Somewhere around £800 to a £1000 I would guess. It might go for more on one of those crazy auctions! I like "I'm In Debt To You" on the flip.
  2. Probably played elsewhere, but this was massive at the Casino! "The Champion" - Willie Mitchell I also remember "Frantic Escape" - Innocent Bystanders -Pameline getting a number of plays. Also the instrumental of "Don't Stop Looking" - Ann D'Andrea- Jamie
  3. This one with the lighter coloured label is the same as the demo, it has great sound reproduction like the demo.
  4. If anyone is interested in buying a classic Northern Soul record in great condition, Darren Brown (Rare Soul45s) has this first issue for sale on his web site. I would buy it myself if I didn't already have it! £100. raresoul45s.co.uk This copy for sale is the bright label design with square clock and has great loud sound reproduction. As opposed to the murky dark gold label copies, that do have the square clock, but play with poor low fidelity.
  5. I'm not surprised. Todays music is not made to dance to, the beat wrong for dancing. All the kids can do now with the music is jump up and down and wave there hands in the air! Tony Blair did away with the licensing laws, so because all the pubs can now stay open till late, there is no reason for people to leave and go on to the disco/ nightclub like they used to. This has caused a big reduction in the dedicated disco/ nightclub. They had a proper full dancefloor with a dj. So the big Saturday night out has diminished to a long night in a boring pub! When young people do go out fof a night out they spend most of the time checking there messages on their phones! They might as well go to the gym these days!
  6. I couldn't agree more with this post! Come on dj's throw those headphones away, stop Back Cueing , and save the intros on those precious records!!
  7. I prefer the DJ's to annonce the records. It creates atmosphere, slightly like a live performance, rather than the feeling of listening to piped music in a supermarket! Also when dj is professional and talks clearly, like Richard Searling for instance, it's informative and I can learn a new records details, without having to go up and ask all the time!
  8. Yes and many great records intros have been damaged with this needless practice! I did DJing for years and never backtracked, because I didn't want to ruin my records. If it was the stylus the burn would last all through the record. I used to set the record going then put up the volume when finished talking. It always worked ok for me.
  9. I shouldn't have to, if the dj's are doing there job properly! Imagine a big venue, getting through all the dancers, finding a way onto the stage, past all the hangers on, to ask what was that record you played two records ago? Then all the way back when you want to find out what another record is! All because the record playing person is too scared of the mic!
  10. It's so frustrating when I used to hear a record I really liked, waited till it finished to find out what it was, then the DJ didn't speak🤔
  11. I agree with your comments and observations on dj'ing. If the person doesn't talk on the mic, they are not dj'ing, they are just playing records. If they haven't got to courage to talk on the mic, they shouldn't be allowed behind the decks👎🫣.
  12. Blackpool Mecca then popular at the Casino and M's Great record from those days! Proper allnighter record!
  13. Some lowlife people will say anything to get their hands on that kind of money!
  14. Double Cookin' - Checkerboard Squares - Villa Hold On, Help Is On The Way - G. Davis & R.Tyler - Parlos Bird Walking - Emanons Orch - All Brothers
  15. The web site has all the contact info. Tel no, 01913704000 To donate, collections@beamish.org.uk Just Google-: Beamish, the Living Museum of the North
  16. Hi, They look in very nice condition. If you haven't had a takers you could offer them to Beamish Living History museum over in the North East. They have just extended with a 1950's themed street. Houses, Cinema and shops all built to emulate the 1950's.
  17. Yes it was a big sound and first played as a instrumental, which is the flip side of the vocal. I can't remember anyone playing the vocal till a few years later after it was booted.
  18. You really need to send photos to be sure, but it is probably an original west coast Monarch pressed demo.
  19. "Lets Get Together" - Andrew Brown - 4 Brothers. Original first issue 45 rpm. £100 plus £5 postage. The condition is a nice Excellent.
  20. An older guy who lives across the road from me saw my postie delivering records. He brought over a pile of records he had bought in the 60's for me to play. A load of pop stuff in there, but a couple of Bobby Blands on Vocalion and a great original 506 Tamla Motown of "All For You". He has got no interest in selling, and as far as I know they are back in the bottom of his bedroom wardrobe!!
  21. Ann Perry was a good result, more than it's ever sold for I would guess. The prices of the others were maybe down a little because I thought the gradings/conditions were not as good as usual.
  22. Tha Vibrations is currently still available. Alltime Northern Soul classic. "The Girl Across The Street" - Moses Smith Dionn. Genuine first issue original with the correct run out groove details. Nice VG+ condition. Plays great, record flat and on-centre. £130 plus £5 postage. "Will You Wait - Otis Brown- Lujuna. £25 Mint- plus £2.70 post. "Pick Me"/You Better Beware" - Vibrations - Okeh demo in great Ex condition. £25 + £2.70 post.
  23. I see by these results, the silly prices are not just reserved for Manships auctions. Although there are a few bargains mixed in these sales.
  24. Top condition on this one, Mint- Great Chicago 60's soul that shares the same backing track as "Count The Days" by The Magnetics. £250 plus £10 insured post.
  25. I remember it was a massive record with the Northern Soul fraternity at the allnighters in the mid-1970's💫. Great record, but it doesn't have the kudos with the collectors, it once had!
