  1. I have to say, this reply has made me laugh & brightened up my day
  2. I haven’t read the article in a long time but from memory it was effetely a full list of the then known releases. It might be worth giving Rob Dearlove a ring and asking if you can use the data from a copyright perspective.
  3. Dave, It's a really hard task just documenting the Hep Me label as Senator Jones used this numbering system for his other lables such as JB's, Jenmark, Superdome, Shagg too. So for a chronological numbering system you need to do it for all of them. John Edit: See Pat beat me to it, should read all the posts in the thread before answeing......
  4. Kev, your worries are over. We now have 15 participants ***** The swap is now closed ***** I'm going to close this thread and interested parties will receive a group pm with all the the details needed.
  5. Jordan, You're in. It is a great way to hear new stuff and believe you me, there are plenty if old workhorses out there hearing new stuff every day. Don't worry about your CD being of high enough quality or being full of cheapies as long as you like what you put on it. I see these swaps as aural enjoyment and ways to listen to new stuff to me and see what floats other peoples boats. Send me your details via pm and we can set the ball rolling
  6. Nope, you've not missed the boat, just looking for one more victim then we're done.
  7. You're very eager Kev, but at the moment you've burnt two CDs too many.... So, if you don't want Kev to be sad because he's wasted two blank discs, send me a pm and join the swap?
  8. 12 13 14 people interested so far, looking for three two one more, then I'll close the swap as I don't want to make it too big to manage.
  9. As the Xmas & New Year celebrations become a distant memory and the harsh January weather wearing people down. What better to blow away those New Year blues than with a CD Swap. If you fancy showing what a mighty fine collection you’ve got, highlighting your top tips for 2014 or fancy making the other swappers ears bleed, go on and give it a go… All you need to do is send me your contact details (real name and postal address), burn a CD of music, send it to the other recipients and wait for the CD’s to start dropping onto your doormat, it’s that easy. Numbers will be limited and please only put yourself forward, if you do intend sending out the CDs. I know it sounds a funny thing to say, but it does cause disappointment and heartache, if people don’t play ball. So, PM me with your contact details and we can get the ball rolling.
  10. I'm after Rudy Mockabee - Piece of My Heart / Think About It - Atco 6748, as mintish as possible, but could be open to consider a lower grading, depending on price and condition. This is not his in-demand Atco release, isn’t a dancer and is not expensive. I’m looking for preferably an issue if one is out there. If you have one, please only send me your fixed price/condition as I won’t respond to “offers” requests. Cheers, John
  11. Its nice reworking of "I Wish I Knew" on Venture, but IMO not as good. So I'd also like to sing the praises on this one as well.
  12. I've always liked Bills Break Up Homes. A great strings and things dancer, but don't remember ever hearing it out.
  13. Not really unknown, but I'd like to see these played out more: Ernie Lucas - Nothing Can Seperate Me From Your Love - Okeh Ernie Shelby - Right Here Where You Left Me - Polydor James Govan - Wanted Lover - Fame Paul Vann - Soul Children - SS7 (I love the guitar)
  14. I thought this one was meant to be kept a secret.....
  15. It's the same Corey Glover, the rest of the Hymns CD is "very" Living Colour and not really to my taste.
  16. That's from my Youtube channel Sonny Holly was played quite a lot in London as a new release. John Ridley has a page on him on his web site https://www.sirshambling.com/artists_2012/H/sonny_holley/index.php I thought I saw an An-Gel release of "Cheating" a while back, but now I'm not too sure.....
  17. John Ridley wrote a page on him on his web site https://www.sirshambling.com/artists_2012/M/lee_moore/index.php
  18. I also find that listening whilst p*ssed to all the overpriced crap I've bought, helps dull the pain of bad purchases.
  19. Always thought of this as Richard Searling play and thought he played this maybe in the late 80's or maybe 1990.
  20. Record sales can be used in money laundering as can other "commodities" and of the three recognised levels the first and is called "placement" where you get your illegal proceeds and buy an expensive record for cash. Then the buying and selling of records is used to wash the cash through various bank accounts is called "Layering". Then putting this money back into the system by taking these proceeds and putting them into your bank account as if it came from a reputable source is called "Integration" I have to do AML training and take a competency test every year...........
  21. Are you saying that because someone wants to DJ, they have a greater right to own a record than someone who buys/collects records for aural enjoyment or because they just want to? Both examples give enjoyment and can inflate people’s egos, just in different ways and neither one is more just than the other.
  22. All of them were recorded in the New London International studio in Birmingham, Alabama, even though the Sam Dee's record doesn't state it on the label. I do remember someone asking that question when they interviewed him on one of his visits to the UK in the early 90's. Never seen 1002, but that's not to say it doesn't exist. I thought NLI was a similar to the initial set-up to Malaco, where these were limited releases aimed to get product noticed by larger labels with a national distribution network (Sam Dees, Polydor and Young Divines, Cotillion). Can't help with the address question, though.
  23. I have nothing against Soul Sam, but please lets not turn this thread into just a dick stroking exercise.
  24. The Newman release of "You Don't Care" has different writing credits to the Star Ville release and mentions their names as All Rights Reserved...
  25. I always think of this as a Graeme Ellis play.
