Chanters - Every Night (I sit and cry) (CBS) Vg+ £100 Killer UK only popcorn/northern mid tempo rarity. Think this had some exposure c/up around 10 years or so ago and commands £100+ on the rare occasions it comes to market. Slightly grubby label with small ticker residue (see image), a few marks but plays strong (HEAR ACTUAL 45 below). https://youtu.be/AMvjSzvfuns?si=T9qap4epGOr2x6v_ PayPal as friends and family or add 4%. Postage UK £2.50 standard first class or £4.50 recorded, £8 special delivery registered and insured, Europe £10 tracked and signed. USA £15 tracked. Robin Lee and the Revels - Little Boy Blue (Big Sound) Vg+ £50 Rodd Keith soundalike with a brilliant slab of garage soul. Not yet seen this on any playlists but it’s sure as hell on a few well known DJs wants lists. Not an easy 45 to find! https://youtu.be/mJDPRBhqbe0?si=0OuwkrQL3MFsdUx3 Harold Tincher and The Chapparals - The Hitchhiker (Lofton) Ex £50 Totally under the radar garage R&B dancer with bags of potential sounds bang on for now. Seems to be pretty rare too this one as hardly ever gone through eBay or Discogs. Just the one barely viewed YouTube clip too. https://youtu.be/ihGZEfICEpo?si=wIThvKlhv_Oey3dz 4-Sale - Baby Please Don’t Tease/Try To Remember (Highland) Ex £35 Massive potential for this virtually unknown garage soul twofer. Top side is bang on for today’s dance floors, flip it for a blue eyed killer in the ‘Shades of’ style. Not as rare but then it seems even lesser known than the Memphis Men. A recommend buy now because this quality at this price for a currently very in vogue sound means the few that are around will get snapped up once word gets out! https://youtu.be/8vQDbcoo6lY?si=A0QBU13OONTxl5Ak https://youtu.be/WUMRcDH0UK4?si=3e-trGSvow8TQ6CZ Chip & Dave - Soon Another Day (Sure Star) Mint- £25 Quirky, catchy blue eyed dancer that’s pretty obscure, could easily do the business with the right DJ behind it. https://youtu.be/fS6GfCp14vc?si=bDaY8b-5wY5Rxj3z Vic Lance - Secrets (Generi) Ex £25 Another quirky blue eyed vocal with a tremendous intro and backing track. Another that in right hands could have its day. Rare one too that I’ve seen listed at £100 before now! https://youtu.be/39Rzs7-WE_4?si=l_CQDeAwhSSDnpSv PayPal as friends and family or add 4%. Memphis Men - Oh What A Night (Miramar) Ex £125 First up an exceptionally rare and seemingly fairly under the radar killer blue eyed group ballad in the ‘Shades of Sorrow’ style. Surprised it’s not wider known but rarity probably held this one back. https://youtu.be/lZ5OPY2ZI5E?si=Tx7Ee2dLTBQvdPtZ 4-Sale - Try To Remember (Highland) Ex £35 Another blue eyed killer in the ‘Shades of’ style. Not as rare but then it seems even lesser known than the Memphis Men. A recommend buy now because this quality at this price for a currently very in vogue sound means the few that are around will get snapped up once word gets out! https://youtu.be/WUMRcDH0UK4?si=3e-trGSvow8TQ6CZ These Gents - Yesterday Standing By (WM) Ex £35 Finally a glorious and increasingly difficult lowrider 45 to find in decent condition. Lots of demand from across the pond with many of the better copies long since filed away in collections. Another bargain by today’s prices. https://youtu.be/mQSMV8kVs4c?si=wvpQz1dj1GEAHsqn PayPal as friends and family or add 4%. Peggy Gaines - Sweet Way Of Living/Just To Satisfy My Baby (Ref-O-Ree) Mint- £50 A Tennessee Ted Jarrett production and cracking slab of southern crossover that has plenty of legs left in it. The flip though (for me anyway) is the real deal here an under the radar lowrider with potential for a big big future. Still cheap but for how long? https://youtu.be/ZaO9UmEEnDI?si=W0SUkFmDr7UyO9yT https://youtu.be/QO6Fttq9JkU?si=3oe271TFqzPbAXBe Casinos - If I Told You/Everybody Can’t Be Pretty (Del-Val) Mint- £40 An almost forgotten group harmony dancer (former Gary Rushbrook spin) in gorgeous near new condition. Don’t ignore the overlooked flip either, a decent group harmony dancer in its own right. https://youtu.be/Bt1RIfueOlY https://youtu.be/dip528e1Y1c Barry Window - End Of Our Road (BAF) Ex (centre missing) £35 Funk edged blue eyed from Swiss born soul/jazz vocalist. Strange old 45 British label (not sure I’ve ever seen before) but what a tune! So so right for now, seems unknown but not ruling out that it may have had plays in past. Just the one YouTube clip and seemingly sells at about £50 usually. Another with bags of potential! https://youtu.be/hft85PEwo6c?si=f9yg2o6IVNjR4-qx Rev. Hermon Murphy And The Hardin Singers - I Know He Died (Custom) Mint- £40 Texas gospel R&B banger that, going by recorded online sales, is pretty damn scarce! One that’s likely to have broad appeal too as could crossover to various ‘scenes’. Tough 45 in what looks like unplayed condition! For me one of the better Gospel dancers I’ve heard (and I’ve head a lot). https://youtu.be/J50_Ae7gcrk?si=wgPh0r2hALZaYSII PayPal as friends and family or add 4%. Gene Yarbrough - The Meeting Place part 1 & 2 (Jerma) Mint £35 Right, managed to secure a small number of store stock copies of this from a contact in US after I was inundated with enquiries when I listed one a few weeks ago, I’m down the LAST TWO COPIES already! My personal favourite of those listed, this seems virtually unknown and whilst part 1 has a couple of YouTube entries, the far better part 2 has only recently been added courtesy of @BarrieWaddington aka @A45Heaven (who’s no bad judge of a 45 given he was responsible for discovering many of Stafford’s finest plays and plenty more before and after). A killer 45 IMHO and not easy to find, probably be three figures if someone starts playing it (and given the names of those that have acquired a copy from me that is going to be very very soon!) https://youtu.be/B1FBMgXgLUo?si=XWWPzKyKIPalWpiv https://youtu.be/xuk448cSt5w?si=zuC_7H9CRFFI4Zzo Peggy Gaines - Sweet Way Of Living/Just To Satisfy My Baby (Ref-O-Ree) Mint- £50 A Tennessee Ted Jarrett production and cracking slab of southern crossover that has plenty of legs left in it. Flip it for mid tempo Stafford heaven, still woefully underplayed. Seen at £80 and rising, gorgeous copy! https://youtu.be/fwWNB7HNIQg https://youtu.be/iLngrMOGBvM PayPal as friends and family or add 4%. Chapter One - How Can Anyone Tell Me/Thinking About The Days (A-I) Ex (slight ring wear but vinyl is mint-) £100 Also released on Toxan, this killer sweet soul twofer seems to be relatively under the radar. Recent sales of Toxan copies imply that word is finally out as the price has jumped to £100+. Here is the infinitely rarer A-I release. One to get now while it’s still relatively affordable! https://youtu.be/LLVLp5fP6ak?si=xQk6ZgmeuRrfuqDD https://youtu.be/0GC_UW9qV2g?si=LhId22BGwVdCbLzN Soulovations - Your Mind (Beachtown) Ex £100 Garage soul version of ‘You’re Mine’ the killer ballad on Ovide from the T.S.U. Toronadoes (presumably there was some confusion around the title ). Hard to know which is rarer but suspect it’s this version, still very much under the radar (as is the Ovide version). Seen sell at £200-£250 and copies that are around are commanding those figures. Priced to sell despite obvious rarity. https://youtu.be/Spt37RVQzvM?si=IBGXEFd4GMMQwP0e Ultimations - Without You/Would I Do It Over (Mar-V-Lus) Mint- £60 Another that has leaped in value in recent times thanks to demand for the gorgeous sweet group harmony side. Flip it for mid tempo Stafford heaven, still woefully underplayed. Seen at £80 and rising, gorgeous copy! https://youtu.be/fwWNB7HNIQg https://youtu.be/iLngrMOGBvM Fabulistic’s - Absence (Scorpion) Vg+ (a few lights marks but a decent player) £30 Rare 45 and a somewhat under the radar but nonetheless killer lowrider 45 that I’ve not had a copy of for a fair few years. Seems to be £75-£100 (my last one certainly went at £75). Killer 45. https://youtu.be/CYRThG4fozI?si=nNs7AvRJSiCV1iMv https://youtu.be/8oFftr49dVg?si=z5_LjeQikJDUGvV0 PayPal as friends and family or add 4%. 006’s - I’m In Love (Music Factory) Vg* £150 Killer garage soul rarity that’s been on the playlists of some of the top UK and European DJs in the last few years. Still relatively under the radar with plenty of legs left in it. One of the 45s destined to cross over to the wider scene putting garage soul firmly at the forefront of upfront venues across the country. Some surface marks but plays as well as the Ex and Mint- copies I’ve had, not seen a copy for two and half years (and the last one was mine) and that went for £300 at Ex. A bargain! https://youtu.be/emCOaXFgwCg Mauds - You Made Me Feel So Bad (Mercury) Ex £40 This one flies out the door every time I list a copy! Reliably informed this killer slab of garage soul had plays in the 90s here and there but has still to crossover to the wider northern scene. This honestly blew me away when I first heard it, garage soul at it’s very best and still cheap (well for now)! Sold a lot of these in recent times and it’s no wonder. If you don’t like this then there’s little hope for you https://youtu.be/tdvDbBN3EvY Runaways - Hello Stranger (NOT ON LABEL) Ex £100 Barbara Lewis’s seminal classic gets killer garage soul treatment. Lots of US lowrider interest in this one and rightly so. Incredibly rare private press E.P. seen at £200 before now - priced to sell! https://youtu.be/wX2Rqop_32Q?si=gx8ccWs2kjJO8HfR PayPal as friends and family or add 4%. Postage UK £2.50 standard first class or £4.50 recorded, £8 special delivery registered and insured, Europe £10 tracked and signed. USA £15 tracked. Lebron Bros. - Don’t Be Afraid (Cotique) Ex (light label wear) £100 Killer! Not sure I want anyone to buy this tbh! Stunning Latin soul ballad, that’s already highly sought after on the lowrider circuit but probably will be new to many here in the UK. Light label wear but vinyl is close to mint-. Recent sales are closer to £150 and this one has plenty of room to increase in demand and value. A tough 45 to acquire. https://youtu.be/thDMYYCt3Sg?si=qf-hnLLO05Gg4wDi Soulovations - Your Mind (Beachtown) Ex £125 Garage soul version of ‘You’re Mine’ the killer ballad on Ovide from the T.S.U. Toronadoes (presumably there was some confusion around the title ). Hard to know which is rarer but suspect it’s this version, still very much under the radar (as is the Ovide version). Seems to be £75-£100 (my last one certainly went at £75). Killer 45. https://youtu.be/CYRThG4fozI?si=nNs7AvRJSiCV1iMv https://youtu.be/8oFftr49dVg?si=z5_LjeQikJDUGvV0 Aaron Neville - She Took You For A Ride (Parlo) Vg+ £15 Last, cheapest, but certainly not least a 45 that seems under the radar here but well known stateside. Last few I’ve had have gone to pretty well known DJs so must be getting some plays somewhere! Not many 45s of this quality still available for this sort of price! Doesn’t turn up that often either so expect to see it rise soon. https://youtu.be/6KIErHQ2O9c PayPal as friends and family or add 4%. Nobody’s Child - All My Friends Call Me A Fool (Sound Of Soul) Ex £50 Sublime and probably the best of the three for sale today (probably the rarest too). A stunning lowrider 45 that like all of those listed is very much priced to sell. One that is likely to grow in demand and of course price. https://youtu.be/y3REn5806GE?si=MtBYW8HgwZOl2nIt Fabulistic’s - Absence (Scorpion) Vg+ (a few lights marks but a decent player) £50 Rare 45 and a somewhat under the radar but nonetheless killer lowrider 45 that I’ve not had a copy of for a fair few years. Seems to be £75-£100 (my last one certainly went at £75). Killer 45. https://youtu.be/CYRThG4fozI?si=nNs7AvRJSiCV1iMv Toppiks - Give It A Chance To Grow/Surrender (Larsam) Vg/Vg+ (WOL lots of light marks but plays strong ***HEAR IT***) £50 Probably the highest value of the three with a recent sale of £200 so this is a bargain albeit a slightly downgraded but still very playable copy. Fabulous lowrider double sider, never sure which is the more popular of the two sides! https://youtu.be/uuG02qHwuNE?si=CHoqgJ5y02Dn7HxN https://youtu.be/u7THPIcMsZ0?si=XBYWV424sRKo108O PayPal as friends and family or add 4%. Johnny Holiday - Tormented (Airtown) Vg++ £250 Killer funk edged dancer of supreme rarity, just a handful through Discogs and eBay and seen at prices way over this. Still relatively unknown thanks to its rarity with plays restricted to rare rooms and more progressive events. Lots of mileage left in this one and it’s so so fuc*ing good (those drums)! Moods - Boogaloo Sue (Orbit) Mint £75 Seen at twice this price, fabulous uptempo garage soul that’s had some plays across Europe and here in the UK by some of the more forward thinking DJs, rare 45 too and again seen at £150 plus in the past. https://youtu.be/8oFftr49dVg?si=z5_LjeQikJDUGvV0 Al Reed - Sorry About That (Axe) Vg+ £35 Infectious, under the radar rhythm and soul dancer from ‘68, amazed this isn’t massive - perfect for DJs looking for something different. Tough to find in this sort of clean condition. No longer on YouTube seemingly due to a copyright claim (I’ve stuck a clip up on my channel temporarily so you can hear it if you don’t already know it). https://youtube.com/shorts/r8vARyaXe0M?feature=shared Rev. E.S.P. (Experimental Soul Project) - Drowning In My Tears/Not A Satisfied Mind (Part Three) Ex £150 Topside is one of my favourite tracks from Shades of Sorrow Vol 3 (soon to be released on vinyl in case you didn’t know already) flip it for an underplayed, under the radar garage soul dancer that is bang on for now! Just a handful through Discogs and eBay over the years assures its rarity. Two fantastic sides. King Sound Interpreters - You Got Soul (Talent of Music) Vg+ £250 As rare - if not rarer - than their more sought after ‘Hi-Note’ 45, here’s another stunning northern group harmony rarity from the KSI’s. Plenty of legs left in this one as rarity has clearly held it back. Monster potential in the right hands and as rare as hen’s. Some scuffs and surface marks (DNAP) plays solid Vg+. Priced to sell to send this at £300+. https://youtu.be/paaV5ohLJYo?si=FGGJ6txa1WotHtI6 Rev. This really is girl group northern to a tee and for me is up there with many of the classics. Tough 45 on a label that appears not to have any other releases. Garage connection as the flip is by a group called The Other Kind who are also credited with the backing on this side. Clip below from actual 45 and will be removed from YT once sold. Sound Stage #1 - Reachin’ Out (Sta-Ber) Vg+ £200 Stunning and virtually unknown northern girl group stormer. Only rarity and obscurity can have held this one back! Donnie, Fonnie & La Vorn - It’s Sweet Love/A Woman Who’ll Let You Be A Man (Trump) Mint- £200 Killer lowrider twofer here that is rarely offered for sale. Seen a significant increase in demand for this too recently with prices at £300+ on both Discogs and eBay. Still relatively under the radar here I think but only a matter of time. One that hasn’t reached its peak price point yet. Priced to sell! https://youtu.be/y-QQICM7hkI?si=ybnigI5Jby8OfhoN https://youtu.be/kN-Uxd-OA00?si=lZlHt3qTkq-YILhg Marriotts - Ooo Baby Baby/Tell It Like It Is (ABC WD) Mint- (XOL) £35 This seems equally if not even lesser known than the 45 above, a simply gorgeous, hairs on the back of the neck slab of sweet with a beat. Another tough 45 to acquire and I have to say this is my pick of the three tonight, can’t believe this is being slept on! https://youtu.be/YkM8SRFdia0?si=db9xuVQsIB0SXcUY N Group - Words Of Love/Keep On Running (Wes Mar) Mint- £35 Killer blue-eyed lowrider ballad, that went for well over £100 a while back on a CarolinaSoul auction (an outlier admittedly but testimony to how good a 45 this actually is). Flip it for a ripe for revival long forgotten former Stafford c/up, sounds bang on for now with that Garage Soul sound currently gaining favour up and down the country. https://youtu.be/uiZHPSvBiDQ https://youtu.be/jY-uUI4FgfA PayPal as friends and family or add 4%. Fabulous Impacts - A Thousand Years/Cry Cry (Dad’s) Vg+ £150 Killer in demand funk edged garage soul pounder that is ridiculously difficult to find. Had done exposure in Europe and via the more progressive UK DJs but remains under the radar. Tons of potential to cross over this one. Usually goes for around £200-£250 I’m told by those in the know. Priced to sell. (N.B. Don’t ignore the blue eyed deep soul flip.) https://youtu.be/xvHrDg55IVI?si=On4sYjFCIrwGcK5J https://youtu.be/cbVzmlLW6LI?si=tf8_1Py2BIk8Ua5k Romans - You Won Your Victory (MY) Vg+ £125 Another in demand garage soul dancer by those in the know. Had some European exposure but little here in the UK as far as I’m aware. Their rarest on the highly collectible MY label with the few copies around seemingly in pretty rough condition. This one looks incredibly clean, closer to Ex. (Flip in a lovely under the radar ‘Shades of Sorrow’ style garage soul ballad.) https://youtu.be/fxua3nQBokw?si=tCO14Nkpkn6cTz4B The Tangents - I’m No Fool (Mastertone) Ex £150 One of the ‘most wanted’ garage soul/R&B 45s out there currently. Seriously tough 45 to acquire (much rarer than its C Vaughn Leslie stablemate) yet still remarkably cheap by comparison to other 45s that are more common and less inferior. Loads of potential for this one to crossover to wider scenes, but for now seems pretty exclusive to those hunting garage/blue eyed 45s. Price will rise! P.S. don’t ignore the flip either! https://youtu.be/GYX_0xk1CcI?si=S_t4RkiNgcjrf3so https://youtu.be/qKs_qbtzp1M?si=ust026vn2lBb2M5L PayPal as friends and family or add 4%. Shelia & The Tonettes - You Ain’t Gonna Get It (Arvus) Mint- £300 BOOM! Very reluctant sale of this uptempo funk edged sister soul dancer. Exceptionally rare, only seen a couple of these for sake ever and they weren’t in this condition (spotless)! Rarity has meant this has stayed very much under the radar but it has had some exposure from those in the know (Europe, RSF etc.). Single figures on Discogs and eBay and the last one I saw was $500. No YT so clip here on FB https://www.facebook.com/share/p/2ncepnvbHgM1zcDx/?mibextid=WC7FNe PayPal as friends and family or add 4%. Postage UK £8 registered and insured, £4.50 recorded. Tempettes - If You Only Knew/Dummy Dummy Dum Dum (Impresario) Mint- £125 Semi-known funk edged girl group double sider. Top side has no YouTube (until I uploaded the clip below) and seems to be virtually unknown (the better of the two sides for me too). Flip has just the one YT and certainly isn’t widely known. A rare 45 too with just a handful through Discogs and eBay. Given it’s rarity and quality this one’s a bargain! https://youtu.be/RccO2-2BvXI?si=_STH7knH2g7Wkffz https://youtu.be/EE92zMmpckk?si=xPCItjNBpTmgIreU Jay Lyle - How Good Can It Get (Angel City) Mint- £100 Killer semi-known funk edged R&B that’s had plays from the likes of Paul Vine amongst others. A tough 45 to acquire that doesn’t seem to gone to market often with a top sale of £140 on Discogs. Plenty of legs left in this one! https://youtu.be/3t5ZLdQejZE?si=dLrnPNZbwgo6R1gW Teddy Huffam and The Gems - Guilty (RUC) Ex (some light background which I assume is a pressing defect as this looks almost like new) £75 ***HEAR IT*** Killer Gospel banger that is both exceptionally rare and relatively unknown. Last Discogs copy sold for £200 and with only a handful ever appearing on Discogs and eBay this another bargain. Lots of potential in this one, had a few plays via progressive DJs that actually have a copy but lots of legs left in it! https://youtu.be/vCiBKvNz4Zo?si=68uyyu3N3QKUcKZk Bill Morgan & The Rubber Band - Old Woman (Brown Hat Records) Vg- £75 ***HEAR IT*** One look at that label tells you this is a ridiculously rare 45! Probably not in the best condition but then it’s only other entry on YT is in much the same condition and and Craig Moerer has one in G+ at about £350 on Discogs. Funk edged R&B that’s pretty much unknown and sounds so right for now. Hear a clip from the actual 45 below. https://youtu.be/_sh1_k6s3Qg?si=cJTAeaCksZMNeSEV PayPal as friends and family or add 4%. Les Elegante’s - I’ve Been Lonely (Afro-K) Vg+ £150 Semi-known girl group banger that has somehow escaped the attention of DJs (You Tubers). This really is girl group northern to a tee and for me is up there with many of the classics. Tough 45 on a label that appears not to have any other releases. Garage connection as the flip is by a group called The Other Kind who are also credited with the backing on this side. Clip below from actual 45 and will be removed from YT once sold. https://youtu.be/QUQZKgtlvNw?feature=shared PayPal as friends and family or add 4%. Another that could easily be the next Riddles! Roy Head - Pain (Back Beat) Ex (WOL) £15 Dagger cheapie from the ‘Treat Her Right’ Texan, that seems very much under the radar. A killer blue eyed ballad in the style of those incredible Shades of Sorrow comps. https://youtu.be/cJO0jfhZSPk?si=XYIpDxYtO-8WW_jp PayPal as friends and family or add 4%.
