Soul Biographies/ Auto Biographies
Gaz Simon replied to Chris Anderton's topic in All About the SOUL
Chris I have Teddy P's biography, bought it about 8 years ago while on holiday in the States (books-a-million i think). Teddy is one of my all time favourite male vocalists. Its called "Truly Blessed" and was written by Teddy and Patricia Romanowski, you should be able to track it down using the ISBN number, which is ISBN 0-425-17110-8 Its an absorbing read, Teddy's life was a roller coaster of incredible highs and a few lows and ultimately lead to the big turning point in his life, the car accident in 1982! Ive just dug it out after reading your post on here and am at page 42 already! Another related Autobiography i have is Patti LaBelle's "Dont block the blessings" Written by Patti with Laura B Randolph ISBN 0-425-16998-7 Another great read that also relates the music business in Philly in the 60s and 70s. If you have problems getting them send me a PM and i'll post them down so you can read them, believe me you need to. Best Gaz -

Hello Paul Vince Gallagher lives in Sao Paolo, Brazil, he has a brazillian wife and family and is running a successful coffee machine business!! This was bizarre news to me as well!!, he was in England recently to see his family and he contacted Kev Cane and they went out for a drink and he gave Kev an update. Vince was a major influence on me musically and introduced me to deep soul, harmony ballads etc when i was a 16 year old casino boy! and also gave me a few records around that time like 4 below zero, Ujima etc, years before they became popular. I think i can get his email address if you want it Paul, also i have a few copies of the Marilyn Grimes, so if you PM me your details i'll send you a couple of copies. Kev also has a few copies of "Disco Music" by Sir Ted Ford, one of the first issues on your ardent label, which is a fabulous tune and probably quite rare too nowadays (me and Kev have been playing this at Joes bar in Darlington recently) One thing ive always wondered about the Marilyn Grimes......Why release it when its US issue was fairly easy to get? Surely it was never gonna be a big seller? Gaz
