  10. Northern Soul, probably named so because Dave Godin at the time, thought that because a few deejays played a certain style of uptempo dance music to a mostly young and chemically fuelled audience, in order to differentiate between the southern funkier disco dance style commercially available all over the country, so basically Northern Soul is anything really that was ignored by the media, for a while, not played in your local disco, radio station or youth club unless somebody saw a chance to exploit it,and they did, but to explain the style of music to someone who asks who doesn't know, at the time is was Uptempo Soul music very similar to the Tamla Motown sound of the sixties, but as we grew older it was the mid tempo soul music very similar to the Tamla Motown sound of the late sixties, as we grew older and more tolerant we flipped them and played the b-sides too and the odd album track thrown in as well, but really it doesn't exist as a music style, but like minded Souls
  11. If you're serious about collecting, only want the originals, only collect the originals and have deep pockets, surely that's a different market from reissues of anything made legally and affordable so allowing the artist possibly if still alive, to make a living and the younger generation a chance to own a copy. Bootlegs a different subject and hated or should be by everyone, but still especially the early ones fetch a few quid and I bet the artists never received a penny. I think legitimate reissues have a place, go back in time most of the early Motown, released twice or more, most UK releases are effectively re-releases of U.S. first releases, yes a few but not bucketfuls UK only, it's all about demand, the first issue, promo, picture sleeve, acetate, market will always endure .
