  1. Although I am BWFC fan , I used to love watching Denis Law play ,the original goal hanger , babby liner , what ever the title he was the master , albeit long before VAR , but even if they'd had it then , he'd have been onside every time, a master in the box , Farewell Denis Rip , condolences to family , friends & fans .
  2. I think it's not ignorance , it's tempo that we where after , nowadays I'm loving the much slower pace , so I am giving a new lease of life to half of my collection, that I wouldn't have 20 yrs. ago except the blatantly obvious ones I mentioned above. Plus at our time of life , late 60s its nice to dance to with a partner instead of solo , if you wish to .
  3. I think I'm slowly understanding the ethos , of the Lowrider spectrum , You could possibly squeeze in sounds like Ray Pollard, The Drifter , Jimmy Radcliffe, Long Ater Tonight Is All over , perhaps this is why these tunes are gaining in price and becoming harder to locate cheaply on original copies ?
  4. Would this fall into the category of Lowrider, cheap as chips or not , due to value and availability ? Love it .
  5. Released in the normal way no mention of Northern Soul , then discovered by the Northern Scene , released and then remarketed for the Northern Scene and then the Genie was well and truly out of the bottle . Which puzzles me , why do these people do this kind of promotional exercise when they must surely know the outcome ?
  6. Really , did he have to wear a red jacket too ?
  7. Or maybe in one of those " Will It Catch On " previously mentioned events , where you could just walk off the dancefloor & pop to the W.C. until the next tune came on . After washing yours hands & putting your headphones & padded gloves on & returning to the dance floor .
  8. Another 50 yrs too late , would it have been spun @ W.C. probably
  9. It may , maybe if the Alnighter was in a built up area like the Torch was , or under a block of flats or in a mental institution ( am I allowed to say that ) as a recreational activity. The first 2 instances given padded gloves and carpet slippers a must , to damp down the sound of hand clapping & stomping , the 3rd usually built in the middle of nowhere , so it wouldn't matter
  10. Is this a download or physical 45 vinyl release at the moment , have searched & can only find a March date for the 45 ?
  11. It's surely all about musical taste & mood , not remotely weak & most would probably have been the A- side when first released , age & maturity of the listener may also play apart too . The Cods , I'm A good Guy great dancer probably played 1st at The Twisted Wheel , nowadays I can quite happily play "Pretty Baby ", lots of records of the same era , the slower side never got a look in and now becoming much harder to own , the strange world of Northern Soul eh
  12. Hi Zanetti x , Have pmd , Dave
  13. I bought a Harold Burrage, Mountain Of Soul , M-pac , supposedly a Charly release last week , for £5.50 clearance sale , arrived in a white sleeve , instead of the usual brown Charly cardboard sleeve , looks exactly the same as a Charly product , good sound quality , looks the same but it looks and feels suspect , maybe I'm just being spooked .
  14. This a copy currently on eBay £ 157. There's a definite difference in the label , and dead wax , but here is the label ,
  15. If it is a boot , there are none doing the rounds , eBay etc , at least not yet !
  16. Thanks Douglaschip for the above post , I didn't watch Top of the Pops , so have never seen that performance. I do recall Jools Holland had a gig I think at the Royal Albert Hall , including Sam , Eddie Floyd , Booker T , & his Orchestra etc , but Sam didn't perform " Plenty Good Lovin " which was a great surprise at the time and disappointing.
  17. This may be affecting one or two here on Soul Source , a terrible disaster with so many consequences loss of everything.
  18. After Tony Ellis , had introduced it to the 6ts crowd , probably Hampstead & the soul nights at Le Papillon in Brighton, where it fitted in nicely , & later on he used to finish off at the 100 club with it & occasionally , and depending on how many where left standing ( in those days it was an 8 am finish ) he had to empty the room , the theme to " Coronation Street" not sure which version , we where gone before the end lol
  19. L.J.Johnson , Your Magic Put A Spell On Me , played at the Casino in 76 ( pretty sure but most Saturday Alnighters becoming a little bit hazy , it's an awful long time ago ) when there was so much animosity towards anything Levine , and it packed the floor at the time , copies on discogs today from .50p
  20. Hi Russ , Have pmd , Dave
  21. So was this Europe's first Lowrider scene , as opposed to the UK's Deep Soul at the time in the 70s ?
  22. Merry Xmas & a Happy & Healthy New year to everyone, thanks to Mike & the admin team for all their hard work, in keeping Source going .
  23. Hope you had a great birthday Wilxy , all the best Dave
  24. Very honest , I was not & wasn't making any derogatory comment regarding the seller , just amazed the record was sold for so much , that's all .
