  1. As I sit here with my hot chocolate before retiring to bed , is this the reason because of the blinkered djs who would rather spend 3 months wages on an overplayed classic , or the audience?
  2. I was very lucky to have been at the Brighton Top Rank , when Tina made her comeback , brought the room to a standstill with her version of " Let's Stay Together" , ( unfortunately for Jean Carn ) but a night that I'm sure she and the audience went home feeling happy. She'd finally thrown off the shackles and loved every minute of it , and went on to enjoy a career so long lasting , she deserved ,, RIP TINA X.
  3. Would be nice if they revisted some of the "Talcom Soul " CDs , be nice to see some of the rarer tracks on Stateside for the 1st time instead of tunes previously rereleased on earlier projects .
  4. Kev , Have pmd you , Dave
  5. Looking for any soul/ associated/club / label / stickers , for a project sticker bombing my VW Transporter/ camper , If you have any then please pm me , Thanks for looking, Dave Pm me , and I will pay P+P ,
  6. " Soul Men " for that midweek pick me up feeling ,,,
  7. "Cadillac Records " 2009 I think , the story of Leonard Chess a Jewish immigrant from Poland who sets up the Chess/ Checker labels , good movie I thought . "Soul Men " 2008 , Samuel L Jackson , Bernie Mac & Isaac Hayes, a good comedy based I believe on the story of Sam & Dave , still makes me laugh
  8. If you think back , over the years of all the Motown tunes that where released , all over Europe and not in the UK , then it could have been anybody , who would never have realised that there was a Northern Soul Scene in the UK , so that counts out Dave Godin & Sharon .
  9. Funny enough , found a a one sided copy on eBay for a tenner , didn't buy it , thought is was too cheap ,,,
  10. iPlayer BBC4, Cheltenham Soul & Jazz Festival, now showing, opening song "Take Me To The River " by Ashton Jones , not a half bad version of the Al Green classic , worthy of a look if your looking for a pick me up.
  11. Now even Dunelm are at it ," Darrell Banks , Our Love Is In The Pocket " , shopping in Kidderminster is becoming a tonic
  12. Thank you for highlighting this documentary, watched it this week on iPlayer , shocking but just shows what President Nixon was all about ,scumbag ,,,

  19. Arrived yesterday , nice looking picture sleeve full of info , and great sound too , cheers Andy ( Sorry Mods please feel free to move to the DOJO CUTS feature and the following posts , humble apologies)
  20. Lol , maybe due to years of very loud music and industrial noise , I have now been diagnosed 80% deaf in one ear and 50% in the other , will have to wear my earing aids and give it another listen , but your right regarding the Implements version , will have to start saving for a copy
  21. I think the Ojays , Look Over Your Shoulder , definitely pitched up at least + 3 sounds like a floor filler
  22. It may sound callous, but for the sake of the scene and going forwards 2 room venues 1 on the ground floor, accessible to all , and 1 on the 2nd floor only accessible for those who can get up there without assistance, and djs rotating , if they can get up there too . How else are our loved ones going to offload our collections , when we've all passed if there isn't a demand ? . Great to see young folk enjoying the music , and not being fed the shite we had to endure circa 75/76 at the WC , I pray that the London Philharmonic don't open up with " Lost Summer Love " ( maybe a little later) but you get my meaning . Good morning,( rant over ) everyone .
  23. That's a nice surprise, just dropped through the letter box a little bit early , not complaining cheers Dave
