  1. I'm listening on BBC sounds via the telibox , sounds brilliant
  2. Hope they've got seat belts in the balcony seats , strap your self in
  3. As we can only listen Via Radio Three live from 20:00 hrs ( and it does clearly say to be broadcast shortly after ) check out the link that both Russ and I have posted and check the Radio Three schedule for all info . Shall all interested parties meet up here later with a glass or two and nibbles , for a chinwag with an open mind , just an idea if you're not already busy ?
  4. Buddy Lamp , is it still available , I Wanna Go Home ? Cheers Dave
  5. Definitely on Radio Three live , broadcast later on the BBC probably iPlayer , check the earlier postings Drew , playlist and full details there
  6. Hi Steve , Have pmd you Regards Dave
  7. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001nnsq I think this is it , It may say page can't be found , Click on sounds , scroll to BBC radio 3 , Then scroll to the proms 2023 Then click Sat.15th It worked thanks Mike If you click on " show more " it gives the list of tunes to be featured.
  8. Not the best photographer in the world but here it is .
  9. I think this confirms Radio 3, so far nothing on the TV programming yet, but all the other televised Proms have been confirmed , but when I literally just checked again , across the banner heading a pop up came up " This programme will be available shortly after broadcast ,
  10. Yes you are right , it's the start of the proms season starting on Friday oops
  11. To be honest I think Stuart is on our side , he went to the Casino , he has always tried I think to promote N.S. in the right way , remember those live alnighters on the BBC he presented, and he still stands in for Craig Charles when he's busy on 6 music , if the dancers are the best of now , young energetic and followers of the music not payed actors , in costume, then hopefully it all goes well , There is plenty of footage documented from years gone by to show on a big screen , not necessarily focusing on the dance floor , so there's hope
  12. Hi , have Pmd
  13. Possibly but Northern Soul was never meant to be a spectator sport , so will be very surprised if no dancers are included
  14. Reading through the lines could there possibly be a few dancers thrown in ? or just a back drop (see what I did there ) on the big screen behind the orchestra .
  15. John Grant sold his collection to Geoff Finch of Vinyl Demand in Brighton and if my memory serves me right , he became a Customs Officer based in Newhaven I think. If anyone can remember the rather large record stall on the stairs at Top Of The World Stafford which we did , Geoff had hired a long wheel based Transit van to haul it all the way from Brighton to Stafford the record bar was full , Dave Thorley offered us the landing half way up the stairs, 90% of that stall was John's collection, we also did The Shrewsbury Aldayers, that Richard Shearling ran and the Gillingham Aldayers , where Steve Walsh amongst others was involved ( circa 82 ish Gwen McCrea , Keep The Fire Burning , I remember was getting hammered at Gillingham as a new release ) that was the variety and quality of his collection covering modern soul , Jazz Funk , deep etc 60s & 70s albums too. I'd had some great finds myself from the collection such as the California Playboy's album ,Sidney Joe Quails , So Sexy album , which featured " I Don't Do This " ,Gavin Christopher, album which featured" This Side Of Heaven " , Lou Kirton on 12" "Heaven In The Afternoon" and so many others too many to mention , plus a couple of boxes of 60s Northern that I used to haul up to the 100 Club , Frank Beverly on Gamble was probably the stand out , I think John had sold a lot of the traditional northern stuff himself as there was only about 500 x 45s left in the collection..
  16. After the album release Alex , sometime in the future would it be possible to release the Johnny Bristol on a 45 ? , Deserves one in its own right , superb tune
  17. Took the words right out of my mouth, hope it's a sell out as it's for a very worthy cause and a great version too.
  18. After buying my first copy of The CODs, I'm A Good Guy , from Keith Minshull around 74 at WC. For a poultry £5. and he told me it was a wheel spin , I had no reason to disbelief him( a mear 17teen yr.old ) and then a better 2nd copy from him at at Stafford 83ish ( if my memory is still intact ) then from a purely Northern Soul / Early Soul angle this must have been imported by the bucket full as it's still only worth a £Tenner , and still a great tune , I also bought for the 3rd time a Mint copy 2 yrs ago just for the B side the only Mint copy I ever and still own , so the previous copies being say used somewhat ,surely puts it into the early mass imported section ,, but still a classic .
  19. Still looking , project ongoing , had a few , but definitely require more , Thanks for looking Dave
  20. I'm not going to spoil it for you but I believe all the footage also came from Claude's collection , has to be seen to be believed ,,,,,
  21. Apologies if covered yrs. ago although it does have 2021 on the release date , THEY ALL CAME TO MONTREUX , currently on the BBC iPlayer channel 4 , A 3 part story of the extraordinary world- famous Jazz Festival, and it's beloved founder Claude Nobs . Watched all 3 episodes last night lots of artists that we all know and love , and wait until the part when they show Claude's record collection , well worth a viewing alone , let alone the Festival.
  22. Ticket booked , love a bit of nostalgia, amazing really while it was running the Council and the notorious local constabulary only wanted to get rid of the WC , I'm surprised that the local tourist information board hasn't pushed the council into rebuilding the place , just a thought lol .
  23. I understand where you're coming from but how many teams apart from Man U . can sustain a year in these Thursday night Euro comps. / Sunday/ Monday Premier League, fans being dragged around all over Europe from as early as the beginning of August , just to qualify , probably 2 days off work , it all smacks of Uefa greed with no consideration for the welfare of the clubs or the fans involved, probably both who have a limited budget . How many teams have gone on a downward slide following a Uefa League Thursday night campaign? I bet more than those who've stayed in the top half of the Premier League over the years , just my opinion as a Bolton fan , yes we have played once or twice in Europe and look how that panned out If Uefa had made it an old fashioned knock out tournament like it used to be maybe people would be more interested before the Final .
  24. Well done West Ham , on tonight's victory in " The Inconvenient Thursday Night League " (moved to Wednesday night to suit TV programming ) , Fiorintina where nothing more than your typical ( don't read the next sentence if your Italian ) dive merchants , I think the hardest challenge all night on a Fiorintina player , was when they equalised and the guy who scored stayed on his feet when barged from behind in the celebration by one of his own team members, no rolling around or struggling to breath like he'd been tackled by Stuart Pierce lol. Seriously 14 games to get to a European final is going to take its toll , on any football team , plus the pressure of the Premier League , FA Cup , remember Kidderminster Harriers, so well done , you deserve it.
