Friday November 18 2022 was the third installment of the Hideaway in Amsterdam. Most Soul Nights held in bars and clubs focus on the dance floor and play uptempo music. However, there is another tradition of club events where the music is slow, sweet, moody and deep. The Amsterdam soul DJ collective Mokum Soul present a new monthly night @ the Mata Hideaway in the Hard Rock Hotel on the Leidseplein in Amsterdam focusing on the heart rather than the dancefloor. Mokum Soul are Taco Fett of Amsterdams premier record shop Waxwell, Hans Diepstraten & Harry van Vliet from longstanding radio show Fingerpoppin’ Soul, and Mark Fisher expat resident of Amsterdam and upfront soul collector. Together the four of them will present an evening of Sweet Soul, Ballads and B-sides in an intimate and stylish environment. In line with similar nights from Los Angeles to London you will hear sweet soul, group harmony and deep ballads selected by the Mokum Soul crew and top international guest DJs.
