A great bloke. Such sad news. I first met him in the foyer at a Central Hall Kettering dayer in 75 & was mates from then on......Re-united with his true love Sue. Bless them both.
RIP Jon
Same as. I was wondering when I posted originally whether any of the older heads who (a-hem) might have known the people involved & could give us a heads up on what actually went on like numbers pressed etc .
I mean, would you boot as many Johnny Howards as Lou Prides, as many Prince George's as Lainie Hill's ?
emi discs were never that much in my neck of the woods (£4 in 76) but they were still warm when we got them
Wish I'd have kept all mine. I'd discarded them as 'rubbish' (which they certainly are) but could have sold for silly money now & got some decent originals
After seeing the Buster & Eddie original go on Manships auction & the reference to a box of 100 find being the only finds of the pink issue, it got me wondering how many of the red boots are out there ?
Same goes for all the other big records booted in that era - How many were actually produced of a particular title ? With certain titles are the boots rarer than the originals due to later finds ? Did the bootleggers press more of one title than another based on how big the record was at the time ?
.....Just curious. I'd never considered it before
...........Same sort of voice as Prince Ella who recorded with the Sidney Jones (on Prince). Sidney produced Albert George & a couple of others on Soul Time
No, but a similar style record.....I think it was a Keith spin, so probably British again (?), a bit more poppy in the Karen Young, Ann dAndrea style ...Was the instrumental we are trying to track down one of his ?...I'm thinking Keith or Alan Rhodes ?
Your memory is good - He was a weekly regular for Ken Cox long before 78...Years ago he joined in a discussion on here that drifted onto his move from Wigan to St Ives (in 76 I think).
While we are talking Wigan obscurities there was a girly group record about leaving school with the line " I picked up my pencils' in it being played around the same time as the instrumental in 78. Its been driving me mad trying to find out what it is for years. It was a bit 'pop', so I probably won't like it if I hear it again
Got a feeling it turned out to be a british 'easy listening' thing on A&M or Page 1 something like that but I could be getting it wrong - Was it 78ish ?
Normally yes, I'd agree, but in this case he deliberately set out to lie & deceive. Had it just been put up without the lying description I think most would have taken a different view on the sale rather than the outrage it stirred up.
Don't know that Tom guy personally but I have 11 mutual friends on FB who I've known/know personally away from FB for many, many years, so I would bet my last pound he's kosher
I don't remember it either. Not a bad tune to be fair, strange how some pass right over your head. I don't think it could have been played for long or we'd have all known it.
Perhaps someone on here will know about Miracle Love.......Jackson Sisters perhaps ? Wasn't that getting plays around that time or have I gone off on a tangent again ?
