  1. Yes all the small 45 one are missing publishing credits, only noticed that today when looking so I guess Pete's explanations sounds most likely.
  2. You may well be right Pete, looking at some other small 45 labels they do look similar and on the large 45s there are writing credits such as Jalynne and Curtom. Guess we'll never know
  3. I'd bought the demo about 5 or 6 years ago didn't realise I had the issue and it was only during a clearout that I put them next to each other.
  4. No, not for the Belgian Popcorn scene, they only like the very early releases on purple vinyl such as Rhythm, Crying in the rain, etc.
  5. Don't mind Chess or Starville, should play well, not interested in condition of label (or vinyl as long as it plays EX or better). Many thanks. Chris
  6. Sifting through some Major Lance singles and whilst my demo of this has a large 45, the issue has a small 45 akin to those later 70s re-issues. Looking at the cat nrs there were releases after Hot to hold all with large 45s, any idea why this one has the smaller 45 ? Are there others from this era ?
  7. Always thought that the Moses Smith boot was a fable and they are all originals, anybody got any labels scans of both ?
  8. That story came from Arthur Wright, the arranger of Hurt on the other side (as well as a shedload of other stuff). In the 70s both Alex P & Jerry C were very in demand items so it doesn't surprise me.
  9. They are boots, story is Simon Soussan wandered into Capitol records and wandered out with a handful of blanks.
  10. It is tough to tell the difference..............
  11. In fact I've contacted an Ebay seller today to tell her that what she was selling was a boot, have to say she was good about it, I showed her mine, will check to see if she's changed or removed it................
  12. Didn't somebody put TMG release of Frank Wilson on Ebay for about £20.000 or somesuch similar ?
  13. I must be pretty dim, what am I missing here ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TBA-TBA-45rpm-Single-/251498597100?pt=UK_Records&hash=item3a8e7c0aec
  14. There used to be a time when you could contact a buyer after the auction had finished, that was some years ago. I did that a few times back in the "silly days" when people were buying everything and anything and warned them they'd just bought a boot.
  15. There are 2 pictures of the Cooperettes, one showing 4 members and the other with 5 members. Andy Rix has/had one which I think showed a different line up. Scroll down for pic of Copperettes/Dottie & Millie
  16. I bought a record from this seller, a decent price, waiting for it to arrive, we'll see what condition it is, have to agree it's simpler for a buyer to know in advance
  17. Ebay do that because seller would ask a starting price of 0.01 cent/pence then ask £15.00 postage so if the items sold for £5.00 they only get commission on that sum. Now they total the sale price and shipping cost charged and their fees come off the total. As for informing the tax man, I'm registered in Belgium but sell on UK Ebay so the UK tax man can't really touch me, having said that Paypal does inform the authorities for any transactions over €3000.00 per month. One has to remember that about 95% of all that is sold on Ebay is done outside a sales tax regime, a sort of a car boot sale on line. That's fine for small amateur sellers but there are big operations out there buying and selling for gain and need to be treated just like any other trading company. Of course the downside of that is that everybody ends up paying. sound familiar ?
  18. In Belgium...............
  19. Ian I hope I'm going to explain this right. There are 2 types of sellers, those who ship directly to the buyer and those (the new batch) who ship via Ebay's shipping program. If you buy say a £200 record from the former ask them to declare it as $30.00 most will do that. The latter (new batch thus) will declare the real sold value ie £200 and you'll end up paying vat & duty on that sum, it could total 20 - 30% of the sale price. Good luck.
  20. Belgian Popcorn tunes still get covered up, including a female vocal of Sam Fletchers - Think it over.
  21. Or you could go with this one !!!! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DUKE-BROWNER-CRYING-OVER-YOU-IMPACT-Records-70s-Vinyl-Reissue-/181364443821?pt=UK_Records&hash=item2a3a29caad
  22. I do hope it's not one of those crappy vinyl ones, they sound like they were recorded in a Woolworths booth !!
  23. Supremes, I do believe it was written for them.
  24. Has to be "Lonely, lonely girl am I" by the Velvelettes. The arrangements and production are just so awesome, guaranteed to fill any dance-floor. Gets my vote every time.
