I bought one of these about 4 years ago and stupidly sold it after about 2 months (scale 9 on the Big Dummy-O-Meter). However...................managed to track me down another today

I live in Belgium and pre-covid visited the UK monthly and posted my records sales from a UK post office. Now visiting is extremely complicated I've been forced to post from here. From the 1st November there's been a simplifying of crossing border postage, I don't need any invoices anymore and it looks like UK customs are accepting low values and shipped as a 'gift'. I don't guarantee it's all plain sailing but most of my last shipments (about 12 ) have arrived VAT free into the UK. Am I alone in noticing this ? Chris L

Generally speaking most Belgian dealers are pretty honest but about 20 years ago some dodgy characters started selling fresh air on Ebay and a lot of British buyers lost money. What I do is actually go to the seller's house and look at any record before buying,that's of course tough if you don't live here.

Yes I have a mate who lives there, I have asked him to keep an eye out for one You never really know why this would get released.

Some years ago I bought a Younghearts - Little togetherness from a small record shop outside Cleveland, Ohio. It's vinyl and has 'Nashville Matrix' stamped in run-out. Because of the circumstances I'm assuming it's an original, I've seen plenty 1970s boots and this is different. Any thoughts or comments ? Cheers, Chris

I once read an interesting booklet about Russian/Soviet watchmaking. They used to buy clapped out Swiss watch making equipment (actually bartering with oil, wheat, coal, etc.) to get their industry kick started.

Some very sad news, Gilbert 'Gibbe' Govaert one of the founding DJs of the Belgian Popcorn scene passed away. Whilst the UK was roaring away to fast dancefloor soul music in the 1970s we call Northern Soul, Belgium had it's own unique soul scene based on a slower tempo called Popcorn. Gilbert was one of the 2 DJs who started it all and was instrumental in bringing top soul acts like Major Lance, Otis Leavill and others to Belgium. He was responsible for discovering many soul records that made it big on the Popcorn scene, many of which floated over to the UK soul scene, his big find being Sam Fletcher - I'd think it over. A smashing bloke he will be sadly missed, he's been holding up the Popcorn revival in Belgium for the last 10 years. Rest in peace friend.

For sure such an underrated writer/producer/arranger and singer, from all the conversations I've had with people who knew and worked with him he really was also a top all round nice guy. Chris Bartley says working with him was the high point of his career, everything he did was so professional. Always melodic, well arranged and produced songs, be they the hard hitting "I'm in a world of trouble" " Touch my heart" "You're gonna make me love you" or those heart rendering love songs like "I'll find a way". He's right up there with all those greats in the "old world" soul scene.

The 1973 is a legit re-release with a different instrumental break in middle.
