  1. Anybody got a decent looking reissue of I'd think it over? for a young Belgian DJ, thanks, Chris
  2. Some very sad news, Gilbert 'Gibbe' Govaert one of the founding DJs of the Belgian Popcorn scene passed away. Whilst the UK was roaring away to fast dancefloor soul music in the 1970s we call Northern Soul, Belgium had it's own unique soul scene based on a slower tempo called Popcorn. Gilbert was one of the 2 DJs who started it all and was instrumental in bringing top soul acts like Major Lance, Otis Leavill and others to Belgium. He was responsible for discovering many soul records that made it big on the Popcorn scene, many of which floated over to the UK soul scene, his big find being Sam Fletcher - I'd think it over. A smashing bloke he will be sadly missed, he's been holding up the Popcorn revival in Belgium for the last 10 years. Rest in peace friend.
  3. Have just read this, I knew him well, always sad news, rest in peace my friend.

  5. Looking for a Garnet Mimms - Looking for you. Either US or UK issue/demo, it's for a young DJ close to where I live so he's not real rich !! A decent copy at a decent price Thanks Chris
  6. A young DJ I know wants one of those grey Columbia re-issues of Angel Baby - George Carrow. If anybody has one for sale please ? Thanks Chris
  7. For sure such an underrated writer/producer/arranger and singer, from all the conversations I've had with people who knew and worked with him he really was also a top all round nice guy. Chris Bartley says working with him was the high point of his career, everything he did was so professional. Always melodic, well arranged and produced songs, be they the hard hitting "I'm in a world of trouble" " Touch my heart" "You're gonna make me love you" or those heart rendering love songs like "I'll find a way". He's right up there with all those greats in the "old world" soul scene.
  8. The 1973 is a legit re-release with a different instrumental break in middle.

  11. Got a mate looking for a copy, original, anything VG+ or better, no silly prices please, many thanks,
  12. Good heavens, what a sad loss, knew him well from the Torch days, met up with again at the Blackpool re-union in 1998 and seen him on and off since then. Condolences to his family.
  13. Will give it a listen later today. Always one of the highlights of the year.
  14. Wow done it !! Many thanks
  15. Hi I'll give it a go at Mixcloud. Thanks for tip :-)
  16. I have a 4 hour Richard Searling show from Jazz FM, made in August 2000. Both myself and Dave Burton are featured on it, we're playing some 2 hours of early NS on it and Richard Plays some of his choices too. Part of it is already on Youtube but for some reason it's been speeded up and it's a tad weird . Any suggestions, any apps or programs out there that can do that ? Thanks, Chris
  17. Anybody got one of those 1970s re-issues of "a Little lovin' " for a young DJ over on this side of the water. He doesn't wanna pay much (only a student) so reasonable priced one please. Thanks :-)
  18. Just found the digital formats I still had, quality very good. Yes "semi official" it's a long time ago but ABKCO would let anyone near their tapes, somehow they got round it.
  19. I don't have them anymore, I gave all my CDs away when I moved, I may just have them on a USB stick.
  20. There was 2 sort of semi-official CDs back in the late 90s, I bout them when I was in the US.
  21. Tony Clarke - Landslide also got sort of re released, same vinyl details but the later one in stereo !!
  22. I read an article about this records with the Dells, they didn't like it, they said it sounded too much like a Four Tops tune !
  23. Wonder why/how it got re-released? What would have been the incentive?
