  1. If I'm not mistaken there's a slower version of "A little togetherness" on their album. The Younghearts circa 1970s - looking cool.
  2. When selling a record and putting in the description "West Coast issue from the Monarch Pressing Plant" guarantees it the kiss of death............. Chris L
  3. I was wondering if there is a website that gives the total sales of UK issued CDs ? Something that's available to the public maybe ? Any info most grateful, many thanks. Chris L
  4. There was an all-dayer somewhere, I went once, thing was we had such a long drive back to south London in some rather dodgy cars we couldn't risk leaving too late for fear of having to drive in the dark Chris L
  5. Yes Barry you're right and just where do you draw the line ? You wanna play Eddie Spencer ? Does it HAVE to be on Canadian ARC or on a UK release, after all the UK release isn't a boot, you could argue it's an original, I suspect the real reason has far more to de with being snobbish, that's always been on the scene. Right it's 06.58 it's cold time for some porridge..................
  6. I think mine was Doris Troy but I can't be sure, there for Edwin Starr though
  7. No sure Mike where I could be accused of being a Soul Copper with this text : "Generally speaking the scene is a pretty mature one, if possible one should play original vinyl at a venue however it's hardly a hanging offence if the odd pressing gets played here or there (like those unreleased Motown tracks). The vocal minority that posts on this forum (aka The Soul Police) are no way representative of the NS scene at large in fact most have their heads so far up their ar**s you can see their tongues sticking out of their bellybuttons." No enforcing on my part - maybe you read into it something else ??
  8. You're welcome now go back to sleep.....................
  9. I guess H-D-H come out top, Tom Bell is up there with the best of them too.......

  11. Dave Evison played this at Stoke, meethinks in March, can't be sure which date but he did play it, it went down quite well, probably the most expensive record Dave owns Chris L

Lorenzo Manley - Swoop down on you Olympics - Same old thing Jimmy Thomas - Where there's a will Richard Temple - That beatin' rythmn The Festivals - Music Little Richard - Don't want to discuss it Rose Batiste - Hit & Run (although to be fair Ian Levine had already brought it to the Wheel) Chris L
  19. It was already going by the early 70Ts and before that was an all-nighter called the Portsmouth Marina. Started in response to the sailors (who mostly came from up North) wanting a kosher NS venue. A gaggle of the Addlestone crowd used to go............... Chris L
  20. We all know that one day we've go to go and every death is a tragedy however this one seems particularly bitter as the UK soul scene is such an intense one. Chris L
