I wrote an article about Van McCoy for Dave Moore's "There's That Beat" - the more I dug into the man the more I was in awe of him. The real highlight was tracking down and befriending David Kapralik his long time partner at Columbia/Date, freckling awesome dude !! Van McCoy has been forever synonymous with soul music and not many soul stars can match his contribution. Chris Lalor takes a look at the man, his life, his music and pays tribute to one of the few people who wear the mantle of "legendary" in complete comfort.

During 1968 to 1970 there were a large batch of earlier released UK soul records that got re-released. Can I find anywhere a list of what got released in those years?, preferably by label, to avoid scouring through some 100.000+ releases............... Any info welcome, it's for a magazine article I'm writing, any assistance is welcome, thanks. This for example got released originally in 1966 on UK CBS and then re-released in 1969 on Direction.......................

Started reading this book, looks good, takes me way............way back.............Northern Soul even gets a mention. The book makes the point that the early scene was very, very London based, so it was normal for us to grow up in that environment. When the "scene" changed to include funk, that was our departure theme tune. Thank heavens Tony Rounce siad "Go Norf Young Men"..................... Good book, thanks for the tip people

Got to shake his hand and say "hello" to him on his UK when this made the charts, at the Bournemouth Chelsea Village. We knocked on his door some H U G E bouncer type came out and said "Not tonight lads" and off we went just at that moment he came out and my mate Nigel shouted "Hey Curtis" he turned and wrong footed his bodyguards and me and Nige got to say "hello" Devestated when the Impressions broke up (well when he left anyway) "You've been cheatin' " was our gangs theme song
