  1. Wouldn't mind knowing more about the Ringleaders, all I know is they came from Saginaw, close-ish to Detroit one group member Edgar Donahue. Looks like a one recording wonder ?
  2. I talked to : Chris Bartley Van McCoy's half-sister Shelby Singleton Chris Jackson David Kapralik All had memories of him but couldn't help any further. Chris Bartley said that Tony Talent was a real singer and not VMc under a different name, apparently he was a 13 year old protege of VMc. BTW Chris Jackson was well mental and off his rocker when we talked No, he sung other people's material but did most with VMc. Maybe the Shrinettes on SS could shed some light on him, hopefully it's the same BR who recorded on that label.
  3. Bobby Reed is someone I'd like to find. By all accounts he recorded for a few labels and worked with icon van McCoy. In spite of strenious efforts no joy in finding him. Just love "I'll find a way"
  4. Jerry Cook was a LA based singer who worked with the legendary arranger Arthur Wright. Jerry moved out of the singing business and now lives in Arkansas and up until 5 years ago was running a dog handling company (for security firms) I did speak with his then girlfriend but couldn't Jerry to talk on the 'phone. Didn't go and see him just in case he set the dogs on me..........LOL............. BTW there's a whole album full of his recordings at Capitol records. He had about 4 releases, the last one about 1971. I got to talk to someone there who did re-releases of old material but he wasn't interested
  5. I think I met the seller a couple of times...............
  6. 20 bids.....................
  7. Re-listed........................ https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Northern-Soul-Impressions-Youve-been-cheatin-ABC-10750-/370621730652?pt=UK_Records&hash=item564ac6cf5c#ht_1201wt_1265
  8. I had one for sale on Ebay at the same time, only got £36.00
  9. Like sex but without all the hard work
  10. 2 types of demos.
  11. I think it went for about £65.00..............................
  12. Steve Gonna talk to Gilbert G tonight, he's a matrix maniac "I'll Be Bark"........................
  13. Pete if SABAM has sanctioned it then it's a legitimate release here too.
  14. It is a legitimate issue, I see SABAM on it, that's the "Socit d'Auteurs Belge - Belgische Auteurs Maatschappij". So they've authorised it. So I guess it really is like that Chubby Checker on Spanish London.
  15. Yes I think you did, just got one today for £109.00 compensation for an expensive Chubby Checker
  16. Ringleaders - Baby what has happened to our love.............................
  17. Going a bit off topic, this is a great little video : https://vimeo.com/24079101
  18. D'you know, the release itself could be legit but the company pressing the actual record and using the Tollie label could well be "fake" and therefore a 1/2 boot !!
  19. Yes probably, not sure that's the case in Holland but certainly is in Portugal.
  20. Belgian law says that after a certain period music is in the public domain, that being the case a lot of stuff gets an official release. No that Chubby Checker is legit, bad comparison on my side.
  21. Well certainly we Brits would call it a re-issue, probably from the 70s Gilbert now plays a look-a-like and keeps his original tucked away. Belgium uses a loophole in the law to issue records and CDs that otherwise couldn't released (as does Portugal). It's certainly not legit like my Belgian Epic Major Lance or Olivier Bille's Belgian Immediate PP Arnold more like that Spanish Chubby Checker.....................aah well.............
  22. Sam Fletcher was originally a "Belgian Popcorn" discovery, played by Gilbert Govaert in the very early 70s. It is a Belgian release, the text is in Dutch(Flemish) it would take me longer than the 6 hours to find out it's authenticty, so someone's going to get a bargain or a re-release !!
