  2. there a reggae record by a Larry Clinton on a obscure jamacian label was listed on ebay a couple of months back .not sure if it was same guy no sound file
  3. He's mistaken John first copy defo Rob Smith shop it came from a Nottingham soul collector Mick Gordon from Beeston good friend of John Poole, The late Andy Lee. there was some great stuff in the collection including a full run of Mirwood demo's a Jackie Beavers on revilot plus a load of Renfro stuff
  4. Hi Mark that's correct when I found it Rob was quick of the mark to say it wasn't for sale and said what can we cover it up as , hence the lord connection leading to it being covered as Kenny smith. I later brought the same copy back from Guy when he eventually sold it would be late 84 as I also brought a few other bits from him at the time. it's in my top 20 in echoes from that time for rock city and the palias Saturday nite sessions .Like John say's iv'ehad the conversation with him a few times and I only seen two other copies for sale in the last 15 or so years. The copy I had of Guy eventually went to Tony clayton along with Little John " wait and see" and Betty Turner " wind s kept laughing " that would be late 87 .
  5. first copy came out of rob smith's shop I found it upstairs while sorting stock for him when I worked there .it came from a large collection of mainly l.a. soul records that rob had recently brought for a local soul collector . that was late 78 rob played it out at local notts venues till guy brought it from him .
  6. would be pleased to help out got thousands of photos from Stafford, 1oo club , etc which my sister took was the best time on the scene for many of use also d.j.d quiet a lot in the 80.s and 90,s so can contribute, as much as possible be great to have the dark years put down in the history books
  7. MY old lester tipton cover up from 84 before I sold it keb , great sound not seen for sale to often

  10. Hi Mike there are three versions I know off all acetates the two 60's versions are two different lead vocalist as far as I know then there's a slightly more funky edged version that's been doing the rounds of late . The slightly fast 60's version is the one that was originally played covered up as the Detroit prophets by Dave Withers the prophets and monitors were both speculation as to the true identity to the artists at the time originally played. the slightly faster version is definatly a different lead vocalist to the version on the this is northern soul c.d which came out 10+ years ago as iv'e slowed it down to match the slower version and the vocals are pitched higher hope that help mate atb Steve

Hi steve there bloody brilliant weve seen them four times now Steve ( J ) jackson.s son Dave plays drums and Andy Davis plays bongos in the band and the sax players awesome great choice for a northern cover group most of the group are also involved with other bands doing different types of music
  13. my vote goes to Doc and the Echoes " why wonder " vocal sounds like theye been on the p.ss
  14. I know this as already been said BUT 77 venues this weekend including allnighters and weekenders come on people get real this is killing the scene .Its tearing it apart ,there,s no way all these events will be full we need some centralisation to get everyone back together one large building everything in one room
  15. film showing at Peterborough showcase cinema tickets £15 on 18 October only trouble is its same night as the ST IVES reunion
  16. the denise & the devotions track shy guy was originally played as pat lewis the cut on the 12" is of poor quality and finishes a good ten seconds before the cut of the track I have

  19. it was released on a u.s. 7" as well also wondered why it was booted
  20. so much for nation wide cinema release :wicked:
  21. how can you not mention an allnighter that's run three times longer than the bloody casino ???? also how cant you mention the numerous weekenders that are now part of the sense culture . beyond words you get waterman ,and the likes prattling on when you could have the countries top d.j, !!!!! and no interview with Soul Sam , now that would have got tongues wagging lol .He could have given a fair prospective of the scene , He's been there seen it done it and still as faith in what he plays. :)
  22. The only reason they missed out 81 to present day was because up till 10 years ago the three main interviewees were missing from the scene. so couldn't comment on it, plus said venues of the 80's and 90's weren't run by them!!!!
  23. p.s.....l also thought at one point l heard FW in the background? you did hear F .W, in the background sounded like the Levine backing track though
