  1. Not sure tony I've had three copies of LNS over the years can't remember who had any of them must be a age thing . Do remember it having cue burn though so it may have got to you via who I sold it to. When I got it of keb it was my top want did the deal on stage at Stafford traded cairos which both keb & guy wanted
  2. Love stuff like this my guilty pleasure a bit of doo wop on a Sunday morning
  3. Think he let one go then brought it again at a later date
  4. Hi Rich I sold him my copy around 85 also sold him Sebastian Williams too much on sounds of soul covered as Lester Tipton think I had masters covered as Lee Andrews at the time. The week before he had the cairos off me. Good old days of record dealing I did get little nicky sole out of him lol .Have to catch up sometime .you still in Notts?
  5. Is this rich Broughton if so you sold your masters to me not keb I sold it keb at rock City
  6. It was also the cover up name for harry nilsson you can take your love on tower in the 80's if Johnny can well was covered up I'd hazard at a guess at len Barry seeming as b side to you don't want me anymore is i. O.U which was also recorded by len
  7. Looks legit to me had three copies of this superb tune over the years two great sides what does the print say on right side under crimson music? ?
  8. Kae Williams is the dog's do da's monster sound over the last 10 + years or so proper 60's soul
  9. Pathetic more money than sense .you can pick up a handful of quality tunes for that amount it's a piece of plastic for gods sake
  10. One of my all time favourite oldies Pete you never hear it out probably cause it's not worth a kings ransom was great to see you at skeggy mate at Steve
  11. No djs collectors in cambs hmm think not sir more rare records in this area than you can wave a stick at as for they don't travel we do just don't choose to go to venues that play the same old week in week out.
  12. No one's dissing the young uns my step son Brett Smith is one of those and he loves it all .like chalky said so many oldies don't get a look in due to lack of imagination and lack of knowledge in some cases . I still love oldies but not the same handful week in week out that's why I stay away from these venues. When I had my oldies collection I could have told you were every sing one was played first. Djs these days don't wanna know just have a box of big tunes to fill the floor. Some of the young djs who I talk to wanna know where stuff was played .so why should the scene revolve around Wigan .only thing any good about it was Richards spot then later Gary Rushbrooke and Sam. More imagination please it's not hard.
  13. Totally agree mate. Most djs these days seem to be mute so they can spin two more sounds hence not creating an atmosphere and connecting with the punters . Like you said no characters either .With the amount of djs these days new spins should be easier than ever before to break if they all pushed new stuff instead of the tried and tested play it safe way
  14. Agree with you on this one mark .and what's the point of spending a kings ransom on something that the dj who's on before you can also play. In fact nearly all the dj.s at these venues probably have the same sounds in their boxes. Plenty of stuff out there if you can be bothered to look.
  15. Well when we go out the venue as to be full of like minded folk wanting to hear either new stuff or underplayed not the it's been hammered to death for the last 40 odd years week in week out sounds like already been said there's still a few venues that tick the box. Quality of soul Notts .soul not dole horse and groom caliante club Peterborough dab of soul to name a few. All depends on what you want out of a night. Definitely wouldn't go near a oldies night if it was only venue on the calendar.
  16. When first played in mid 80's this was£ 100 had three copies at one point one of Rob marriott one off Gary Rushbrooke and a copy I got from the states can't for life of me remember who had them when I sold up mid 90's but remember all three went for £700 altogether think your looking at £ 2'500 plus for a minter these days but like already said the masses wouldn't know it as they weren't around good luck with selling:-):-):-)
  17. 56 soul night in in my our music room no talc no handbags just good tunes no holds barred . Scene's gone mad and to an extent have to agree with chalky
  18. No need for a blurred line that's what's screwed the scene up in the first place pigeon holing the music so we end up with a few hundred still wanting new fresh sounds and everyone else in a time warp. Not how it should be.
  19. Awesome chalky also got these tapes at home keb at his best got several tapes of keb & guy so will check see if there's anything different on them I'm sure there may be due to the turn over of records in that period Regards Steve
  20. I did wonder myself ?? Think soul brother records had something to do with it .
  21. Not sure John played this at the casino . I know Rob Smith from Notts had been playing it since 77 though John may have picked up on it after hearing it in robs shop when we found it :-):-)
  22. It's all about the soul :-):-)
  23. Should have gone to the original skeggy weekender no fights there just two rooms of top class soul :-):-)
  24. Think its an age thing Steve most people I talk to at major venues and weekenders seem to feel the same were not getting any younger and those of us that have stuck with the scene for 40 odd years are beginning to feel it taking it's toll. Most want to be in bed by three lol. As for travelling well think the days of a venue pulling major crowds is long gone the big names don't seem to have the crowd pulling capacity anymore plus to many venues in certain areas. Regards Steve
  25. Watch out cleethorpes and skeggy certain promoters may be knocking on your doors:O:O
