  1. You just know that would never happen. There's nothing great about the scene at present .With the one acception of the youngster's . The scene we know so well is splintered beyond repair .far to many nights far to many wannabes the only true good side is the music. The rest is a pale shade of what we had. .
  2. My votes with Aw great artist awful tune you just know what's coming when you hear northern soul mentioned on radio 2 as for Margaret little vocal bit shaky in parts but that's because she was probably mid teens and those whom slag it off probably have it at the top of their wants list if truth be known
  3. Now here a tune that imho deserves a few more plays from the guys who have a copy great uptempo 60's soul dancer .which on first hearing sound white .but you guest their not
  4. Another slab of 60, s dance floor class you don't hear to often now .I believe it's another acetate .always gets me on the floor .and rumour has it it's by a well known artist too.
  5. Trouble is like stated every dog and his dinner want to be a dj some spend a fortune on overplayed same old other spend on big ticket plays. But none have the balls to play anything that's not played .Their all sheep wanting 5 minutes of fame. It doesn't have to cost a kings ransom to play a set of underplayed or never played .It just takes a little knowledge .
  6. That appears to be the problem most weekends in most area's has been for the past 10 years or more folk will never learn pick and choose Wisley is my moto now.
  7. Poppy my a..e as Jim from royal family would say this is about as far removed from pop as you could possibly get. Some folk need a ear test lol. One that still gets me to the floor when I hear it :-):-)
  8. The latter years of the casino were definitely a sad time , the appreciation for new sounds had dwindled due to the oldies nights but this paved the way for better things. Stafford ,100club and more recently lifeline picking up the mantle .but allas, the days of a big 1000plus nighter ever playing new discoveries to the masses is long gone. Certain promoters and multi room venues have not helped the cause. So forward and onward upfront venues may be smaller .but unlike the masses we are not sheep.my memories of the latter years of the casino are great the tunes we heard are still some of the best to be put on vinyl Steve
  9. Thanks guys for your input
  10. Great info John I did wonder if part of the cheques had been re based to Thailand and formed the nucleus of salt and pepper, also I wonder if the label itself belonged to one of them .With salt and pepper being heatwave thai ???
  11. Hi Steve I heard that rumour from Chris fletcher from Notts who used to publish the soul source magazine
  12. Ok guys was discussing this at dab anniversary Saturday night both these are on the same label all be it salt and pepper being a thai release. Both are Co written by nardi .wonder if any of the group members were the same
  13. Is it also the same Dusty(dustin) Wilson who did " have some sympathy " on Judas and " it's going to be a tragedy " with the corals on mutt ??
  14. Two great tunes the Bedford label has two different designs as well the uptempo help me somebody side was first played at the casino late 1979 by Gary Rushbrooke covered up as Lorraine chandler . Now the other side is getting it's turn at crossover and upfront venues
  15. Hi Geoff it's actually " I think we can make it " miracles lost and found 1959 -1964 c from 1999
  16. Love them original Skegness weekend . Prestatyn first few years till the oldies fully took over the main rooms. Dab of soul .souls unite Eastbourne. Cleethorpes u till last 4 years. And the crown jewel skeggy .not a great lover of the big 5-7room weekenders usually full of market stalls prefer the smaller it's about the quality of the music not the amount of £'s venues
  17. Hi rich I ended up with your copy for a while let it go in a swap deal at a record fair in Notts about 15 years ago Regards Steve p
  18. Ok guys need gals two un released tracks from motown that only got a c d release both by the miracles the first being entitled " we can make it " vintage early motown with a catchy back beat and great harmonies from smokey and the guys. The second track features Claudette robinson on lead entitled " Mr Misery " not to similar vocals to Linda Griner which is what I had it covered up as a plodding mid tempo number but catchy Comments guys
