  1. Rob I'm in touch with Carl I'll see if he can shed more light on it
  2. Totally agree I would much sooner have to travel a 1000 miles to listen Butch than have every wanna be soul nite dj thrash them to death. Without tunes like this the real soul scene wouldn't exist
  3. It may be guess work and theories like most things that are discovered are to start with. You have to sift though hearsay rumours etc and eventually end up with the truth . A little detection
  4. Oops revolution getting wires crossed must be the morphine just had a operation lol
  5. Now was Danny's group 2nd resurrection the group that recorded for stanson records?? They all seem to black but Danny may have left them by then
  6. It appears some people don't like to be informed. Why is try to find out if Danny Monday is his real name and if it isn't he maybe involved in other records also played on the soul scene ripping things apart. It's gathering information on a artist who I'm sure a lot of people may want to learn more about. It's the history part of the scene. If no one had found the record all those years ago it would have been forgotten forever. Let's keep digging. We may get a pleasant surprise
  7. The comment came from the soul stutter blog on Danny Monday from 2014 there seems to be no more comments so it looks like they also hit a brick wall. I'm sure with further research we can find the true identity of Mr Monday if that's his real name.
  8. 9. Just found this Danny was white, I knew him and his wife as a kid in L.A. He had a band then "Danny Monday and the 2nd Revolution" I saw him open for Wilson Pickett. They were too good and Mr. Pickett did not like it! Reply

  11. It may also have been Danny Hamilton who was guitarist in the Avantis with the brothers. Seems more logical to me but that's just mho I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of it between us
  12. That's the one only a handful like that the rest where white label
  13. That's probably the hitsville masters lp from the late 80's also features suspicion forever in my heart etc which was a boot. Believe the marriott bros had a hand in it
  14. How can you dis Richard as well as his shows and working tirelessly to promote black American music of all genres he has Influenced so many peoples taste in the music. He thoroughly deserves this. The only dj at the casino worth listening to in the latter years apart from the master Soul Sam. Whom should have a accolade himself.
  15. Sir Russ will get the wooden spoon for services for crucifing the soul scene with casino classics
  16. There's 6 more nights to come at the brit before January 2020 yes remember the shops on Alfreton Rd found some great unknowns there in early 80's. We also had destiny records kev Roberts shop were robs shop is. The Brit was known for breaking many new sounds over the years to many to mention. Its a sad end to a great venue
  17. Remember these well. Terry Christian also did a stint on radio Derby to if I remember right which guy also did
  18. That's the venue next door the brit britannia's next to the football ground. The the boat as pictured a known local rock venue then then union which Mick H ran for several years he now hosts soul nighters at the boat. But the Brit is the true Notts soul venue
  19. Not sure if this has been done but in January 2020 the iconic soul club The Brit is to close its doors for good. Too make way for extensions to the city ground. This is the venue I first djayed at in 78 having been collecting for 4 years I was given the chance by then residents John Poole and Andy Lee doing the warm up set for the 1st hour. 3 years down the line I became the main resident with John and Gary Rushbrooke both leaving I continued for 2 more years with guest djs. We decided to call it a day. 2years later I was back with Rich Broughton Derek Allen and Rob Smith playing the big Stafford sounds of the day. I recent years I've returned as a guest no longer living in Notts and will do so with fellow previous residents for one last time. What's your memories of this iconic venue
  20. Best of the bunch has to be the Stafford biggie the soul set will you ever learn
  21. Denny used to live round the corner from me in Stapleford. He had some great tunes, he was resident dj at the brit before John Poole and Andy Lee. See his brother Gary occasionally.
  22. First went late 74 early 75 you still had to wear a tie to get through the doors we would pass them out the toilet window to anyone who didn't have one lol. Yes the seats were green the dj both to the left originally. Then they moved it centre stage late 79 ish. It moved again in the 90,s to the right hand side of the dance floor. The rotating floor in the bali hi remained until the late 90,s dj there from 83 till 88 in the bali hi Saturday night session I ran prior to then going Stafford via taxi lol. Good old days.
