So so many ignored / forgotten / not on trend sides this southern soul giant cut. One of the southern soul greats who crossed over and gave the wider world a taste of southern/deep and soul ballads. R.I.P Percy and a heartfelt thank you from this soul fan for providing such a fantastic catalogue and moments in soul.
-
Pretty much what I was thinking too Pete. As a (irregular) seller at times would be happy at this rate. Listing fees and/or commissions etc on ebay/discogs eats up a fair few quid anyway over a few months. Maybe Mike & the team can add a 'subs' or 'verified seller' button??
-
Great news from what could have been a very expensive rip off/mistake. Hats off to everyone or anyone who helped.
-
It is indeed. Still looking folks! Thanks!
-
Evening All. Just after the following 2 southern soul 45s. 'Proper' VG copies acceptable. Not rare or in-demand nor expensive Bill Brantley - It's You Baby / Grandaddy (SS7) George Perkins - Man In Love / When You Try To Use A Good Man (Soul Power) I'm out for the evening but all PM's will be answered when I get back etc. Many thanks in advance for your time.
-
To echo everybody's' sentiments I'm shocked and deeply saddened by this news. I never met Bob but conversed and emailed with him over the last few years about nothing but soul.. not prices..not rarity..just ...soul.. Thanks Boba, for everything.

Awesome - New - Soul Track Discovery - 1St Feb 2014
Harrogatesoul replied to Sean Hampsey's topic in All About the SOUL
No one on this thread is or has mentioned about how the scene has never been better... it is simply a promotion of a piece of unreleased S.O.U.L that to quite a few of us is exciting and screams of quality. This is not 1973 or whatever year people care to quote. It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea i realise that but to some of us it's new fresh and exiting and long may companies such as Kent continue to find these little nuggets and continue the great tradition of soul in the uk. -

Harrogatesoul replied to Sean Hampsey's topic in All About the SOUL
Edit: On the McCall discog it shows 1967 on the Dore listing it states 1970! 843 - Toussaint McCall - I Would Rather Have Nothing At All / Sweet Tea - 1970 However.. There is also another Dore 45 (not on SKM unless I'm going blind!) Mary b/w Sweet Tea - which shows number 842 which is The Whispers Dip b/w It Only Hurts For A Little While. This is wrongly given a 605 number on Discogs as that's early 60s. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Toussaint-McCall-Mary-Sweet-Tea-Funk-Soul-45-2-sider-Dore-M-HEAR-/200942474583 "‹So definitely post-Ronn as the recording would suggest! Bloody ace whenever it was recorded! Q to Ady - Is this part of a Dore package or a Toussaint project? Rich -

Absolutely fabulous stuff Sean! And top marks to everyone involved at Ace/Kent for continuing to dig out these nuggets from the soul mines. I await its' imminent release both on CD and 45 (C'mon Ady..you know you want to!) Fabulous. Made my day that little teaser. Rich -
The point I made earlier Jocko in a way - get the 45 buying public (be they young or old) interested in buying the legal re-issues and un-issued material that people like Dave Welding et al are putting out. Much better to see people buying an Outta-Site 45 than a blank crappy press off eBay. Let's at least try, as you say, to engage the 45 buying public to go down the legitimate route rather than the illegitimate one.
-
I would have thought the finding of a 50 count box or more affects the price of originals (in the short term or longer in some cases) and not the fact it get's booted. Well not these days - am sure it happened during the 70s.. Back to the question in hand (again) the people who do the illegal bootlegging are surely well known? Or is the fact that these days you have legal outlets such as , oh, say Ebay, who are happy to have illegal product flooded on their pages. The fact is they don't care about silly little records that earn them god knows how much in commissions. If I provided an outlet for people to sell counterfeit handbags, jeans.. oh hang on that would be an well known auction site... If the outlet is there to sell this stuff then 'whoever' it is, and I'm sure there are quite a few! will continue to sell it.
