  1. Saw one without a pic sleeve go for £60 ish recently on ebay . . Jm auctioned one I think not so long back for 3 figures. I've got a UK Motown 12 of this - not sure how much the twelve goes for...???? ATB Rich
  2. Never been a chart /rock person . Still buy / listen to classic Blues / Jazz / Ska / 6ts UK mod stuff / but on CD these days.. Used to collect all types of black music - but selling everything off now as I just want to concentrate on soul 45s / LP /12s. So all ' soulful ' house / mo wax / dance type suff / 90s R&B Swing ( ) etc all going... Sick of most modern stuff - ' next big thing ' type bands... yeah right...whatever.... if these people are all so talented why does it take most of em 2 / 3 years to make a couple of albums. . . . Then you never hear of em again. . . I worked for HMV for 10 years and obviously heard everything and anythjing.. never had an effect on me like soul music has done. by the time I left - everything sounded stale and samey. Arctic Monkeys ? Lets see how long they'll be around... Jamiroquai - Love him or hate him - I think the guys got talent..Same for Prince - Going strong now for nearly 30 years... Only CD in my collection which resembles ' pop / rock ' ? Lampchop - Nixon - Now theres an album.... ATB Rich
  3. No blummin dates for ooop north tho . . . But to anyone who hasnot seen Terry Callier live - don't miss out . Rich
  4. Think theres a post somewhere abuot him playing jazz cafe sometime soon. Though other UK dates might be a bit short.. Had the pleasure of seeing him various times over the years in london -Mesmeric and simply quite amazing gigs. Rich
  5. Maybe the (ex) buyer should post a negative feedback regarding this disc so anyone reading it will think twice about bidding on any ( potential ) similar items. Rich
  6. Spot on with the Womack 45 Gareth - truly great 45 and def. quite a hard one to get hold of . Freddie North - Hold Back - First heard it on Kents excellent Uptown Downsouth CD - Cant find a copy either... anyone know value ?? JM / Brownie not got em either. ATB Rich
  7. Ah I get you. Butch is certainly a Knight Of The Round 45. Prob. best collection of unissued material ? Rich
  8. In what way Ted ? Anything interesting ?
  9. Red's... rememeber them days on brixton high street well.. Once threw up in a soho record store whilst suffering from food poisoning .. legged it before I got thrown out... Was near the house 12s section so no soulies suffered! Rich
  10. Who would you like to see get a retrospective / issue of material released / unreleased ? Am sure record companies have missed / neglected some fine artists and material or have they ? Anyone have a ' quest ' for a certain artist or label? ATB Rich
  11. Flip side aint too bad either ' Nothing In This World .. Rich
  12. Not sure about the later 54s - theres All For You b/w I'll Love You ( Teardrop ) on JM £30 Color My Love ( Mindtripper ) - 150 on JM - Not heard this one tho... Rich
  13. It is Pete yes. Was chatting to a doo wop / R&R collector recently about the same issue. Just curious really . . Cheers Rich
  14. Didnt mean to sound like a d*** . Just there seems to be 45s to satisfy some demand... but say Mr Soul ( Genuine ) not seen at all- nor George Pepp ( last one I saw for sale was Blackburn ..donkeys ago ) Seems like there not likely to turn up ..ever??? Yours sheepishly Rich
  15. love the xylophone Pete.......
  16. Forgetting the Frank Wilson disc (s - DID any more ever turn up? ) what 45s are currently the most demanded and are not actually turning / or ever turned up ? Perennial wants / just dog rare . etc. that people are always after but just never turn up ? Just wondering.. ATB Rich
  17. Firm R&B territory Stapler! Ace ace tune Trev . . . shouldas bought this cheap when I had too many chances..... One that floats me boat is She's My baby ( Duke 452 ) ATB Rich
  18. https://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Royal%20Memphi...593:page=tracks Clip of the ' Tumblin Down ' - Fantastic CD set there too. Still looking for the A side clip. The Don Bryant 54 is on there too. ATB Rich
  19. And then we could make proper soul records! Cut em on 45 - sell 'em on as new discoveries... oh hang on..thats already been done by someone.. I guess the age of the ' synth ' made it cheaper ( and a whole lot dire ) for ppl to have 'strings ' in their recordings. I guess these days its uneconomical to have a load of musicians in the studio .. ATB Rich
  20. Blummin marvellous Billy - Seen a copy on JM. Will search out CD too. Many thanks. ATB Rich
  21. Nice 45 Billy. Label ? Cheers Rich
  22. Good point - one that I've been thinking about recently too ( no I dont have a life... ) . Obviously the big labels had an in house band - Stax / Motown etc. But I would guess you hired an orchestra / players on whatever rates they got / charged. Bigcities in America ( and all over the place ) have their own orchestras I guess knocking out a few records for soul labels was easy money compared to playing classical works... Considering the cost of hiring string sections etc. the cost would be prohibitive today . Would be an intersting exercise to ' cost ' a full on 60s soul production at todays rate ? ?? ATB Rich
  23. Cheers Gareth. Have seen the name Frierson thru my 45s so will check out. Sure its on a Hi comp somehwere so I'll have a root. Got outbid on a copy last year on ebay... missed the end of it. Think I went up to about 40.. Now the Don bryant disc.... Your absolutley right. Monu (mental!) ground shaking drop to the floor southern. Bought one a few months back for a couple of quid ( sold for the shop side ) . Never never tire of this disc.If a little green man dropped out of the sky and asked ' What is soul ? ' this would be one of em i'd spin... Tony Ashleys version also v.v. good. But never seen it for sale... A lot rarer I think. ATB Rich
