    RIP Aretha

Can't express how it feels right now losing an icon, a legend and a lady who brought so much to our soul music infected lives. Her influence on me as a collector and soul music lover is undeniable and unmeasureable. Say hi to Bobby W for my wonderful Queen of soul. Rest in peace. X
  3. Not just me then. Still all messed up for me though. Thanks for the reply.
  4. My usual searches on my phone/tablet don't throw up hardly any listings. My soul 45s on auction ending soon search brings up hardly anything?? Usually its 5000 items. Checked filters etc but all seems a bit cock. Anyone else having issues? (apologies if in wrong forum)
  5. Can only echo the sentiments above. Wonderful addition to the collection and looking forward to the next installment!
  6. Ordered! Excited! Good luck to you guys on what is an exciting label in anticipation! Rich
  7. Running with the supply and demand point - Don't forget the upsurge and changing collecting trends in collecting of funk / deep soul / ballads / sweet / lowrider et al over the years or currently. The times I've wanted or bid for a deep/ballad cut that just happened to be on the flip of a northern or funk 45 resulting in rocketing in price. There's lots of folk chasing certain records all over the world now for different sides. It isn't just northern and Dj's. Us armchair collectors are suffering too! All in all here's to a healthy world wide collecting scene of this great music we all love. And long may it continue. Prices will fluctuate , demand will rise and fall. Bootlegs will continue and so will the 'at any cost I want that 45' collector. Christ, the art world is still being stung with fakes and achieving record breaking prices for originals. Sound familiar? And we're only babies compared to that world!

  14. Good for you chaser hope they go well for you. With the love of vinyl etc these days you think\see there's a younger crowd or is it all us 40\50\60 + die hards? Lots of soul etc sold at your fairs?
  15. Same for me Dylan these days - I'm an armchair collector / listener for a number of years as you know and I keep threatening to get out and about but bloody work always gets in the way! I miss the social side of collecting and know fairs these days are probably not what they were but interested all the same. Like the record hunting/discoveries thread stateside am sure there's stories out there from our own uk shores... One of the last ones I went to was in skipton a good 6 or 7 few years ago and scored a decent stack of stax 45s inc Wendy rene, oscar mack , for next to nothing. Guess it's confined to nostalgia unless you do the big USA fairs or Utrecht etc?
  16. Having spent my formative years going to fairs at venues such as The Griffin in Leeds , Roundhay, black music fairs in Manchester in the mid late eighties etc etc and only in the last ten or fifteen years visited fairs sporadically are fairs these days worth going to in this armchair / internet world we live in now? Working as a retail manager my weekends are work committed and the odd one I fancy going to falls on a work day usually... Also, used to go to the black music fairs when I lived in London ( run by DT records was it in north west London ?) and wonder why there aren't regular black music fairs these days? Stories/comments / tips / recommendations welcome! Aside from record stalls at soul nights I musically grew up and educated myself at fairs. Perish the thought of what I used to miss - doesn't bare thinking about!
  17. Hi ! Wanted: Bobby McClure She's Miss Wonderful \ Doing It Right On Time (Hi ISSUE) Will take a solid proper VG copy as a minimum. No writing on labels \ must play well for grading. Please PM with condition & price. Thanks! All sorted!!!
  18. Thanks for these Sean . I was too young for these days much to my regret! Fabulous records and 2 volumes to play whilst filing 45s and cleaning the house on Thursday! Fair few gone on the infinite wants list too.
  19. Fabulous full of soul mix Sean really enjoying it. Any chance of a playlist?
  20. Amen to that john. So many great under rated \ unknown singers have passed on not fully knowing , if at all, just how much their work means to people to this day around the globe. Thankfully I think and hope tommy knows this. A legend. A true master of his craft.
  21. Many thanks John much appreciated.
  22. Thanks Paul much appreciated. May have thought wrong about the ITB list!
  23. I've yet to get johns book but that is more of an a-z (first half) from memory. Think it was john who did the voices article , and the ITB list from various contributions?
  24. Evening! I don't have my magazines collection here and I need the Top 100 soul LP's listings from Voices & In The Basement if anyone has them to hand (think they both did one?!) I thought there was a thread on here but I can't seem to find one? Thanks in advance.
