Look Whats Just Out! - A Stunning Compilation Of Soul!
Harrogatesoul commented on Sean Hampsey's article in News Archives
That might be my fault I'm afraid - Certainly on Amazon anyway. Bought an extra copy for a friend (and it showed only 1 left) as a birthday gift - though I'm sure there are plenty of other soul sellers with stock. Just to re-iterate on the forthcoming Fame CD (or CD's?) the years of posts on the southern soul forum and stop starts on the whole project would make this one of the most eagerly awaited re-issue programmes going. Personally cannot wait - do we have a finger in the air release date at all? -
I don't think many have seen a blue one. Very very rare unless I'm mistaken.

Look Whats Just Out! - A Stunning Compilation Of Soul!
Harrogatesoul commented on Sean Hampsey's article in News Archives
Yes do tell Steve! Have all the rights and archive material being sorted out as i know there were rumours of problems and copyright/ownership? Ordered a copy of Steppin' Stone and really really cannot wait. The first 2 volumes were winners in themselves and this looks like its going to top them! It's fantastic to know there's still great music out there still being discovered and issued. Hats off to everyone at Ace/Kent. -
$15,000 Single For Sale - Rarest In The World
Harrogatesoul replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
Nice tune but completely way out on price surely?. And from a guy with no feedback?? Although he does have a large walk in popcorn store apparently.... He could say where couldn't he? -
Zulema - Great Voice / Fantastic Albums / Dancers
Harrogatesoul replied to The Tempest's topic in Look At Your Box
Love this ladys' work - Absolutley love 'If This World Were Mine'. Her 45s are cheap as chips and can be hoovered up quite easily. Well worth collecting her work. WIKI LINK -
Not sure if anyones mentioned... Jimmy Robins - I Just Can't Please You (Jerhart) Plus another 2 from me: OV Wright - We're Still Together (Hi) Absolute class dancer from the last days of Hi. Free Movement - Harder I Try (Columbia) Fantasic group soul.

Would i be wrong in saying some dj's don't actually amass/collect 45s in a big way that a collector might?? Would much rather listen to the collector who as you say has 45s that they consider worth playing out/hearing as opposed to the 'hot boxer' . Much more interesting IMHO.

A Few Nice Tunes Up For Grabs - Kool Blues / Mad Lads /
Harrogatesoul replied to Gaz Simon's topic in Record Sales
Plus you get the KILLER AWESOME deep flip thrown in too. -
Oldie: Old Person Oldie: Played at Wigan/Mecca/Wheel/ etc etc Oldie: Just an old record. Oldies stations would play 30s-80s. No? Anything can be an oldie to somebody just as much an oldie can be a 'newie' to some ears. It all depends on your experience and/or longevity to soul music. Does it not? Simply really. If you want to then go on and list hundreds of oldies and decide what is and isnt. Fine. But its kinda boring IMHO. It's quite a simple answer.

3 more current faves: Dells - Closer (Cadet) Ted Taylor - I Wanna Be Part Of You (Ronn) Solaris - You & Me (Dana)
-
Don't think they are boots Matt (Could be wrong) Are they not part of Jazzman records? Ala the Funk 45 series etc? It's just like when Daybreak got re-issued. Some went for silly money on ebay. I got between £10 & £20 for copies I bought from HMV for £3
-
3 Deepies/Southern from me: Ollie Nightingale - Standing On Your Promise / It's A Sad Thing (Memphis) RB Greaves - Home To Stay (Atco) Percy Sledge - Rainbow Road (Atlantic) Proper 3 for £20 (or better!) all day long.
-
Great research from Andy as usual - His story of Shrine as read in Shades of Soul all those years ago widened this young mans eyes to the depth of the soul scene and the people involved and thanks to the hard work of people like Andy make it all a little more real and relevant. Well done indeed. As an aside from this - Is Margaret aware of the 're-issue' of her track a couple of years ago? Dont want to cause a storm but were they official in any way? Or is a case of the bootleggers taking illegal advantage (again!).

What Format Is Best For A New Release ?
Harrogatesoul replied to Dave Thorley's topic in All About the SOUL
If the music is done justice by its format then by all means go for a 12" EP. I doubt many would balk at a 12 release if thats the best format. It is supposed to be whats in the grooves that counts after all! Not sure how all the financials work out but would have thought a limited run of vinyl would certainly be worth it. -
Wanted: Sugar Bear Johnson - When Your Jones Come Down 45
Harrogatesoul replied to Aerynn's topic in Record Wants
Just one copy showing in stock Dave. If you add an item to cart then put in say a 100 quantity it'll show up how many is in stock or available. I doubt he would add one to stock each time one sold. But could be wrong! -
LITTLE OSCAR-THE MESSAGE-SUPREME BLUES - Always liked this. Great tune! Rich
-
3 from the top of my head: Whispers - Needle In A Haystack / Seems Like I Gotta Do Wrong (Soul Clock) Vitamin E - Sharing (Buddah) Al Wilson - Be Concerned (Playboy)
-
I dare say that if your a big hitter / serious collector/ dj who spends a lot of money with their favourite/regular dealers etc would get first dibs on new/rare bits they turn up. Bit like the antiques game - when something turns up you have customers who'll snap their hand off / collect certain pieces.

Or god forbid Steve Cropper

Can't recall seeing a boot of this - but could be wrong. I think when the seller states 'copies' he just means more than one copy rather than a boot. Bloody cheap finishing price though!
-
Does anyone have a JEREE label listing at all? Actually looks a minefield with different genres etc being recorded at the studios over the decades. Thanks Rich
-
First was a Mod allnighter Lemon Tree Club Scarborough '87?? One of the Tony Class ones. I was only 14! Can't remember the first record but someone was playing Ray Barrettos' Soul Drummers in a near by bar or hotel foyer before we went in!
-
From the LP below: Joe Hinton LP Looks like a retrospective LP issued by them in 73 and thus a 45 also in the same 'remembers series? Pretty sure it wasn't a Back beat release on 45 and was his only LP 'Funny How Time Slips Away'. If so wasn't on that either. Also made a Goldmine CD Beat Ballad Heaven. Might be some more info in the liner notes.

Guessing at the number of copies that have surfaced even in these pan-internet-world days I guess you could say it was bargain OR there's not the amount of people willing to pay / collect at that price any more than there used to be? Peaked prices? Some would no doubt say the Andantes on JM auction would/should have fteched more than it did considering the amount of known copies.
