Manship has the Now Sound 45 as the first press - One that doesn't crop us nearly as much as the Don label.. One of those 45s that sounds much better played out loud. Always had a soft spot for it. I know of the Riccardo Morrero 45 as release 102 - Are there any others?

Just an aside from the Keymen thread (No havent seen this release by RM either) but what do we do about Richard Marks himself? I know he passed away but are their any interviews around with him or was he aware of his 'fame' in soul collecting circles? Also re. Tuska label - Who owned it? And any other info other than releases? Is the Tuska discography complete? Thanks!

Absolutley Imogen You'd be surprised at what sells - Have sold plenty of jazz funk / disco classics in the last couple of years on both Discogs & Ebay. Only last month George Duke / Pieces of A Dream etc etc have gone - albeit for a quid but was surprised at even the UK labels going down well as well as USA issues. I guess it's down to time and how quickly you want to sell. Don't forget there's plenty of house etc music makers looking for samples. Long live all 45 collectors I say!

Packs like those do generally sell on ebay and about the best place for them too really. Just don't expect much for them to be honest. However.. I've seen the odd pack make some decent money. Maybe split them up and try and categorise them a little to maybe tempt more buyers.. jazz funk pack - general disco pack - .. then again you could always do what a lot of sellers do on ebay and call it a northern soul pack....... As Pete says not worth much really.. so maybe a starting price of £50? You can always take a chance and start low or maybe a Buy It Now Price or best offers..

Can't go wrong with the Mastercuts Classic Jazz Funk compilations from the 90s. Think there were 5 volumes? As good a place to start as any. Plus there's the Jazz Funk thread in Refosoul! Don't start saying you feel dirty Dan.. you'll have me itching too! Can't beat a bit of classic jazz funk on a summers day!

One here: Fab tune (both sides!) on a great label.

Afternoon all. Just the one - and a lovely slice of Georgia 70s soul. Was once £100 but still seen at twice or 3 times the price here. Dave Crawford produced magic and at a BARGAIN price. You'll struggle to find a better record for this money. £8 + £1.50 First Class Post. Paypal as gift thanks! PM to reserve or email me HERE!!! PLUS some great soulful 45s Have a listen below.

Thanks guys Clears up the black label design. Anyone know about the 70s re-issues at all then? Or was the catalogue continued on from the label owners?
-
Wonderfully rare Chris - Don't know how many copies there are but I understand Steve G has one too - Seem to remember the seller on ebay had 2 copies? Southern soul holy grail or at least one of 'em!

Cost to Coast hasn't been available for years (think there's a post about this on SS somewhere) but it is a great uk film... Blues Brothers still cuts it for me just to see the cameos of Aretha, Ray, Duck Dunn Steve Cropper etc. Havent seen Black Fist but I enjoyed Cotton Comes To Harlem as I'm a fan of Chester Himes literature. He also wrote A Rage In Harlem later made into a film. The maddest one I've seen is Sun Ra's Space Is The Place... bizarre to say the least... I think a lot are now available on DVD or at least they were. Used to have fun digging at car boots and finding old VHS tapes.. The Spook That Sat By The Door was one I found - terrible film but great soundtrack by Herbie Hancock!

Hi Andy Below is a link to a list of Blaxploitation films from in the main the 70s. Political correctness aside some fabulous music in there and plenty of cameos from soul artists. Having watched a great many some are pretty hard going! LINK HERE

Mark, yes it is a bootie. The 2 Steves' said above! As pointed out only the Grapevine issue is legit and that being a different mix to the US Koko release. The plain white label gives it away really - Have had a few things like that over the years. GREAT record tho
-
Numerous label designs / local / national dist. labels - Have seen the black design with the straight silver text and also white labels of these too. Original issues? Also, there are quite a lot of re-issues (I think from the 70s? Or 80s?) - Does anyone know the story behind these? Cheers!

Just the one crackin and very soulful group cut. Take a listen below. Near Mint Condition. £10 inc P&P UK Only. Paypal as gift thanks! PM to reserve or email me HERE!!

Full refund if not happy. Thanks for looking! 1. Rance Allen - Reasons To Survive (Capitol) EX £25 (Mizell produced magic on one of the most under-rated groups to come out of the 70s. Evergreen popular & incredibly soulful 45.) SOLD 2. Big John Hamilton - Free Me / I Got To Get Myself Somebody (Minaret) EX £8 (Perfect southern double sided soulfulness from again a vastly overlooked artist) 3. The Perfections - Don't Take Your Love From Me (Drumhead) EX £20 (Lovely detroit sweet n very soulful group side - very slight label lift/peel on edge. Nothing major at all) 4. Pete Cooke - I Won't Cry / Little Darlin (Dimension) EX £10 (Tremendous Gene Redd prod. deep side -sounds a tinsy bit like Sam Cooke with severe laryngitis! - backed with nice R&B dancer) 5. Flip is a great ballad almost reflecting his own life. 2 nice over looked sides) 7. Sidney Joe Qualls - Where The Lillies Grow / I'm Being Held Hostage (Dakar) EX £10 (Chicago soulful perfection. Can't recommend this cracking double helping of Windy City 70s soul highly enough.) SOLD 9. Sir Mack Rice - It's Alright / You Can't Lose (Mercury W/D) EX £20 (More chicago magic from Burgess Gardner & Monk Higgins. Cool Rhythm & soul which seems to be popular.) 10. Milt Matthews - Me + You + Love / Oh I Can't Believe Your Gone (H&L) EX £15 (The one of his on H&L you dont see that often. Super soulful hands in the air 70s dancer. Great flip too! Wanted for a friend who doesn't post on here. Love Affair - To Make You Love Me - United Artists Same Sided Demo Know the issue goes for more but he just wants the same side demo. PM with price & condition please. Doesn't have to be a minter - a clean VG will suffice. Thanks in advance.

Gutted. As the man himself once sang 'It's A Sad Sad World' and a cruel one at that. What a joy I've had listening to this man's music. RIP Fella. Rich

Boogietimesrecords.... Yet Another Dodgy Buyer
Harrogatesoul replied to a topic in All About the SOUL
Does anyone know then, in a nutshell (and me not having to wade through a ton of small print) just what you have to do/prove to Paypal about shipping etc and NOT having the monies taken from you despite proof of postage etc. Does it have to be a signed for package to stand any chance? Didn't Darren(?) on here send that very expensive 45 via signed for yet the buyer conned him from the money? Seems to be a right awful minefield or is there a simple explanation? -
Northern Soul Record Fair Attention All Record Dealers
Harrogatesoul replied to Mark Bicknell's topic in All About the SOUL
Was thinking about this very same idea the other day. A great idea and I lament the lack of black music record fairs (remember them!) outside of the capital. North London been one of the only ones I can think of still going? I know it's all t'internet these days but a regular black music fair would still do the business wouldn't it? Great idea Mark. Keep us all posted. -
