hi cookie, i been in your situation for a while...and have virtually stopped selling stuff as i had some frustrating protracted deals that went nowhere ..cant be arsed at the mo... i have no idea of current prices ,and it hurts to say goodbye to the best most cherished part of your collection wether valuable or not ,i try and sell to people who i know may want my records [ a small eccentric circle ,i admit] however not going out or being in the loop is a huge disadvantage, it seems condition is far more important to buyers these days..............it all seemed so simple before i stopped buying as selling funded buys , however once you find a new purpose for selling things you are not gonna replace with like 45s then its feels easier............but not much........... good luck making the choices...........ez

i sold my battered [my ussual favoured format] copy for £75 i think 2/3 years ago..............great double sider would have a queue if it was in good nick..

think this dire event has been mentioned on here before ..........i went on a gloucester and cheltenham coach with some real good soulies ,lots of wheel and torch vets ............the whole thing was shit from start to finish...i seem to remember a concrete floor most of all ??? .......it was the start of me finally walking away from the scene around 76 for 20 odd years.....complete rip off ......ez

i think you should be constantly evolving, revisiting and listening to new tracks and differant parts of the scene some of which i for one used to dismiss but now love. others i now think ......why did i like that ????????????....or buy it!!!.grrrr...........i liked anything some nites lol open the door and look inside you may be suprised....but if you still dont like a track on rehearing ........... you aint lost anything...........ez

Well,its took me a year to find and read this article !!! well worth it............especially for someone like me who left the scene in the early 70s as a relative youngster, only to return in the late 90s..............plenty of insight into the scene and the many people mentioned in the article from all over the country whose dedication and involvement kept things going so i could enjoy myself when i got back into it...i know or have met many of those mentioned in the article and had no real idea of the sustained commitment of many of them to the music and the scene...cheers guys and gals ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the article is almost a roll of honour to the soul scene hats of to chalky ..atb..ez

i was in a gang of lads calling ourselves "the crombies " after our coats around that time and our anthem song was........... "at the top of the stairs theres crombies " ...we sang it for years after at get togethers ,funerals etc...

i spent a lot of years buying popcorn ,it has lots of differing styles associated with it, r&b,soul,beat ballads, lounge and exotic instros, all sorts ..............and buying lots of shite i thought may or could be played around that scene... this is just a middle of the road mid 50s female ,doris day a perfect comparison, ............. with nothing to make it interesting or differant....OFF TO CATCH THE DEADWOOD STAGE............bfn
