As been first introduced to the northern scene in the Potteries in the early 1970’s I’ve never known Keith Minshull not being a part of the local and national scene. Last saw him a few weeks ago at the Outdoor Record Fair in Newcastle Under Lyme. A true Northern Soul icon RIP Keith Minshull

Hello Pecker: Yeah old age catching up with me!! LOL LOL Big 50 next year!!! Remember all the folk from the Youth club going to Wigan, Wiggie, Bogman etc etc then going myself about 1975 ish!!! Had to tell the old man & woman I was going night fishing as that was OK but going an allniter defo out of the question!! Hope to see you Saturday up Tunstall. If not get your sen down the Foxley on a Tuesday night. Cheers Amo

I was 12 & remember my Dad taking me to Wembley to watch Stoke beat Chelsea in the 1972 League Cup Final. Also used to see loads of scooters bombing around the Potteries, always remember seeing dozens of scooters lined up outside the Cinebowl in Broad Street Hanley, which later became the Steam Machine. I can remember all the older lads at Moorside Youth Club in Stoke on about the Torch closing & some place in Wigan called the Casino stopping open all night!!!! See ya all at the Torch Reunion. Cheers Amo

If you come off M6 at Junction 16 Stoke North & Crewe come down the A500 or the "D Road" as us Stokies call it, then get off at the A34 junction & go north on A34 towards Congleton for about 1/2 mile there's an excellent steak house pub on the right hand side, it used to be called the Harecastle but it now the Miller & Carter. If you are getting off at Junction 15 Stoke south just take A34 north thro' Newcastle till you reach the D Road, all as per above. Its easy to get back to Tunstall as well from here, as you just come back to the A500/A34 roundabout & take the slip road straight into Tunstall passing Hose Street on the right hand side as you enter Tunstall town!! Hope that helps. Looking forward to it now!!! See ya all there Amo

I'm the same as Pecker, I've known Dave since I was a teenager getting into soul music & we also share a love of everything Stoke City FC related!! As well as seeing him & Princess Sarah out & about at soul do's most weekends, I sit 2 rows infront of them in the infamious Boothen End at the Britannia Stadium. He is a gent & top bloke but too say he's been like a big kid in a sweet shop at the match this season is a bit of an understatement. Good on ya Dave & see ya soon. Gooooooooooooooooooooooon Stoke Rip Roaring Potters Cheers & KTF Amo

In and around the Stoke, Crewe & Nantwich area, we have our very own up & coming young DJ, by the name of Ben Astles. Ben has played at most of local nights over the last 4 or 5 years, I remember one night around 6 or 7 months ago, in particular Ben getting a real warm reception from the dance floor after he finished his slot from everyone at Lea Hall. I think Ben can actually buy us all a drink legally now!! He's supported by his both his Mum & Dad, Tina & Nigel who are regulars on the scene. All the best Ben for your DJ'ing career. We could do with afew other young 'uns coming through. Cheers Amo

Unfortunately Brav has had to cancel the gig, as tickets sales weren't enough to make it a goer. Cheers Amo

Redcoupe: Going for the full fortnight this year, there's a fair crowd already booked up from Stoke, just look out for all the new Stoke City FC Premier League tops I'll be wearing one of those! The afternoon sessions down by the pool are great, having something to eat, afew beers & listening to some cracking music most of which on the afternoon sessions is "new" to most folk. The only trouble is these sessions are 2pm till 6pm and it is very easy to over endulge which we did a couple of times!!!! Cheers Amo

I went to the first week of Soul In The Sun in Lanzarote last year & thought it was excellent. Everyone to there own but you must have had a bad experience, as I can't remember hearing "Do I Love You" once last November. Music wise there's something for everyone but I would say its more slanted towards the newer northern, crossover & modern sounds rather than the same "worn out oldies" you might get at a normal soul night. The Sands Beach Resort complex is excellent, you couldn't fault it and can get as involved as much as you want or stop on your own. As for "amateur's" running it I think you are way off the mark from my experience last year. I'm going again this November so make your own mind up! Cheers Amo

Me & Keith Beardmore try & pop around to see Nogger when we can to take him Cd's etc. To see his face when you pass him music is unbeleavible, it means such alot to him. I've even got him downloading music off t'internet now!!! He drives my missus daft when he goes to fetch his pills & potions from the pharmacy in the local Tesco!!! Nogger: See you soon old blade!! Cheers Amo

I'd just like to add a post that OB has put on the Radio Stoke Northern website, John O'Brien is a top bloke & as Brav has already said unfortunately, John hasn't been too well over the recent months & he's shown remarkable courage in fighting back against his brain tumour. Cheers Amo OB Firstly I gotta get this off my chest-- The plaque I put up to commemorate the TORCH looks great if I say so myself! BUT I made a mistake with the dates.... it says 1964-1972 but should be 1965-1973, sorry bout that but in my defence, since my op, me heads wrecked and I forget things and get confused easily-- mind you I don't know how I got the date wrong, its tattooed on my arm!!! forgive me. Anyway, it was Mary who got the ball rolling 4 years ago with a campaign to have a plaque put up but it just seemed to fizzle out. So a man with time on his hands decided to just DO IT-- I think that it would be fitting if Stoke-on-Trent city council put up a proper blue heritage plaque but I for one wont hold my breath on that one. They have just cut down a copse of 50 trees and replaced them with an aluminium one 100 yards from where I live! got the message?... SUNDAY at the Wheel, how much better can it get? Pete and John spinning the tunes I cut my teeth on, the people there are so friendly and listening to their stories about how it was in the 60s just makes me sad that I didn't go then, but a good Irish Catholic boy like me got sellotaped to the ceiling every Saturday night by me parents!!to stop me going--so im making up for lost time. There is so much to say but can I just condense it into....its GOOD NEWS WEEK..just got back from seeing oncologist-tumours have shrunk again AND ive lost a stone in 6 weeks, now a slim 17 stones and loosing weight weekly, thrown the slippers away and wearing shoes!lol. Mary, not requested a song for 2 months- please will you play "You don't want me no more" by Major Lance (no subliminal message there)and if you do, ill be with Joe and Sylvia in sunny Devon listening to it before going to Exeter soul club. Once again sorry for screwing up the dates on the plaque...cheers OB xxx

Nogger: Very sorry & sad to hear about your Mum matey, Elaine told me when she came in from work. Keep your pecker up old blade. Amo
-
Hello Nogger: Keep you pecker up old blade & don't let the barstewards doctors grind you down, there's plenty of mileage left in you yet matey. My missus keeps me informed of your wellbeing as & when you visit her in the local Tesco. Have you heard off Bob lately? Cheers Amo
-
Shaun: Thanks for that thought it was just me! It's working now, must be magic!!! Cheers Amo

Is it just me but for the second Sunday night running I can't access Solar Radio via the net? I could get it fine at various times during the week but just tried to tune in to Eddy's show & keep getting the "time out message". I used to listen to Mark Bicknell on their no problems, perhaps its just me? Anybody any ideas? Cheers Amo
