  1. Please pass on my regards to Terry...was always a pleasure presenting Charly's new releases to him...even if some of it was tosh!
  2. When did they close down, Tony? Another one on my old round as a rep...a coffee and natter shop for quite a few of us knights of the road.
  3. Wonder if Mike was aware of this issue of his recording under a different name? Always had a soft spot for this track...glad he knew it was appreciated.
  4. Haven't seen that up for grabs for a while...fabulous track.
  5. Going off on a tangent...back during the mid-90's Phonogram HQ dumped all their MGM and Verve file copies in a couple of Southern stores...the LPs went to Watford and the 7"s to Chiswick. I hit the LP's first and swept up, taking them to the Jazz specialists in the West End a few hours later for a quick turnaround! Sadly, I wasn't first to the 7"s (think Roger Stewart may have been?), but still scooped up a few of the not so obvious Oldies that had been passed by. Happy days!
  6. Yep, I played it at t'Dome and at various clubs all over the world...always to a busy dancefloor I can understand folk not liking the vocal as it isn't exactly a gruff'n'gritty growling performance...but...it is a pure Northern Soul track worthy of scene exposure from probably 74 onwards...this really can't be denied? The chopping guitar, the strong bassline breaks...perfect for the dancer...all wrapped up with some organ work and backing chorus. Maybe, and feel free to discuss this theory, the 'problem' nowadays is that a lot of folk first hear a track through home speakers rather than pounding out of a club PA, when it can take on a different slant? Think back to some discs in your own collections which sounded completely different when you got them home...L.Allen is another that springs to my mind...I was defo disappointed the first time it hit my home stylus! Each to their own
  7. The model sporting the t.shirt on the front cover of vol.II was the girlfriend of the Sales Manager at the time of that album's release.

  21. Hi Rob, May be a case of 4th/5th being confused as two different nights, when the reality is it was advertised and happened on Friday 4th from midnight, thus going through to Saturday morning, the 5th. I also recall going to Adey Pierce's house direct from the station on the morning of the 5th (on returning to Gloucester) to tell him it had been the last one and the future advertised nights were cancelled. I wish I had all my memorabilia with me to scan, as there was defo an advert in Black Echoes with the extra dates and I still have my train ticket from the 4th/5th....a true anorak hahaha!
  22. ...and here's what copies from the the Land of the Rising Recordprice look like:
