  1. Yep, there were a couple of UK importers taking a box (x25) on release, but then that was it...and some were also returned unsold. Some 20 years later they are proving to be difficult to find as the people who bought them still have them! I had plenty of enquiries...an easy sell if you want to offer it up!
  2. That's a huge variation...nowadays is it fair to say discs can have three 'values': 1. Book Guide 2. Auction/Popsike results 3. Allnighter/Forum price ...or is #3 a myth?
  3. Certainly possible to mess around with a recording to eliminate clicks, pops, background noise etc...but how does one restore an acetate?
  4. Tell me about it...two copies from five years of weekly digging all over Tokyo
  5. What's the selling rate for this one at present? Seen it at varying prices, but what would make a copy sell?
  6. Off on a tangent...a few 45's: Johnny Kirk & Lilly Thomas - A Love Like Ours - Cotique M- £10 Thelma Jones - Souvenir of a heartbreak - Barry M- £20 Thelma Jones - Stronger - Barry M- £12 Hector Rivera - Do it to me - Barry vg+ £5 ON HOLD
  7. Whilst I'm here, also have a spare original 7" of Mitty Collier's R'nB dance track, 'I Can't Lose' on Peachtree for £20..it's in RefoSoul if you are curious!
  8. This is a tough one to find...the legendary Japanese Peachtree label LP compilation. Mainly tracks from Mitty Collier, but also features Emory & The Dynamics', 'Things that a lady ain't supposed to do' and 'Lets take a look at our life', and Jimmy Church's, 'Shadow of another mans love' and 'Thinkin' about the good times'. This also happens to be a proper label demo copy and comes complete with lyric/info sheet. Vinyl: been played but not abused...near mint Sleeve: age browning and slight spine tear at the top...no sticker/pen marks. Payment via UK cheque or bank transfer...no Paypal. £75 plus postage is £10 via EMS courier / internet trackable. ON HOLD No offers.
  9. Sleeves are clean with no creases, tears or sticker marks...see scans. Vinyl has been played, but only a few tiny marks...nothing to worry about. Postage is via EMS courier...£10 per parcel. UK cheque or bank transfer only...no Paypal. Chacon: Su Orqesta Y Su Sabor! - Allegre £25 ON HOLD Pete Rodriguez & His Orchestra - Hot & Wild - Allegre £25 Ray Jay & The Eastsiders - Roly Poly - Cotique £40 If the scans upload out of order, just touch on their name details to work out which line up belongs to which sleeve...what fun!
  10. Love his vocal style...true grit, gravel and growling stuff! This is my fave from Mr.C...on glorious red vinyl: RIP
  11. True.
  12. Ron Keith - Gotta Go By What You Tell Me / Party Music - A&M Raaaaare on a Japanese copy complete with pic/info sheet. Labels: clean...no tears or pen/sticker marks Vinyl: clean...no marks/scratches Pic/Info sheet: slight browning from age...no tears/holes or pen/sticker marks Feel free to make comments on what you think it's worth! PM me with offers...not looking to retire from it!
  13. I went to the auction...records were sorted into various box loads, which you could flick through, but had to bid on the box rather than separate items. The one thing I do recall was that there were plenty of US discs which had their labels scratched...not the credits but scratches running in lines from the middle to the edge almost like hands on a clock! Apparently this was done to stop them slipping on old turntables!
  14. Yes...different artist...different tempo/production.
  15. Such a huge undetaking...bound to be glitches along the way, but a massive stepping stone/useful tool for sure. Whether to include the non-Soul output on Soul labels is an easy one for me...include them but state that they are not Soul. I have complete empathy for any project like this, as I am (still!) deeeeeep into my own book concentrating on 60s US Soul released in Japan at the time. Fortunately (or not as the case may be!?), the number of releases is smaller than the US and a lot more compact to research - i.e. there weren't any small labels doing limited runs and all releases came through the same half a dozen or so major labels. Still, it takes a LOT of time going through the company files/catalogues in search of the Soul titles amongst the many, many Pop releases...not to mention it is not in my native language! Then the questions concerning what to include, how much background to write about the manufacturers, the routes to market, the advertising budgets, the sales/pressing splits between formats, the number of people living in Japan at the time who had a radio etc etc etc and etc come into question! The editing and never ending label/sleeve scanning continues!
  16. A bunch of Brenton
  17. Don't you just hate black print on red labels...yet looooooove those tri-centers!?!
  18. On Probe in Japan.
  19. That's pleasant though his vocal is flat in places...certainly wouldn't trouble Marvin Gaye on this performance...think Quality Control got it right with leaving it in the can. Tangent...this is quite a good disc from Robert...nice version too.
  20. How about this little puppy that once upon a time was a Richard Searling Casino spin...on 123 in the US here's the Japanese 7"...on red vinyl as well...mmmm. Though rare, I do have a spare (hey that rhymes!) if anyone is interested?!
  21. Going by the picture alone, if I was a gambling man I'd put it ALL on being an original...the print quality and alignment is quite simply correct and superior to the bootleg. A good winning price for sure...though not an easy seller at the guide prices in my experience. The rarer variants seem to be the West Coast presses, especially with 'Take my hand' on the flip. I have a picture of the Boys somewhere, though can't seem to locate it at present....damn...though after a quick poke on Google I've just spotted an Out Of The Past label bootleg of it which I haven't seen for a while!
  22. サイコティック リアクション
  23. Phew, thanks Paul...had myself worried there for a minute!
  24. ...and the flip is stunning...but you have to get the rarer stock copy as the promos are double sided with KIU.
  25. More info please!
