  1. Many thanks one and all Was listening to the vocal takes the other night and that prompted me to want to dig out the inst...is there a more perfect NS record?!
  2. Anyone fancy moving some vinyl (or styrene!) around?! Feel free to offer up trades against discs on my site >>> PRESS LINK HERE <<< Plenty of quality tunes available at the moment Will consider 60's Oldies/Classics/lesser-known pieces for sure All for the thrill of waiting for Mr.Postie to deliver parcels...gotta love that feeling
  3. Mirwood Orch. - Oh! My Darling Not imagining it am I...thought it was on one of the Kent Mirwood/Jackie Lee CDs, but ain't. Sure there was an old bootleg Mirwood label 7" of it? Looking forward to a clip being added in RefoSoul!
  4. You're not too wrong, Alan...was indeed around and cheap for a while (weren't they al!?!), but it went to ground (as they do into collections). However, that said, it has the quality to shine through, so I for one am not overly shocked or surprised to see a three-figure tag on it. However, it isn't 'Classic Oldie' sounding enough to ever go big, but it does deserve a few spins every now and then for sure...imo.
  5. Pics, info and links all opened in less than 2 seconds over here
  6. There are a few Northern tracks on the label in between the Deep stuff...can recommend these three for starters:
  7. I have seen a copy stating 'PLUG SIDE' on the INYG side, and not 'Promotional Copy' (as per the Popsike scan) with LFYB on the flip.
  8. Fabulous...can't wait for the finished article! Tangent...does anyone know the name of an old 80's TV documentary on Latin music which featured a lot of Machito?
  9. I know, I know it isn't the UK release, but here is the rather nice 1st US label for this wonderful track.
  10. Is that the correct period sleeve for that release number?
  11. Fair points...thankfully I'm a collector not a dealer...just a lucky one that has a steady supply of new vinyl that I can turn around, ever in the hope that I can get something new for my own collection! 'Please Mr.DJ'...yep sounds great still to my ears...proper uptempo Northern R'n'B!
  12. How about these: M 3'S - FUNNY CAFÉ - A.B.C. WD - £15.00 CHARLES HODGES - MY HALF A HEART - ALTO - £50.00 BOBBY ANDRIANI - I'VE GOTTA FIND A WAY - ATCO - £30.00 SOLD DON & JUAN - WHAT I REALLY MEANT TO SAY - BIG TOP - £15.00 SOLD DON COVAY & GOODTIMERS - SEE ABOUT ME - COLUMBIA - £10.00 ON HOLD DEE CLARK - IN MY APARTMENT - CONSTELLATION - £10.00 SOLD KING WILLIAMS - FIGHT FOR YOUR GIRL C/W PATIENCE BABY - M.G.M. - £10.00 ON HOLD INEZ FOXX - I SEE YOU MY LOVE - SYMBOL WD - £25.00 SOLD PM me for more details...label scans on AnoraksCorner.com
  13. Northern, Funky Northern or Funk? Donnie Jacobs - Proud Man - Maison de Soul
  14. Thanks chaps...appreciate it I also came across the other King Soloman on MaderD, but was underwhelmed on listening, so passed on it Must admit I've known the Tony Sams for years and this is my first time to find one...excellent tune
  15. Is anyone familiar with a (possibly) unreleased track by the Soul Brothers (Six) called, 'Looking For My Baby'?
  16. Probably demos, as I've also had a black label with silver print copy...here's the evidence, your Honour!
  17. I see the occasional De-Lite white (and black) US demo over here...and if I'm lucky I may also see another one of these one day
  18. No idea which is the rarer...but...something in the back of my mind is telling me that I once saw a cover version on a New Zealand label?
  19. Out of interest Richard, have you got any records in your collection which are not on Detroit labels?!
  20. Yesterday I played 'Our love will grow' at a collectors night much to the delight of my fellow anoraks over here. I imagine there were a lot of General's discs on the decks this weekend, and many, many feet hitting the dancefloor to them all over the world...what an amazing thought!? A strong candidate for 'Artist of the Week' on here
  21. Here's yet another West Coast promo rescued from the racks today...Tony Alvon & The Belaires ' Don't Be No Drag'.
  22. Had another successful day of digging...more R'n'B than full-on Northern, but hey ho! Not sure what I'm doing with some of them...what's the going rate for these x4 at present: Tony Sams - Tishman LaCharles McCoy - AMC King Soloman - MaderD Jounior (sic) Wells - Bright Star Thanks in advance.
  23. How many 45's came with their individual factory logo/title sleeve? JMMatthews, LRoseLlittle, OtisL for sure, any others?
  24. Looked through them...kind of...when they were first brought out...twas a Yate nighter...no one was allowed to look through the trolley load wheeled in...you had to ask for the paper list and then buy from that...they would then go through the stock and pull them out in front of you! There were a handful of follow-up lists over the coming months which included some incredible stuff, mostly dirt cheap, even for those days. I bought a few.
