  1. A Casino anthem bootlegged as the 'Golden World Strings - Supertime'...remember it...happy days...one to put a smile on your face and get the Soul Police beating down the door! It is actually an LP only track by a band called The Total Eclipse on US Liberty...quite an obscure one and when was the last time you heard it!?! Here is the soundfile: >>> PRESS HERE <<< I have a nice clean copy for sale...sleeve has slight ring wear (nothing too serious) and a small sticker on the front, otherwise no splt seams or deletion cut/hole. Vinyl has seen some plays and has a few non-audible light marks...nothing to worry about and plays through no problems. £30 inc courier service P&P £UK cheque or bank transfer...no Paypal.
  2. Putting aside his many, many fabulous uptempo tunes, let us also reflect on his awesome Beat Ballads...this is my fave...tremendous! (Bet there are some interesting non-US/UK releases in collections as well..c'mon let's be 'avin' some scans!)
  3. The 'Detroit Rhythm Section - I know Something' (as Andy christened it) is indeed an unissued instrumental taken from master tapes...I had access to them via a diffferent source to Andy, and we both ended up with it. Andy played it at the Notre Dame Scenesville and I played it at the Capitol Soul Club at the Dome...bit of a London anthem, dare I say? Oddly enough I played it at the VaVaVoom NYE doo a few weeks ago, which put a few smiles on faces and feet on the dance floor...probably 6 years since it had been played in the Smoke!? I still have the original Jobete acetate of Sidney Barnes 'Safety Zone'...stunning track. Incidentaly, I first heard it at the Scala Club in London via Dean Anderson...told him there and then to let me know if he ever wanted to move it on...which he eventually did...much to my surprise/delight!
  4. And let us not forget that at least two numbers were pressed twice offering up different takes/mixes!
  5. The great man gained no fewer than seventeen 7" releases from the Brunswick/Coral stables in Japan...deservedly so. This is one of my fave sleeves for the thumping great 'Soul Galore':

  9. I assume they were the same outfit, who also had a decent enough dancer released on Landa as well? Always liked/rated 'Do You'...agree that it doesn't turn up as often as others on the label...don't think it has any Detroit connections..Dani?
  10. I see more red than burgundy label variants over here...must have been many boxes of them imported at one stage! However, only ever had x2 of the WD...top tuneage:
  11. No, not the same as Lionel...this was a hit song spouting lots of cover versions. This version does not feature Deon singing...it is a lush string-laden take...no idea why they put his name to it, but thankfully they did thus causing an odd rarity for us to track down years later!
  12. Yes, if you are referring to the 'Hello Stranger 66', and fairly, yes
  13. I have 'Karate Boogaloo' on the Stateside label...Japanese Stateside!
  14. That copy above sold....however...I have my own file copy that I may sell for the right offer? It is in near mint condition and won't be $230!! PM me your best offer.
  15. Yes, scratched in by hand using a metal pointer. Also, you may enjoy reading up about deadwax markings >>> Pressing Plant Info <<<
  16. Got the US Clyde McPhatter LP featuring 'Please give me one more chance', as I can't spot it in your montage pics, Mark!? £35...of use?
  17. Ooh! Nice! For reference, Tyrone Ashley's - 'I Want My Baby Back' is also on both vinyl and styrene stockers/WDs
  18. Here's one that doesn't pop up too often
  19. I have a couple of copies available (strong E+) of the original US Verve LP featuring the glorious 'It's Up To You'. £20 a piece inc P&P.
  20. I was freaking out over two parcels containing heavy discs (re-worth a lorra lorra pounds!) being sent to my UK address over the Xmas period. This was compounded by the Bank Holidays, which led to a small window for the discs to arrive whilst I was still in the UK. Fortunately, all went to plan and they arrived within 1 or 2 days of sending, as did my parcels back to the senders (thank you gents, you know who you are!)...well worth the drive back across the country to pick 'em up before flying out! Certainly pleased that the discs I sent out from Japan to the UK last week, have also all reached their destinations safe'n'sound. Maybe things are now starting to calm down...I hope so for all.
