  1. Thanks (thus far) chaps. £280 for Sam Cox is a decent price...fabulous Nortthern!
  2. You certain about the recording/release dates, Mark?
  3. £350 in the guides...I'm surprised...£100 or below is far more realistic imo. This has never been too difficult to find, especially in the wake of the 100's that were around throughout the 8Ts. Yes, the WD is a lot tougher, mind! Too fast for the dancefloor, so where is the demand coming from to push it up to soooo much (was a £8 disc for years, but then again weren't they all?!)
  4. Living in the parallel universe known as Japan, as I do, the chat sites here ask the question as to whether a night of all uptempo stompers would work...and what about a dancefloor...would it be used if there was one!? (Only kidding...although our main collectors night doesn't have a dancefloor!)
  5. Doh! I missed the final prices on a few recently...anyone confirm what these two went for in the end, please: Sam Cox - Renfro and Johnny Guitar Watson - Magnum Much appreciated in advance.
  6. Update: Sent some in Tokyo Monday evening...arrived UK Wednesday AM first thing. kjw - if you're having problems with communications or want to check out a Japanese seller, give me a shout...I'll help if I can.
  7. Catchy, danceable in a side-to-side Northern fashion...what more do you want from a Northern track?! I also recall it being featured on a Manship Blue-eyed Soul tape many, many moons ago
  8. Nice one, thanks for posting Yep, that's a West Coast Monarch pressed copy...not seen one before (cue for everyone else to say they have a copy as well!). Oddly enough this track also gained a release in Japan back in the day...rare. Great track!
  9. Nice...don't think I've ever had a West Coast copy...any chance of a scan?
  10. Interesting one, Phil. Apart from the count-in is the take the same as the UA 45?
  11. Had some spins during the early to mid 8Ts for sure...I remember buying a copy on the back of it being a "Tape Swappers Fave". I would have thought heading towards three-figures now, rather than £30, on rarity alone?

Great picture! Two very, very gentle-men of the Scene.
  13. I swapped emails back in 2003 with Dimitri Villard, one of the co-owners of Jet Set. This is taken from one of his replies: "I was the person who raised the money for Eddie to start Shrine, and in return he helped us with some of our recording sessions, arrangements, etc. We were very good friends. We even recorded a few of his artists such as Jimmy Armstrong and Barbara Long for our label. We started out on our own, then got picked up by Bell Records (Amy-Mala-Bell) for distribution. Jet Set was owned by me, Caspar Davis and Blair Butterworth. Eventually the label folded." He also told me that as far as he was aware the masters had been lost...unless someone can tell us differently?! Here is one from their stable...Bill St.John...not overly Northern, more of a Popcorn tune...catchy lyric I can assure you!
  14. One of my fave Motown acts when it comes to quality and quantity across several styles Here are their two Japanese pressed LPs...fairly tough to track down
  15. A charismatic tune that some will love for what it is, whilst others will scoff and pour scorn on it's poppy edge! Northern Soul...you gotta love it! Here's the Jerden release as featured within my sales pages >>> PRESS HERE <<<
  16. I've been sending parcels out regularly for the last couple of weeks always using EMS courier system. Am pleased to report that all are getting through with no unusual delays...sent some last Sunday and they were on UK doorsteps early Wednesday morning UK time.
  17. Big fan of his work...he also had no fewer than six 45's and one album released over here in Japan back in the day. Please say hi from Japan!
  18. I recall Danny Huff finding x300+ copies in New Orleans many moons ago...two different presses with slight label variations too. Tremendous track!
  19. Would I ever lie to you!?
  20. Nowp. I've had proper finished label demos...East and West Coast...same for Chuck on #149 as well.
  21. As an aside, every copy I've ever seen over here has an odd deletion hole in the sleeve...nothing unusual about that per se, but, the hole has a little metail circle in it as if punched in...very neat...no idea why they felt the need to re-inforce the hole!
  22. Have seen both red and black vinyl pressings of this one.
  23. Good job you didn't, Mark, may have cleared the floor as no one seems to want it!
  24. Yes, we all love it...go on admit it Here it is...the ultimate way to own it (maybe!?!)...the original Japanese Roulette issue of this legendary thumping instruMENTAL by The Chosen Few, complete with picture inner and factory sleeves...rare! For those of you looking to increase your pain thresh hold ability, then yes the vocal version is indeed on the flipside for you to, ahem, enjoy! £30 £UK cheque or bank transfer only...no Paypal. Courier service P&P is £5
