  8. Here's another lesser known one (from my sales shelves!) which is a cracking feel-good Northern dance track...kinda reminds me of Arthur Alexander's 'Keep her guessing' for some reason!!!
  9. Think that period Mercury sleeve doesn't match the release number...was it not introduced later? -ps I love the disc...both sides!
  10. Me too...it is hard not to like anything with typed credits on it! I have others...some on red vinyl too
  11. Came out with two different info sleeves over here..the cartoon one was for the second at-the-time press. Note the credit layout is slightly different on the labels!
  12. Here's a fine pair The O.V.Wright shares a similar backing track to Buddy Lamp's 'Save Your Love' and Lee Rogers' 'Sock Some Love Power At Me' etc...rough, raw and mighty Northern Soulful! The Tennyson Stephens is an obscure one and certainly a lesser known number...one for fans of the Northern/R'n'B/Popcorn/Latin sound!
  13. 'Make Me Yours' is rumoured to exist on a Japanese press, though it doesn't feature in any label catalogues...maybe it slipped out between the yearly publications...time will tell!? However, her, 'I'm lonely for you' / 'Closed for the season' did reach finished copies...here are the test press and stock copy scans, along with art picture cover, all living comfortably on my shelves:

  16. Much admired over here. Agree with Tony...this is also my fave NS track from this Soul Hero. RIP
  17. That's Takuya from Osaka, Japan. Demon dancer, DJ and hat wearer!
  18. Without a shadow of a doubt, this is my fave track from Mighty Sam....'Georgia Pines'. Solid plodding Northern with trademark brass-stabs, sensitive organ and piano work and a vocal taller than the trees he sings about! The stock copy is a spare...essential tuneage...vivid memories of it echoing around the 100 Club during the late 8Ts/early 9Ts.
  19. At what point did their 'Stirrin' Up Some Soul' first see action? Always reminds me of the Yate nighters.
  20. Who was first onto Johnny Vanelli's romper-stomper, 'Seven days of loving you' on Pre-Vue...and when? Proper Norvern!
  21. Ray Agee Date of Birth: April 10, 1930 Place of Birth: Dixons Mills, Alabama Date of Death: 199? Ray Agee made a number of mostly overlooked records in the 1950s and 1960s. Agee suffered from polio as a child and was left permanently disabled by the disease. After moving with his family from Alabama to Los Angeles in the 1930s, Agee and his brothers formed a gospel group called the Agee Brothers. Despite his gospel roots, Agee eventually turned toward blues and rhythm & blues and began recording in 1952. Throughout his career Agee recorded prolifically, though much of his recording catalogue, with the exception of his work with the Modern and Aladdin labels, is found on little-known labels such as Mar-Jan, Check, Solid Soul, Celeste, Brandin', Soul Town and Krafton. Some of Agee's later records include guitar work by Bay Area artist Johnny Heartsman. Ray Agee slowly slipped away from the music business in the early '70s. Reportedly, he died around 1990. ~ Bill Dahl, Rovi Real Real Love - Krafton Screaming and thunderous R'n'B...a belter! I Feel So good - Brandin' Moody and grinding R'n'B...dirty low-down Soul! Both discs are near mint labels/vinyl...all sides! £25 each or £40 the pair ON HOLD Courier service P&P is £5 per parcel. Payment by £UK cheque or bank transfer...no Paypal. Both tracks are in Refosoul Enjoy!
  22. A few Kings from the sales shelves...the Leon Austin and Mike Williams are super solid dancers if you aren't familiar:
  23. Tangent...found one of these today...prime tumbling uptempo Detroit! Drop me a PM if you're interested!
  24. I've had copies of this on and off over the years as well...fortunately never paid a lot for it...great sinister Soul sound! Their other more expensive (Funk) releases on the label are seen more than this one over here. The delta number puts the release to around April/May '68. Cool looking label!
