  1. I think over the last 10 years we've really started to scratch the surface of what came out and where, Kel...who would have thought there were so many Argentinian, Mexican, Lebanese and Japanese (!) etc releases!?! The internet has indeed been a wonderful tool for collectors of the wierd and wonderful...not to mention international travelling and ex-pats digging deep! Enjoying this thread...here's a pic of another JP rarity...and a qualifier for best spelling!!?!!
  2. Possibly...you can include Japan in the list of countries it came out in!
  3. I got a mint WD on my sales shelves...hang on I'll go and play it, back in a bit...I'm back and it plays through no problem at all! On this West Coast WD copy I do note that the playing surface is quite wide leaving but a narrow run-out area, so maybe the arm is moving further over than with other discs...leading to the the problems noted within earlier posts. Great cross-over tune by the way!
  4. Good artist...here's another that rocks along nicely:
  5. What is the true going rate for this one as the price seems to vary quite a bit? Must admit it is popular Japan...couple that with the strength of the Yen and you don't see much change out of £200 for it when it pops up for sale over here.
  6. Agree, quite rare. wouldn't sell mine! I actually prefer this to Jerry Williams...shoot me down!
  7. I got that 45 as well...never seen the album, so can't answer your question...but Maureen McGovern's, 'Wherever Love takes Me' also made it onto a 45 in Japan, not that it is of too much interest for this site! What is interesting is that you can watch the entire movie on YouTube...all 1:57 of it: >>> PRESS HERE <<<
  8. Hi Andy, I've finally got around to checking the Turbo copy and yes, the left channel briefly drops out within 'Sweet Memories'. Also, please note: The Turbo copy is self-titled and not called, 'Having you Around'. The label just states The New Sound...see picture below. The track running order on the labels (as there is no order on the sleeve) is different to what is in the grooves...'Sweet Memories' actually plays as track #2 not #5, and the rest just bounce down by one, if you see what I mean? As for the sound quality...top heavy on the bass yes, but, not as bad as some make it out to be...sounds fine if you simply adjust the bass down!
  9. A few days ago I found these four during a spot of mid-week digging...which was nice!
  10. Here you go: David Coleman & Hector Rivera Orch. - Drown My Heart / My Foolish Heart - Barry WD M- £120 Super clean copy...one the best examples of the Latin Soul genre...imo Monguito Santamaria - Hey Sister - Fania E+ £35 ON HOLD Hard-driving Boogaloo moster...has a few hairline marks but plays fine Johnny Zamot & His Latinos - Fat Mama - Decca D E+ £45 My fave from this combo...thumping Boogaloo! O'Jays - Whip It On Me Baby - Imperial WD VG+ £15 Fabulous dance track...NSoul with a Latin flavour! The Mosquitos - The Fly - Spear M- £40 This is actually Manny Corchada - Pow Wow...long and short versions (vintage US bootleg) ...and a Latin-tinged NSoul classic on a rare demo copy: Soulful Strings - Burning Spear Cadet D VG++ £25 Classic instrumental that just may well be right for todays scene(s)?! ...and a couple of albums: Ray Jay & Eastsiders - Roly Poly - Cotique M-/M- £20 ON HOLD incs. 'Love Doll' and other dancers. Pete Rodriguez & Orch. - Hot & Wild - Allegre - M-/M- £20 Original first press All discs are in great condition...nothing beaten up. Courier service International P&P +£5 per parcel. Payment via £UK cheque or bank transfer (IBAN available)...no Paypal or offers.
  11. Twiggy - Beautiful Dreams Not an Oldie, but I'm sure some must've shuffled around their front room/bedroom/kitchen (delete where appropriate) to it?!
  12. I think you'll find there are a couple of different mixes on the tapes of that classic thumper...the one on the Charly albums mentioned throughout this thread features beefed up brass etc. Can't recall the instrumental being there, but maybe your tapes were different to the ones Cliff White had access to once upon a time at Quin Ivy's place? I still see the Charly albums over here from time to time (they were cleared out over to these shores loooong ago)...timeless stuff.
  13. I've had a near mint copy on my site for a few months...now at £50 but still there.
  14. I assume the booklet features pictures of the EP sleeves for her Japanese releases of Fame material!?
  15. Love the flip...quality hard-hitting Northern...'I Can't Take It No More'. This also gained a release in France on a 7"!
  16. Some fabulous scans, gents...thanks for sharing Here's another oddball Japanese release...gotta love the red vinyl
  17. Hi Lorraine, Greetings from Tokyo...where you are also much loved and respected Yes, I was another one cheering you on when you appeared at the Stafford Allnighter back in the 8T's...can still recall that you made it look so easy singing out loud and proud...treasured memories! Enjoy Soul-Source...and be prepared for the many questions I'm sure we'll fire at you! Kind regards, Flynny
  18. I put up a soundfile of the Huggy's Ork recording in Refosoul...could well be the Mirettes...great NS dance track with sax break and funky bassline, by the way! >>> PRESS HERE <<<
  19. A Japanese copy You may be pleased to know that my book on 60's US Soul released in Japan during the 60s is coming along quite nicely. I've pieced together the Motown output (45/EP/LP) and gone through all the trade catalogues for all other labels...1000+ releases in all! It is all boiling down to the cosmetic appearance...whether to scan all the labels as well as the pic sleeves and how to lay it all out...a time consuming thing and I keep changing my mind! edit: just checked the release date for the above 45...July 63 in the US and Dec 63 in Japan...wonder why 'Nov 63' is written on the label? (There are no finished label promos)...and who is Charles Lee I wonder?!
  20. We'll get there in the end! When I mail from Japan to the UK, parcels seem to go into the hands of Parcel Force on arrival in the UK, and they allocate a new parcel code which is still trackable on the Japanese website. The other thing I do know is that the delivery time from doorstep to doorstep can take as little as 3 days...not bad for travelling most of the way around the world! I hope Dukes has sussed it all out by now!?!
  21. Classic group...so many top tunes...this one reminds me of Dave Evison at the Casino:
  22. Some fabulous stuff from both incarnations of the label. Here's a few to kick in with from the Liberty series...and I note that the Huggys Ork disc is down in many discographies as by The Mirettes...does that exist as well?
  23. Apologies for incorrect terminology, people! However, internet tracking is indeed possible once it arrives in Japan, as the Post Office over here then takes over the parcel and allocates it a new code...a bit like Parcelforce take over when parcels reach the UK.
  24. I'm more used to sending from Japan, rather than to here...but if mailing from the UK may I recommend you send it 'International Recorded', which is internet trackable (when it hits this side) and requires a signature on arrival...about £7.50 for maling a well-packed 7", at a guess?
