  2. You are correct...the bootlegs had yellow lookalike labels and were on thin vinyl. Has anyone got the Soul Symbol lists that were pumped out in the early 8Ts...they were SImon Soussans actual collection of originals...absolutely packed with quality stuff and all at crazy cheap prices even for that time! Sweet, sweet memories!
  3. I know this corker also came out on Cameo, but here are the two label variants for the Double R label...and what a great tune it is...smack up my street with its sinister organ work and sharp, sharp brass...the old 'Otis Pollard' c/up:
  4. PM me if anyone is looking for a mint copy of the P-Vine LP (#6529) featuring Willie & The Mighty Magnificents on side A, and Willie & West on side B.
  5. I love this tune I recall her performing it during a PA at Tower Records in Kingston mny years ago...she arrived late, but had such a great voice! What also struck me was hoe petite she was/is!
  6. For those seeking a talking piece, I've just landed a spare of this rarity! Can't be many in the UK...if any at all!?
  7. Some more Japanese copies...all spare copies if anyone is interested...PM me
  8. Let's kick in with the gruff and lo-down solid slab of Northern:
  9. I believe we all acknowledge the JM Price guides as a fabulous reference point, well put together and the major influence on pricing. However, 2011 values have taken a tumble across the board (bar the top end true rarities) since the publication of the 5th guide. Therefore, in order to be a credible up to date guide, I firmly believe that the 6th edition prices need downward adjustment...probably as many as 75% of the titles? With regards to the 20% UK purchase tax...surely this phrase is only used by the full-time dealers when making their transactions...have you ever heard anyone else mentioning it at a event, "Yea, this is worth £300 in the JM guide, so take 20% off for the tax, so it's worth £240 - oh and it has a pen mark on the label so that's at least another 10% off, so it's actually worth, in accordance to the guide, about £210...call it £200, mate"? Possibly more importantly, this additional 20% isn't mentioned in the 5th guide at all! Would it not be more accurate to state the valuations not including the 20% extra, especially as these rates do not apply to every country...and Northern Soul collecting is a worldwide phenominum? An intro page in LARGE PRINT clearly stating that prices are made up from the database, reflect 100% mint condition and any taxes included, would be very useful when trying to explain to fellow collectors/delers that they shouldn't expect £300 for a vg disc with writing all over the label, just because it says £300 in the guide! Food for thought?
  10. There are several presses for this superb track on both vinyl and styrene. Some copies state the '1972 ABC Records Inc.' above the logo, whilst others are below...or in this case around the bottom of the label. Then there are the 'You Love' copies, as pointed out by dave, which is possibly the hardest variant? A mighty tune whatever the label variant...shame the WDs don't feature this side.
  11. I don't think £40 is over the top seeing as it's the first label for this classic...although I have a mint- Showtime WD on my site for £25...and a mint- Heritage demo for £20.

  13. On reflection (and after looking at other similarly pressed discs!), my money is now on Audio Matrix, NYC. With regards to the Delta numbers...possibly three months apart...maybe they submitted a new master, maybe the first got broken, maybe we'll never know...but I doubt it is a case of bootlegger with a scalpel?
  14. Looks like an East Coast (or Mid-West?) press to me...the layout, font and the way the D.J. COPY NOT FOR SALE is set out is reminiscent of many East Coast labels, no?
  15. I think that is reasonable, personally. The stock copy is tougher in my experience.
  16. This one always sells quickly for me...quality cross-over!
  17. It's a terrific album packed with dancers...'Lonely Man', 'Backwards Upside Down', 'Romeo & Juliet', 'Respectable', 'Cool Jerk' etc.
  18. Never been particularly easy to pick up, although I had a clutch of them during the mid-8Ts. Last copy I sold was at the tailend of 2008 for £25. The flips pretty cool as well - 'A Lovers Plea'.
  19. What did the Yvonne Baker Parkway WD go for the other day on Mannies auction, please? IGNORE - just spotted Joe post with the recent results on. MODS feel free to delete this message.
  20. Daimon, I have a copy of the Outsiders LP if you want it? PM or email me. Flynny
