Chet McDowell - I Guess You Don't Know (The Golden Rule) - Dart I see this disc is featured within the current Anglo-American auctions with a reserve of £250 on it https://www.raresoulvinyl.co.uk/auctions/#397 Great track...a real r'n'B rumbler with strong brass and vocals...is it getting UK scene spins? 15. Just been enjoying these two discs...must admit I used to prefer the atmospheric, 'Broken Heart Attack' (Searling's old "Chester Pipkin" c/up), but nowadays its the romping 'Got To Have More Love' that edges it for me...well worthy of more attention whilst cheap! Great productions on both tracks. Bobby Howard has a great voice and is still around today...was in the band the British Walkers...and was also the guy behind Mr.Dynamite ' Sh'Mon' on Sue...some good info here: https://jp.myspace.com/thebritishwalkers
  16. I note that Manship is auctioning a Bobby Valentin Fania LP on a Venezuelan press...I have always been under the impression that these were latter day re-presses...is that not the case? Many titles from the mighty caralogues of Fania, Tico, Cotique and Allegre were all readily available and being imported into the UK during the early 90's...London was awash with them...I used to swap them up at Tower Records in Piccadilly as they were so cheap. The covers are very thin card and are copies of the original US releases with an additional label logo and/or the US catalogue number details often blocked out. There was also an import sticker on the back of them, which was hard to remove. Label-wise, they were more often than not on the later designs -i.e. the Bobby Valentin albums (as all three of the 60's titles were available) was originally on the gold Fania label with original name font, rather than the multicoloured one. Yes, I believe these are legal reissues, but were they also available in large numbers in the US, France etc (plenty of them over here in Japan), and does anyone know exactly when they were pressed up...late 80's...early 90's?
  17. Flip is the stomping 'Go-Go Wedding'!
  18. Chuck Ray - I Don't Mind / Come Alive - Tam-Boo Soooo indemand...soooo good...in most Cross-over Top 10's! Haven't seen this for sale on here for a while...last one went for £400. OFFERS invited...NOW SOLD! Condition: Vinyl is 9 out of 10 both sides Labels are near mint both sides Plays perfectly...looks beautiful! PM me your best shot...don't ask for a price as I won't reply! May consider a one-for-one against a quality 60s Northern disc. First fair offer/tasty trade gets it, but must pay within 24 hours. PayPal as gift or UK bank transfer. More tasty bits for sale over at www.AnoraksCorner.com Label-porn here:
  19. Here's a really nice piece for a Motown collector, the rare EP of live recordings from Martha & The Vandellas and Stevie Wonder. These were recorded during February 1968 live in Tokyo and are only available on this 7" EP and the LP equivilent...no other original release anywhere else. This EP rarely turns up over here and you won't see it for sale too often at all...I've only been offered it twice and this is my spare copy. The gatefold sleeve features song lyrics and is in excellent condition...no writing, tears or sticker marks, and the vinyl and labels are not far off mint. £75 including P&P. Whilst I'm here and on the Detroit tip, I've also got a spare of the Reflections classic, 'Just Like Romeo & Juliet' on Japanese Stateside, as pictured. Again, this is not an easy one to find and probably sold next to nothing at the time of release over here. This one is also on RED VINYL (see post #9)...looks great! Sleeve, disc and label are in excellent shape. £40 inclding P&P. Or £100 the pair including P&P. PayPal as gift or UK bank transfer are both OK. Edit: see post #8 for another rare Japanese release of a Detroit classic from Spyder Turner!
  20. What's the going rate for this double-sided Funk-bomb (!) nowadays, as it doesn't appear to be a regular visitor to popsike et al. Am liking the Chico and Buddy side!
  21. A good read about this prolific song writing trio: https://rarerockinrecords.blogspot.jp/2010/02/giant-baum-kaye-poof-up-in-smoke.html
