  1. Yes, White Cliffs...the group name is The Rocks. Rare. Mighty interesting label, White Cliffs.
  2. Kinda like this at a guess, although I'd love to see a scan of this variant of TOP too. (This Maurice Williams track is quite good, if y'all don't know it..also on Deesu as by the Zodiacs.)
  3. Has anyone got this track by him on a WD?
  4. One for the Dusty fans...
  5. Nothing decent going on March 8th, but I'm out and about later today, so will keep an eye out for fliers. However, there is a collector's night tonight...may be taking me ole mukka Guy Hennigan along, as he is in town at the moment. Then, if he is feeling up for it, there is a Northern/Funk/Hip Hop nighter featuring the live band, 'Stormer!', who play a 99% Northern set...great brass and organ work and a lead singer who tries ever so hard to get his pronunciation right.
  6. Sent some parcels from Tokyo on the afternoon of Saturday 9th, and some actually got delivered to UK doorsteps (outside of London too!) on Monday 11th! No smoke or mirrors or Star Trek style transporters, just a good quality (and reliable) courier service.
  7. Yes, I have a spare WD (West Coast) of the Spindles...£50 including P&P all the way from snowy Tokyo. >>> Sales Pages inc. Spindles <<<
  8. I like this one...it also came out on a 12" on Bareback too.
  9. I have a US copy of this sooper-dooper cross-over gem available at £75 (inc P&P), should anyone need their boat floated?
  10. Not desperately good quality, but let's get the ball rolling...
  11. Is the 12" WD on Philly Groove worth anything...can I contact my bank manager now and announce that I will be retiring earlier than planned?
  12. Rod, What gets my goat is that the seller spells Motown as 'mowtown'...OK, OK I can accept the lower-case 'm', but the additional 'w'...grrr! Whilst I'm at it, a rogue 'r' often sneaks into the word, 'ballad'...it is not 'ballard'. And relax.
  13. Got mine in '86 too...paid £80 for mine...but it was trades in, mind! Still got it filed neatly under 'M' too. Agree with others as it is THE definitive use of the backing track.
  14. PM me what you realistically want to pay and I'll take it from there. Tokyo is great for finding rare albums...but...the well established rarities are seldom cheap. I have a selection of the popular Northern ones for sale on my site, including the Metros, Baby Washington, Spellbinders, Shades of Blue etc >>> HERE <<<
  15. Hi Russ, Thanks, I've never been referred to as an evergreen classic before! Yes, apart from the original US RCA 45 (RARE on a stocker), there is indeed a unreleased RCA LP in circulation which features an alternative version, which has a fantastic additional trumpet break and additional chorus. It is not an acetate, it is vinyl, it has no picture cover and it came with the engineer's original notes too. As already stated it was turned up by Benji in Germany from a sound engineer in Cologne. Yes, Greg used to play it at the Capitol Soul Club, and it used to surprise a few tired legs on the dancefloor as the the realisation of it being a longer version hit home! d.
  16. Off on a tangent..not really my era of collecting, but I have a 12" WD on Philly Groove (dist. by SalSoul)...were there actual SalSoul label copies too? (5:07 on this 12")
  17. From one ex-Gloucester boy to another, cheers! Naturally if anyone can supply a snippet / live recording of BarlowD, it would be very much appreciated to confirm it is indeed the one I seek.
  18. A fabulous record for sure...and I sold a WD but a few days ago on here too!
  19. Carl Underwood got plenty of spins in the mid to late 80's too. It wasn't an easy disc to find back then either, but it was still less than a ton...sigh.
  20. I sold one six months ago for £30. Rarer than the WD imo, but possibly not as desirable?
  21. Not surprised to read that...good slice of Soul that it is. I find loadsa SS7 45's over here (including her LP regularly), but only x1 copy of YGTUWYG in almost 4 years. I actually included YGMM and IHW on compilations back in the late 80's early 90's...great set a pipes has our Ann.
  22. Not wanting to hijack the thread, but I'm also after info on a track that the Ginger one once played at the 100 Club many moons ago. He played it from a 10" acetate (didn't look vintage) and when questioned he said he had the original (vinyl/acetate, I don't know) at home, but it was cracked. It was a Carolina sounding thing with nice organ work on the intro, reminiscent of Anthony & The Aqualads kinda thing. Never heard it since. Any info/guesses appreciated, but please note it is not anything obvious.
  23. Off on a tangent, if anyone collects her stuff, I have an interesting WD of her rare-groove pumper, 'You're gonna miss me' on SS7 (white and black one side, white and blue on the other!); and a beautiful black stock copy of her sublime, 'I'm his wife (You're just a friend)' backed with the dancer, 'You got to use what you got', which is worthy of scene spins...has anyone ever spun it out?
  24. Yes, a rather tidy WD it is too >>> HERE <<< A snip at a mere £25 + P&P.
  25. I had a finished label copy. This was purchased from Ady Pountain and was the copy he played at Yate...it's first scene exposure. It remained a one-off for quite a few years until Tim Ashibende turned up a couple of plain white label vinyl test presses (advertised in the small print in Black Echoes, as I recall). Being the ahem...'completist' that I 'sometimes' am, I bought one of those too! I later sold the finished label copy to Keb, who aired it a few times post-Stafford. I later still sold my test press, but then got it back from AlanH. On reflection I wish I had kept my finished label copy as a few more copies of the plain white labels have turned up over the years, whereas the finished label copies haven't. Carl Fortnum has (had?) a finished label copy whilst DJing at the Dome too...we all gave it a spin there, and hell it is worthy of scene spins galore...imo.
