  1. Via Charly (as in the record label/distributor) for sure, as I played through the SS7 master tapes...took pics of some of the boxes they were in too...nice! It was then put on an acetate for Guy before sticking it then got included on a few Charly album releases. (A few years later we also pressed him up some acetates of various Johnny Powers supplied tracks outta Detroit.)
  2. There is a superb danceable version on Jester, inna typical smooth Texas Soul style with it's brass and organ work. Thoroughly recommended...huge tune imo.
  3. What a coincidence...it was also played at the collector's night in Tokyo last night too! I always remembered the label being light-blue, but it was red...at least I recalled the font-style correctly!
  4. I agree...in vogue Funky/Northern sound...and not the easiest number on the label to find in decent condition, in my experience.
  5. Would love to see a scan...anyone help...pageing Mr.Carp!
  6. Totally agree with you Paul. Superb harmonies....amazing instruMENTAL break...in fact sooooo good that I only recently (after many years of owning/listening to it!) actually statred to listen/appreciate the lyrics! Oh! If only there were demo copies...sigh.
  7. Spanish sleeve/label for reference...found a copy in Tokyo!
  8. Tokyo calling... ARP - stamped Mastered by Frankford & Wayne - stamped 2031A - scratched flip... ARP - stamped 2031B - scratched F/W - scratched Do I win a prize?
  9. Is there any other design for this release number? Has anyone got a stock/coloured copy?
  10. Shades of Blue and Metros..amongst others...on my site within the sales pages: >>> Direct Link - Click Here <<<
  11. I thought the Eric & Vikings was originally spun on a RCA labelled 10'' acetate? The 'Barbara Mercer' sounds as you suggest, a modern cut using a vintage label?
  12. Good call...great track, and ironic that it sounds more 'Mirwood' than Bob & Earl's original version!
  13. Just updated my sale pages: 60's Northern / R'n'B / Popcorn: >>> CLICK HERE <<< 70's Northern: >>> CLICK HERE <<< Detroit & Motown labels: >>> CLICK HERE <<< Albums: >>> CLICK HERE <<<
  14. Steve Smith gave it a few spins in and around the Midlands during the late 80's/early 90's. I rate it anywhere between £50/£75. Yes, it is the Phillie label also known for Bill Horton, Delores Lynn etc. Love the gothic font used for her name on the label! Sounds @ 65-ish to me.
  15. Sales pitch aside...d'ya know what, I raised an eyebrow when I read that it was getting plays, as I recalled it being a tad iffy. However, time is a great healer, so I gave it a listen again and thought it may be time for it...love the bassline! Here's the blank label on the flipside to the copy I have up for grabs:
  16. Just for reference this also came out on Katron 829 before being picked up by Checker 1028. >>> Local vs. National Labels <<< Nice track.
  17. Queue the stories I could spin about the last four years of living and serious disc-digging...in Japan...the final frontier for Rare Soul collecting?! Totemo sugoi ne?!
  18. Cheers...have listed it for £30 being the nice chap I am >>> Take This Link <<< (Label scans as above within an earlier post.)
  19. I've been told it has topped the $200 point on eBay, but I've plumped for £75 for the copy on my sales pages! This particular one also has a 'credit-less' flipside label, which looks rather nice! >>> Take This Link <<<
  20. I've had stock and demo copies of this one...a great track that takes me back many, many years to when Kitch (?) once played it at the 100 Club covered up as Hal Miller. Know what you mean about lyrics featuring lines from nursery rhymes...I ususally hate that, but this one only has one line, so it scrapes through my quality control department!
  21. Still available..and still only £50!!!
  22. The acetate take also has added motorbike sound effects to give it some real attitude!
  23. Very good...cleaner and crisper than on an original Constellation WD...both sides. The vocals, brass and percussion are all crystal clear, whereas they seem a tad muddy on the USA WD copies. The sax break on ICSI is especially spine-tingling...and yes I found this copy the other week in Tokyo! Value?
  24. Aha! Even from Tokyo I thought it looked like a styrene/West Coast copy!
  25. What's in the deadwax on that one, Tony?
