  1. I second Neil's words...congratulations Max. I tip my hat to anyone who managed a business for that length of time...especially in the music business. I recall once upon a time when I was a young lad rep'ing for Charly Records in the mid-80's, that one of my customers based in Folkstone still had listening booths (as did another one in Hounslow!). I remarked innocently that they must have been there a fair few years...and joked that they must've sold 78's as new! The shop keeper replied, '78's? My dear boy we used to sell cylinders!' pmsl. They sadly closed a year or so later...think they were established in 1928 as an electrical store!
  2. Fabulous stuff! Many thanks for sharing the unreleased track...superb vocals/harmonies, organ and sax work. Does the acetate have a studio label on it?
  3. There is one particular groove that is too close to the next groove inside of it, if you get my drift? I've had a few copies come and go over the years and yes a poorly weighted arm, poor tracking and or a dodgy stylus will indeed lead to the stylus hoping into the inner groove. Blame the engineer as he/she should've set the lathe up to have more space between the grooves, or a deeper cut to compensate for the fact that it is a pretty long track. Great track even though it gets a tad tricky for the dancers as it speeds up juuuuuuust a touch mid-way through! £800 is way OTT imo.
  4. 'We the People' featured the following guys: Robert Taylor, Shabi Weems, Billy McEachern and Terri Gonzales...can't find a reference to a Raimon (sic) Flores. Thought the Ree Flores M&H track is an LA recording, whilst the Lion records tracks were NYC?
  5. Told you it was a nice copy! Cheap at twice the price! A tough WD.
  6. I stumble across UK Action 45's over here in Japan quite often. They are usually quite expensive, UK stuff being a bit of a novelty over here, but every now and then I pick one up. I found this one not too long ago...for sale at £30:
  7. I always have a smile and chuckle to myself whenever I see a Dottie Cambridge stock copy, as I recall having to beg my mum for a pocket money advance to buy a copy. It was my fave at the time and cost a whole £6. I stated at that point that I'd never spend more than £6 on a record. Within a month or so I then found myself buying a Dana Valery demo for £20...had the choice of a red or grey print copy too! I financed it by selling a cople of discs...and so the wheeling and dealing started...I was 9 years old at the time!
  8. OTIS CLAY - I PAID THE PRICE / TIRED OF FALLING ...- ONE-DERFUL demo- £ 25.00 Beautiful white demo copy autograped by Otis Clay himself! BETTY EVERETT - PLEASE LOVE ME - ONE-DERFUL demo- £ 50.00 R'n'B belter - rarer DJ copy too! McKINLEY MITCHELL - YOU KNOW I'VE TRIED - ONE-DERFUL demo- £ 40.00 Gritty R'n'B - not the easiest number on a WD ADMIRATIONS - DON'T LEAVE ME - ONE-DERFUL- £ 15.00 Another cracking slab of group Soul at it's best - a finger snapper of the highest order! MISS MADELINE - LONELY GIRL / BEHAVE YOURSELF - MAR-V-LUS- £ 15.00 Awesome double-sider - an essential disc! CICERO BLAKE - YOU'RE GONNA BE SORRY - MAR-V-LUS demo- £ 40.00 Nice demo copy - rarer than the Renee release imo ULTIMATIONS - WOULD I DO IT OVER - MAR-V-LUS - £ 15.00 Super Soulful group sound HAROLD BURRAGE - THINGS AIN'T WHAT THEY USED TO BE - M-PAC- £ 15.00 One of my faves from this Soul Hero - a real rumbler of a tune! All are in excellent condition or mighty close to being mint. P&P = £5 per parcel, couriered to your doorstep. £UK cheques or bank transfer...NO Paypal.
  9. Yes, folks, nothing to fear from ordering discs from me all the way over here in the land of the rising record price! The courier service I use never fails to amaze me...x3 days to a UK doorstep...from Tokyo...and trackable all the way via their website too! I do note however, that I am actually sending records back from the future, considering I am 8 hours ahead of the UK! So, y'all want to know the next cheap record that will fetch £100's, or what the winning lottery numbers are next Saturday?!
  10. I have a rather fetching minty demo you can purchase, sir. It is within my sales pages on my site.
  11. Neil, I may be able to get you a spare on Japanese Contempo, if that is of use? PM me. I often stumble across UK pressed LPs over here in Japan, including a fair amount of rarer UK Tamla Motown numbers...found a Prime of Shorty Long on STML11144 not too long ago (for sale if anyone needs it?).
  12. Great stuff...thanks for the info...appreciate it. A long shot maybe, but do you have any idea how many copies were pressed of your three discs, and what was the inspiration behind the logo on Pee Vee?
  13. LOVE IT! A track I never tire of too! Sounds great at a large venue echoing around...once played it at the Capitol Soul Club many moons ago. The group featured Fern Kinney (replaced Patsy McClune after '66), Rosemary Taylor and Dorothy Moore aka Dottie Cambridge.
  14. For reference, though I can't find my scan, I used to have a WD of TOAL. My fave from Jay is 'My lonely girl' on IPG...superb drumming and muted brass!
  15. UPDATE: New Sounds - sold Ripple Blast Singers - yes it is the correctly pressed copy featuring the cross-over versions of 'Sadie Sadie' and 'Rain on my parade'
  16. Ordering Details: £UK Cheques, IBAN transfers or used notes to a UK address. Discs will be couriered from Japan to your doorstep...5 days or less to the UK. P&P £5.00 per parcel. Any questions?
  17. Must admit it took me three attempts to upload it first time around, so I had to knock off lines/gaps/some titles/order details! I've now edited it and added some gaps...and it accepted the changes, so hopefully you can now read and buy! Bet if the list was on a record label, going around on a turntable at a nighter, we'd be able to read it no trouble at all!?!
