The white label copies are indeed legit...used to see more of them around than the blue ones, back in the day when it was flavour of the minute at Stafford. I was there that night...frickin' incredible moment when she sang that after her Elgins set. Shame she came in too soon before the inst break finished, but hey it didn't matter then and it doesn't matter now. Nice to see that footage...thanks for the link.

Rare slab of vinyl

I found an original over here last year...quite tough to find imo. In fact, I've not seen too many bonafide copies at all over the years. The print quality is also far superior on the original...and there's a poor quality 'Audio Matrix' stamp in the deadwax. A case of bootlegged before it ever had chance to peak? Superb Northern imo...revisit it, people...sounds great!

It is actually Bernard Du Pree 'You are going to miss me' on Granger records. (£300+) The 'Cletus Marland' copies were made to satisfy a different market for the flipside. (£20)

AWESOME! Mine is on red vinyl copy too...seem to recall initial orders arrived instore like this. Would be interested to learn why the speeds varied per side, considering the number of tracks/running time.

I've seen other releases on the label with a light-blue label, thus there is a chance the white ones are demos...with no mention of them being a demo...no need for a second run being required when the flood of orders for stock came through at the time...which they obviously didn't!

Think Pete bought it from Greg. This copy had the clearance sound reproduction of all the copies I've ever heard, but it was still a tad Lo-Fi. Think they're all like that, Dave.

That was me...got lotsa interest the times I played it too. Oddly enough I played it at a collector's doo in Tokyo the other week...led to a few chins being scratched. Love the flipside slowie too.

Off on a tangent: The Tangenttes on Ran is also a Ron Nichols related piece (same address too?) and rumbles away in a bass-heavy fashion similar to the Constellations Violet 45...any idea who these ladies were/became?

In my experience the quality isn't that good at all...the sound is usually Lo-Fi and the sleeves are very thin with poor quality print. There seems to be little demand for these presses of Soul stuff (let alone early Platters!), and the price quoted is totally outrageous. It probably wouldn't sell with a buy it now option of £10...imo.
