  1. Nowp, I love it too!
  2. This is soooooooo good! Funky Sister Soul with an over the top tumbling production ideal for today's scene...as they say. Recommended.
  3. All the yellow stockers and WD's I've ever had have been on styrene. Are there any original vinyl copies? I assume the bootleg is vinyl?
  4. For the sake of the complete picture, the Gamble LP take is stereo with strings...now what about the Greek 45?!
  5. Yes, 100%...yellow label with black plain typical West Coast looking font. Not thaaaaaaaat hard to find,...or it never used to be back in the day!
  6. Evening chaps! As a big fan of this LP I've had a few go through my hands over the years! My current copy is a keeper though,as the sleeve is just so clean...no fading, tears, stickers or wear...and it also happens to be a Mono WD (MGS prefix vinyl/sleeve), which sounds great! If y'all didn't already know, a good friend of mine released this LP on CD last year on the Poker label...superb sound quality...includes the non-LP Smash 45's as well. Not a bad sleevenote either -ps No Japanese issue as far as I'm aware!
  7. Awesome powerhouse Northern! All nighter magic!
  8. ...and not too easy to find either...even over here!
  9. If it was the Marge Dodson, I have a spare...amongst other nice LPs: >>> LOOK HERE <<<
  10. I reckon you were closer with your first estimate, Bob. It had a flutter of attention pre-eBay days, but failed to take off outside of the tape-swappers circuit. Used to be fairly easy to pick up out of the small-print in Discoveries/Goldmine magazines. A tough messy to appeal to the majority...imo.
  11. BINGO! Nice one...I can hold my head up high once again! What would we do without you, Dave?!
  12. Yep, Guy was over here recently and I took him along to a collector's night...we had a right laugh with the highlights being as follows...I'll never forget him playing 'Skiing in the snow' and punching the air in the excitement of it all, only to be soon topped by me running over to show him my latest purchase - a Japanese copy of the Chosen Few on Roulette - yep, 'Footsee', complete with pic sleeve, mind! Flynny -ps Still have a Greg Perry spare!
  13. The backing tracks are identical...the vocal takes are different...and the backing singer's lines vary (slightly) at certain points too...especially near the end. I prefer the version on the flip to 'Hey boy'...even though that's the second release!
  14. ...and how much for a Japanese 7" copy of this one, and indeed for CLWY as well?!
  15. Not to mention the Japanese release too...45 and LP.
  16. Ted, I wouldn't lose sleep over it, if I was you. 'Hey boy' isn't a strong track at all and goes nowhere...not worthy of spins at all...imo. Easy to spot (apart from the different cat' #'s) as the copies with 'Deep' written across the bottom are the ones with it on the flip, rather than the ones with 'Deep' (in italics) across the top. The takes of 'You said' are indeed different as already noted...not a lot in it, but yes I prefer the one with 'Hey boy' on the flip...so maybe worth getting that number after all!
  17. Riding in on this one, if that is cool...I have a French copy up for grabs! Needless to say it is RARE...on a red Columbia label complete with original factory sleeve, both in excellent condition. Open to offers...not looking for mega bucks!
  18. I also prefer the Wand 45 to this one...and also to Chuck's 'Hand it over', when compared to the Kent comp'ed versions...though t'was interesting to hear different takes on such classics for sure. Therefore I for one, am not complaining! (Wonder if the instrumental of LMGYML was also in the can?)
  19. Tail-end of the 70's / early 80's this was covered up as 'Little Joe Roman - My life with you' and was a Gary Rushbrooke Casino spin...that's where I first heard it anyway.
  20. A very average cover of the Timi Yuro track. I hope you didn't pay much?! Not a keeper...imo.
  21. I worked for Charly Records when these were released...indeed I actually compiled the CD in question and sneaked a few tracks onto it that had evaded the LP releases. The source for these comps wasn't actually Japanese releases. One of the Charly guys (and dare I say the world's #1 expert on James Brown), Cliff White, actually went over to the Broadway Studios (ex Quinvy), met up with Quin Ivy himself and took DAT recordings from the original master tapes. Northern fans (and I know there's a few of you on here!) please note the take we used for Don Varner's 'Tearstained face' is different to the released 45...check out the brass for starters! But did Quin have any 45's left, I hear you cry...yes a few pieces...and yes I got the copy of 'Tearstained face'. How did the LPs originally sell...as others have pointed out, not really that well, and indeed the CD didn't fair well at all...dreadful sleeve didn't help at the point of selling in! I still see copies of the LP's over here in Japan, oddly enough...always brings a smile to my face.
  22. Good question - that's the only one of the sample video that I'm not 100% on exactly who they are. Anyone confirm the members?
  23. Still in his set...he played it at a doo over here in Tokyo on Saturday! Must admit, it didn't sound anywhere near as good as I remembered. (He also played the Invitations - Skiing in the snow...I'm sure some of you will be pleased to learn!? )
  24. You did indeed, thank you Tony, is your acetate the same version as the one Pete has posted up?
  25. Have a rather nice UK Jay Boy demo (nice big red 'A') of the Clay Hammond on my sales pages at a mere £!5, and a US Keyman copy at £10. Also, a luvely rare demo copy of the Dells at £75. PM me if of use.
