  1. mama never told me originally came out in 1973 but im sure they were on top of the pops singing it in 1975 when it was re issued and it made the top 20. 1st issue is actually quite rare. only way to tell is the catalogue number. dave
  2. not a bad version. A bit poppy, but it could never match the masqueraders version on bell IMO dave
  3. more class aretha april fools ( atlantic 7in from 1972) no one can love you more ( atlantic lp track from 1977) two of her best IMVHO dave
  4. i get carried away is by jerry fuller but it is the same song and just as good by jones the groans. "key to my heart" and "i`ll never let you go " arn`t bad either b sides of thunderball & funny familiar forgotten feelings best dave
  5. Im sure ive just seen the enchantments somewhere for £250 on an orange issue. I find that staggering as i struggled to get £80 for my copy a few years ago even though its a bit rarer than the blue demo. lee david £125 although johnny manship got over £200 when he auctioned it. hope this helps dave
  6. yeh this time last year little charles was around the £50 mark. But it just shows what a few plays can do. I know its had the odd spin as far back as i can remember and its about time this and its a heartache, also on decca had their day. dave
  7. dont think its been booted but lil peddler, the guy who has the oxford knights has been trying to sell them on ebay for at least 2 years. So maybe he has both titles in quantity. dave
  8. 2 boots on styrene. 1 blue and 1 yellow. 1 boot on vinyl blue label with p.b. in runout. original on vinyl no p.b. and the run in grooves about 3 mil wider but all seen together orig looks well "grander" if yer know what i mean dave
  9. sound of silence  no link
  10. It came out in spain on the "grind" label . blue in colour and witha different pic cover to the german release. its also about 30 seconds longer than the german 7in but shorter than the 12. . dave
  11. yeh truly awful. but if its mega rare and some enterprising dj wants to inflict it on us then god help us. im off in the modern room dave
  12. Christ almighty. its the millie jackson vocal, slowed down a tad wth a remixed backing track technology and all that. open your lugholes. if it turns up on a 70`s lp i`ll stand the drop of york DP
  13. I know what youre saying guys . The sellers are quick to put prices up and theres tons of records that turn up day in day out never mind week in week out. but when things are bottoming out a bit they are slow bringin em back down a bit. i appreciate some guys do it for a livin but a bit of middle ground wouldnt give a miss dave
  14. harry starr`s real name was harry pennington. but in 1964 when he recorded " another time another place" the beatles were massive stateside and he thought starr might catch the publics imagination. Also we must remember that after wigan shut. A lot of people took a few years off so they may not know a lot of the stafford and beyond sounds. There is plenty for them to catch up on. dave
  15. issued in 1965 originally.tamla didnt start using the box design until early 1967. hope this helps dave pinches
  16. you`ve been so wonderful to me will this be the day cant shake it loose also do these count. from the supremes meet the temps lp "aint no mountain high enough" and "when" dave
  17. wasnt it david morris jnr on a brothers guiding light. the same guy also did midnight lady on buddah or are they one and the same. any info dave
  18. forget her forget her (hmv pop 1372) and go away (hmv pop 1410) are worth checkin out for the broad minded among you. forget her also came out in the usa on united artists recorded in america as well dave
  19. shouldnt there now be under $67 dollar soul nite coz thats what the southside movement reached on ebay making it nearer 40 quid in my book. i know do it to me aint rare but not that common either.there are plenty of records frank bev on sassy, valentinos, natural 4 abc the list is endless of records that turn up week in week out and always sell for good money so there`s always hope for quality tunes like this dave
  20. hi guys steve mancha and the professionals share the same backing but the groove city release has a longer intro and is a different and IMHO superior vocalist. but as joan said. When it was put on the detroit cd i think they got the versions mixed up dave
  21. knowing what you used to have blake youd need a lottery win to buy back your old titles certainly off the dealers. me and bri only buy on the net as we cant afford dealer prices £500 for delegates of soul etc but as other guys have said, quality dosent equal price tagsand its a bottomless pit. loads of cheaper crossover and 70s out there and i know thats what you like happy hunting mate dave pinches
  22. didnt realise i was opening a can of worms by saying soul sam plays sean oliver in northern rooms. but its great to have people like him doing so. i wish there were more djs that played more modern classics in the northern rooms with an anything goes policy. rather than some of the 50s early 60s R n B we have to endure.
  23. it seems due to demand sean oliver is about £60. Sams been playing it al green is a better mix on the dont look back lp but was it only available on cd It crossed over to the northern scene and the 12in old school mix was their only option u know how they like their vinyl and its not bad. ive seen it for £80 but realistically £40. bobby womack?????? did it get a release on 12 originally. it should be on tmg 1267. the 7in has sold for 3 figures, barmy innit but ive only seen re issue 12s maybe £30 dave pinch
  24. was clyde brown the vocalist on pour your little heart out? he was certainly in the group and it sounds like him to these ears. it seems "pour" is harder on the stock copy but then i have that with a crappy plastic label. but outside of the one on ebay other week they all seem to be demos dave
  25. thats what i like about this site. thez always somethin to learn and did i read that ur yellow impression is reverse labeled as well the white one i had was properly labelled. i think they are definately legit but i couldnt say when it came out. I know it came out in 1966 on jerhart and sold very well in the states hence the uk president release. the mica release is from 1968. I think the impression is 3rd issue and not a local 1st issue but when it stems from i dont know. what i do know is i bought it from the late great graham williamson at his house in rawmarsh in1991 for £30 knowing full well i cud a bort it on jerhart for 10 bob. but we all do daft things. sellin it was even dafter dave
