  3. has any body cottoned on to the fact that easy living on groove city and j.j barnes on uk stax play exactly the same record dave
  4. Wasnt jimmy ruffin lead vocal with the four hollidays on markie on the 2 45s fron 1964. the golden world set up featured edwin starr on i`ll love you forever in 1966 and on groove city it was j.j barnes and steve mancha. Dont think the markie 45s are connected with the others except for the fact the`re detroit items dave
  5. this is the original doo wop version from 1957. made number 88 on the pop charts in september of that year so it seems to have sold quite well. Wouldnt have thought it it be more than a tenner but yer never know dave
  6. sold a mint black issue at prestwich last nite for £50. the first time i took it out. Books at £75 in jm,s new guide. Cant be more up to date than that eh dave
  7. when they reissued it in 1999 really they should have only been £20 as there were enuff copies to go around but maybe £50 dosent seem too dear by todays standards. last i heard about the original acetate. Nige mayfield had it. Dont know if he still has it tho dave
  8. just off topic a bit. the sonny and dianne 45 love trap credits S fishback & D carter so perhaps it could be dianne carter........... whoever she is great vocals tho and a very rare record IMVHO. only on epic issue dave

  16. So. just to recap then. this record is worth between £200 and £1000 basically nobody has a clue . good record, a bit too fast for today tho` dave
  17. used to see it in the 80s and 90s from time to time sometimes with reversed labels for as much as £200. Saw one recently for £600. I aint heard it out and about in years top tune tho` dave
  18. tho its very rare. the sound quality on the turbo release is worse than the p vine reissue. I bet the producer never worked again. im sure an original went for about £300 on the bay. the p-vine must be £60 by now. At least 5 good tracks for me. I dont want to lose you, sweet memories.............luvly wasnt dont take your love c/up as darrell banks ... who was long dead by the time it was recorded eh dave
  19. certainly heard a lot worse dave
  20. seriously folks. im not opposed to a bit of popcorn. ive picked up the odd cheap piece here and there but outside of northern i seem to buy more 70s and crossover types. honestly dave howard just dosent do it for me. ive heard better records by frankie vaughan and johnny mathis dave
  21. I think the only connection between belgium popcorn and northern soul is the fact they stay up all night to dance to it. surely it dosent mean it has to be played on our scene. the young uns are currently doin all night raves. hope this dosent cross over to northern..................or has it already dave
  22. hmmm. 500 copies. this record came out 5 years ago and up until last year you could get it from blow up for £4. been 3 copies on ebay in the last week. havent been that many joe jama or george lemons this week. I bet theres a few more than that about. I reckon blow up pressed up 5000 and of course theres the cd single to contend with dave
  23. seen a copy of this a while back fetching similar money i really dont understand what its all about . they say northern soul is a broad church but christ they are pushin the boundaries sooner listen to engelbert humperdinck dave
