ive certainly heard dr love, i get carried away and i cant break the news
out and about by him. even spun dr love myself a few times................
nowt wrong wi jones the groans
dave
I have jimmy helms romeo and juliet on brazilian pye, sharon paige new to you on abc
& thelma houston dont pity me on motown. I cant do pictures but if i can find someone
that can i`ll put them up
dave
as brian said, the canadian copy is ours bought off the bay a year ago.i thought it was a bargain
but judging by the recent ebay sale the demo seems to be £450
dave
im sure in the 80`s and 90`s the white king demo was owned by gary spencer
who sold it to tim brown via andy dyson. thought they did the deal at the welfare
hall at goldthorpe along with don gardner cairos etc. thought i witnessed it
but i might have had too much sauce. sure this hapened in the mid 90`s
anybody confirm
dave
thort the 12in was more readily available. i had quite a few chances to buy it but i thought id hold out for a 7.
as i said earlier im glad i got it then coz i would make do with a 12 if i hadnt got one. am i right in saying that
the long and short versions on the 7 &12 are the same?
dave
im sure john manship had it a couple of weeks ago for either £100 or £125. i know he`d had it a while but ive
just tried to find it and i cant so perhaps demand has risen a bit. great record anyway and on the short side
i dont think the intro is that long. had a 7in of this for 5 or 6 years now and judging by this thread im glad
i bort it when i did
dave
hi all
ive had a german philly white demo and a french philly issue
they have the same b side but different catalogue numbers
it seems the german one came out in may 75 but the french
one not til july 76. dont know why that is so on the strength
of it i kept the german one and sold the french copy to a mate
on here for £15
dave
think youd need 2 jewels for an ike strong in todays market.
thought jewel was around the £200 mark and ike strong
£350. didnt jm auction ike strong and get nearly £500 for it
or did i imagine it. both brill records anyway
dave
im sure i remember blake hellewells mate kev johnson having a red issue in the mid 90s. He sold his records to tim brown
brownie must have kept that for himself as i cant remember him listing it. ive seen plenty of white ones in varying degrees
of condition, indeed some dont play very well at all. and its true there coming to take me away is a stunning version
of napoleon 14th released at the same time altho rose didnt take a share of the chart honours
dave
just played "nobody", the flip of what you gonna do........almost forgot how good it was.
quite cheap by todays standards. willy tee brilliance. might throw it in the dj box. if its good
enough for mr hampsey, its good enough for me
think youre right about pages martin. original is hard enough. but the repress is rarer. why would someone want to press
so few up. not sure about zz tho. mines the first issue according to jm`s book but i keep pulling the repress and the boots
out of boxes for a ton o money orig has better sound quality as well. Al mason was a regular £80/100 record until john
got his hands on it
dave
temptations originally did coming home. was it written by dennis edwards. its the flip side of struck by lightning
twice. ive got em but not at hand. anybody confirm
