  6. i take it that the folks on here who dont like lulus northern offerings wont like pop records like shane martin. lynne randell, dana valery etc. coz they are 100% northern, 100% pop and 0% soul but it dont make em bad records altho i do prefer towana type sounds meself dave
  7. thats not an alternate white demo. its a white issue. It also came out on a black issue and a pink issue here in th uk. all with push out 4 prong centers. the demo has a full center. thats 4 original uk variations. Not bad for a rare record is it dave
  8. wouldnt have thought any more than £25 for the lp or 12 altho i think its a must have dave
  9. yes puzzling that one int it. the j`s has always been in my play box and ive only ever played it once. that was a couple of years ago in the modern room at the earl of doncaster. i personally have not heard it played out since. but then again i aint heard sammy gaha out for years dave
  10. also correct me if im wrong but the poets on red bird were the insiders/main ingredient wer`nt they, not the symbol group dave
  11. hi pete didnt think it had been booted on canadian right on. still very rare and the only reason i think its not more money is because its out of fashion at the moment. my mate recently bought one off soul sam for £150 and you`d probably get one cheaper on ebay dave
  12. dean parrish bricks broken bottles and sticks musicor white is harder than black eartha kitt there comes a time black harder than white also all the platters are nice on white demos IMVHO ofcourse dave
  13. there was an orange one on ebay recently.it sold for $280 very in demand these days and dosent crop up too often dave
  14. cheers for that moggy . i think i bought it from u at the welfare hall in goldthorpe still have it and play both sides out from time to time. thort it was about 1996 tho dave
  15. how cheap is two of a kind these days. last one i saw was at andy dysons a while back and it was summat like £400 dave
  16. my mate sold a mint bell issue for £1900 last year. rarer than southern artists by quite a bit in 2008 dave
  17. a good point stevie. bearing in mind the release was only 18 m0nths old when first spun and a little later they discovered jesse. when he discovered it was being played in the uk he had more copies pressed up. the only difference on the label is the extra _ on the matrix but the vynil not only with the much longer matrix looks totally different to me with much darker grooves and considerably shorter run out groove dave
  18. also why if the shorter matrix was withdrawn is there stacks of them and the longer matrix still a very rare item. when i compared both copies together my gut reaction was that the shorter matrix was a boot. they just look or even feel shabbier than the long matrix IMVHO dave
  19. i dont doubt clarky`s integrity at all anymore than say manship, pat brady or tim brown. and if he did get them from zz himself thats fair enough. they might be "real" just not "original" if you know what i mean. i dont think its quite an elijah cole scenario with zz but u know what time does to the memory. reference the sound quality, the longer matrix is louder but the shorter matrix aint exactly lp fidelity. dave
  20. is it safe to say that anything only issued because of the northern/ modern scene is a reissue dave
  21. if you see both the two presses together its so so obvious which is real and which is not. the other presses that came from jesse butler maybe wernt made at the time. "getdown" was issued in 1979. In 1981 richard searling played it on hallam then stated he had no idea who ZZ was. he thought it was possibly ZZ hill so it looks to me that jesse hadnt been found at that point. i reckon he had them repressed up when they found him. all i remember seeing is the ones with the longer matrix and better sound quality ( i bought one myself). its only been in recent years that ive seen these other copies and now every one i know has one of em dave
  22. HAVENT GOT THE BOOK TO HAND AS OUR BRI`S GOT IT BUT IT MADE 30 ODD ON THE SOUL CHARTS AND BUBBLED UNDER THE HOT 100 POP CHARTS. THATS WHY ITS PRETTY COMMON. STEVE P AND CHALKY HAVE PRETTY MUCH GOT IT RIGHT. LOVELY TO OWN ON A NICE WHITE DEMO DAVE
  23. no more legal or original than gold of my life IMVHO dave
  24. £50 is the right price on this i would say dave
