  1. so did we..........cant afford to now tho...... too dear dave
  2. yes i remember that bri. we looked at that wi a veiw to buy, 50 quid i think but changed our minds when we saw the labels. the `whos that` gives it away its like meeting an old friend dave
  3. would agree with you on the rarity john but if you auctioned a `fine fine` & `ocean` together i think youd get more for fine. in these credit crunch days u might not get a grand for either dave
  4. its a great record chalks............ but it sounds pop and it sounds white im sure not all black singers thought `i cant sound too black or i might not get out of this town` they wanted to make money and sell some records. Obvious point i know but colour not important to a great tune it just seems better when its a big black fella with an afro rather than a little white dude wi glasses dave
  5. if you get offered anything near 75ukp i should let it go wendy dave
  6. bloody hell i had 2 spares of that a couple of weeks ago at 25 quid...... wonder why they sold quickly its a great version tho. b side tears can only make the problem wet is great deep soul and hard to come by dave
  7. i think matt is on about the valentines re issue davie dave
  8. you asked a serious question so i`ll try and give you a straight answer. 75 quid for frank popp although jm had it last week for 150. we all know that this tune came out in 2001 and you could order it from the distributor for a fiver right up until jm auctioning a copy a couple of years ago when it went for 450 or something like . i too saw that valentines on orange and black 77 for 50 and thrice . some confused people eh dave
  9. the original has a great version of `39 -21-46`on the flip. the reissue has `got to be a reason` instrumental doesn`t it dave
  10. im sure pat brady had a red issue in the early 90s. he had £300 on it when it was a £40 demo and i think pat would know the difference between original red stock copies and the special product thingies dave
  11. the uk copy plays the same as the album around 4 mins i think. on the usa copy they shortened it by about 30 seconds. gypsy had other stuff out earlier on rca so i should like to know where this `local` release comes from. it made 70 odd on the pop charts but didnt make the soul charts coz basically its not a soul record ............ its still very good tho isnt it dave
  12. three years is a long time in terms collecting rare soul. a lot has happened in that time. we bought ours from ebay a couple or three years ago for about the same as marc but i cant recall seeing one since. i thought it was worth around the 4/500 mark. but in this day who knows........ incidentally the flip `am i losing you` a cover of jimmy delphs is a brillant slab of crossover and deserves to be played too IMVHO dave
  13. like i said........turns up all the time. should be £150 tops dave
  14. its possible that john had a copy for £30 at one time. his guides are made up from his database. could have been years ago tho. andy d would probably have had one of his own before he got a few copies from ralph. he always had loads of things like this at home to fall back on. i used to be a regular visitor til the wife banned me. . dave
  15. on this uk copy it says 1963. it actually came out in the states in 1968. the uk copy wasnt issued til 1977 dave
  16. it just goes to show what a few plays from the right djs can do for a record. three years ago it would have probably cost 30 quid although never easy to find.tis a top tune tho dave
  17. it does crop up on ebay pretty regular. at least one every month if not more. always the blue demos tho`. always gets a decent price. the buy it now yesterday was $399 i think dave
  18. think the mca and roulette is the same recording. it came out on another label as well but i cant think what offhand dave
  19. seen one as a buy now on ebay this aft dave
  20. just think on guys. i dont know why this is but popsike dosent show everything thats goes for a bit of money. it misses more than it hits and dont show cheap stuff at all.but back to the original topic........pages.......looks like its sold dave
  21. dont get me wrong my brother and i only buy originals when funds allow. if people wanna buy re issues thats up to them. i wont give em any grief over it. i have noticed tho that pages hasnt sold yet. hope were not putting folk off. dave
  22. yes its true when you get the original and the boot together its easy to tell the difference knowing the correct info in the runout is handy when you havent got that luxury. what you have to understand is that at 300 quid not everyone can afford to buy an original and will make do with a 40quid boot dave
  23. numonics - forever and a day -hodisk issued twice.......... different versions dave
  24. willie tee two different cuts on blue and green gatur first taste tyrone davis can i change my mind on dakar and mca
