  3. bearing in mind before the internet came along.it was a hard record to get. it took me 8 years to get mine but ebay and the like has opened everything up.the thing with showstopper is actually finding a copy in good shape. most of the copies on ebay are trashed but then you all know that also the other thing its got going for it its not a bad double sider . wouldnt have thought it would go up much more tho dave
  4. yes it was issued. ive had 3 demos and one issue. one of the demos had a date stamp on it october 71 i think. i kept the cleanest demo for myself. wish id kept the issue now although the flip side was poor. i sold it to either joe lakin or derek greenhoff for £25 dave
  5. gary smelt of blacknight records had a stock copy but that was 15 years ago. dont know if this is the same copy. i would have thought there would be more than one copy. although its very rare its on a nationally distributed label dave
  6. still keeps cropping up on ebay tho as regular as it always did dave
  7. its van mccoys version.readily available on an lp but it came out on an italian only 45 its quite difficult to track down now but ive had 5 copies all sold to local jocks in the doncaster/barnsley area. kept one myself tho. dave
  8. should have no trouble getting a percy and them.one on ebay every other week and it never sells for more than a ton.suprised john auctioning it, but as its been said before.some people are just too idle and dont look hard enough dave
  9. aound the year 2000 i swapped my cecil washington and the tomangoes for a vivian carol merben w/d.............. what was i thinking about. still beat myself up over it dave
  10. i agree. most of the records on the northern scene are way overpriced and not that rare IMVHO. as a bit of a collector/dj im currently on my 3rd copy of bernard williams and sam dees. I sold my betty lloyd for £50 when it bottomed out some years ago ive never got round to buying it back mainly coz i cant afford the £300 to buy it back and i wouldnt pay that for it anyway. if you have stacks of money you can petty much buy 95% of the records ever played on the northern scene.my own experience has told me that youd get them in a couple of months and the rarer ones would follow within a year dave
  11. 1900 yesterday reached number 34 on the US hot 100 in june 1970 ive only got the betty everett lp on UNI..............miles better anywayIMVHO used to get played at virtually every "PITCHES" do circa 1994/95. i never missed one never really been a do in rotherham as good since. bout time those days came back dave
  12. looks like a jamaican release to me from the type face. some calla releases came out on jamaican stateside.ive got jean wells "with my love"on stateside.i wish i could scan it and post it up but i aint got the knowledge yet dave
  13. bernard williams went for nearly $600 2 weeks ago on ebay..... dont think its any commoner than say sam dees "lonely"or betty lloyd.john got £500 for sam dees other week didnt he? dave
  14. roy haggins was a very good impersonator then. better than spyder turner IMVHO was it roy singing with the vows or another morris impersonator dave
  15. "quote" Just listen to Spyder Turner - Stand by me then tell me you know who the vocalist is. Regards Paul I see what you mean there paul.spyder does impersonaions of top soul stars of the day on the stand by me album. but not on the 45, well not on the french ep anyway dave
  16. not morris chestnut on the soundmasters .and it says his name on the record well it does on my copy any way. and whats that old saying."believe half of what you see and none of what you hear" .id sooner believe what my old 45s tell me rather than someone relying on 40 year old memories when they probably cant remember what they had for breakfast dave
  17. thought it was a boot from the mid 90s.dont know who did em tho dave
  18. If this is a photo of the Magnetics on Bonnie then we have proof that they are a different group and share no indervidual member as I can see no resemblence to any member of this photo with the photo's I have of the Volumes. Regards Paul

  22. tims copy has a couple of bids on it now.it stands at £450, which is more than johns copy went for. incidently, why do people think this has the same backing as ring leaders............ they must have gone to the deaf school dave
  23. so who was the girl in the documentary. has she resurfaced yet dave
  24. was issued in 1970.they stopped doing black in the fall of 69 so i doubt if there is a black issue. the blue one is hard enough dave
