  1. one of my favorites is jefferson `baby take me in your arms`on uk pye. for those who dont know he was vocalist with the rockin berries who did a good version of the four seasons `dawn` also on uk pye. really the list is endless and this topic could run all week on 60s/70s releases alone. we dont have to mention duffy/ amy winehouse etc.....................do we dave
  2. no smudge youve got that wrong there. dont know where you get the 18 months from. seeing is believing. the 4th disc was a shrine 45. I think it was the cairos but............. dave
  3. I love the spoken intro myself nick and its only on the varden release. also ive heard the sweet soul flip out early doors at northern do`s so does that make it northern soul. it does in my book and thats what i like about this broad church thats known as the rare soul scene. on friday night i played do this for me out. fair enough it thinned the dancefloor out a tad but one guy came bounding on the stage. he says ` what was that, its ....kin brilliant i thought it was the immpressions`. even though its cheap and available on philips as the lovers a lot of people still dont know it..if joes got any copies left they should be snapped up immediatley dave
  4. well done for pointing out the bleeding obvious bob.. the point i made was to joes original thread. weather this record required the status of an auction record. i never said it was super rare but it shows up over here less than some big money auction records. it looks like ive had more offers of lester tipton than you. and i will tell you something else mate. its a bloody better record than lester tipton. thats an ok record but very overatedIMVHO but then again if youre from the price tag equals quality school........ dave
  5. i bought my emotions from the collossus that is andy dyson for £20 some years ago and probably only had one other chance to buy it. In say the last 10 years ive had 6 oppotunities to buy lester tipton and its only because my pockets are not that deep that ive never owned one dave
  6. have you heard me and brian singing. it really would be pushing a great song to the limit brett dave
  7. What constitutes as rare these days? ive seen more lenny curtis. peoples choice and lester tiptons in the last 10 years than this. Or is it coz its not quite got the demand of any of the above records. dave
  8. can be anywhere between 75 to 150ukp.incidentally my fave version is the spyder turner lp track using the same backing as the monticellos but with a better vocal IMHO. although its just a good tune anyway dave
  9. also on a french tamla motown jukebox only white demo 45 as well as the EP dave
  10. nobodies mentioned `what have I got to lose `yet. this also came out twice but as far as i know the same take. anybody know any different. dave
  11. we all agree on the quality but what aboot the price........... surely not more than 40 quid for either label or am i behind the times on this one dave
  12. theres been 2 st tropez 7in in the last couple of weeks one went for 9 quid the other over 20 quid am i right in saying canadian only. i think richard tate is on canadian and uk abc. never seen a usa copy of either. both versions great and could be huge dave
  13. quite a few 12s on gemm even cheaper than that. the 7s a little bit trickier to find alternately theres richard tates original version on abc 7in theres a couple of them available and IMHO its a cracker and cheap too dave
  14. my brother was out with him last night in barnsley. all round top man and a bloody nice bloke dave
  15. greg perry is easy enough on 12 maybe 30 quid. but orig alfie davison 12 is very rare could be a couple of hundred dave
  16. morning swish hope you are well. me and my brother bri used to love coming to see you in your shop in york in the 80s and 90s and were never dissapointed with what i bought or traded with you. when you came to the earl of doncaster to do a spot it was a real treat charades seven souls chapter 5 and all that. very good days indeed. nothing changes much really, well apart from records being too dear. its been a pleasure to read your poems on this sunday morning take care mate best wishes dave (pinches twins)
  17. reckon you should sell me that willie tee back.......its got my name on it for christs sake got my name on as well. but as for selling..........it would be like losing an arm
  18. would that be an acrobat in the yorkshire dales.does it pay good money. seriously tho if i were you proph i would marry that sleeve up with a copy of maxines superior version, frame it and pop it on the wall.that would be nice to look at dave
  19. I can read pal. i just thought it odd that you would start rambling about maxine brown when the guy wants robert dobyne. dave
  20. i would agree with you there pottsy. i played it at york soul club last time i was there and its the side i bought it for in the first place. i was going to buy trev thomas`s (soulman i964) one sided acetate of IWTBF and then a chance conversation the same night got me a peaches copy instead. twice the price but at least i got 2 sides for the money dave
  21. probably £125 but its much rarer than the price suggests dave
  22. thats the copy i have. at least i got a copy from carl in the mid 90s. it may well have been on ebay. ive only been on 5 years and ive never seen one and none have ever shown on popsike. Looks to me like theres nothing between them. its rare either way dave
