  1. just checked the white demo and it says 2.58 on it . the same as the stock copy above. the other demo says 2.25 or summat on it so it looks like there is a promo with the spoken intro missed off dave

  4. dont forget the major cut it twice. in 1963 for okeh and 1970 on curtom dave
  5. a wedge of black stocks probably came over in the 70`s or early 80`s and thats where rod most likely got his from but i dont think there were too many or it would show and it rarely does. for the record mine is a vg (at best) white promo with 4 `x` on label but plays perfect.i bought it in 98 for £100 and being a man of limited means its been the only chance ive had to own it dave
  6. i will check mine today. it a white promo but its the version with spoken intro but im not sure what time it states on the label. i think the run in is smaller on mine than the one in the scan above so perhaps there are promo`s with the intro cut off dave

  8. ITS THE INSTRUMENTAL TO LONELY ONE........................ TEMPO`S /STEPTONES................... ITS CALLED DISC JOCKEY PARADISE. I EVEN PLAYED IT OUT ONCE. WORTH A GRAND ON RARITY COMPARED TO SOME 45`S IMO. I THINK JOE MATTHEWS CAME FIRST DAVE
  9. IT MUST HAVE RUN FOR A FEW YEARS. WHILE I REMEMBER GOING QUITE REGULARLY FROM 89 TO AROUND 93 I REMEMBER DJING THERE MUCH LATER ON 98/99 MAYBE. PETE LOWRIE WAS ON THE SAME NIGHT. I THINK TREV THOMAS WAS RUNNIN IT AT THAT TIME THO. DAVE
  10. a nice copy could be a grand................... much rarer than the likes of the professionals imho. i still dont think its that well known outside of detroit collectors circles dave
  11. there is a white copy ( possibly a promo) counterpart of the blue label copy so maybe this was done first. either way this has sold for £600+ in its time but a nice copy is half that now i reckon ..........obviously less for a beater dave

  14. I REMEMBER PAUL MCNAMARA PLAYING IT COVERED UP AS LA LA BROOKS IN THE MID NINETIES. HE ALWAYS MISSED THE SPOKEN INTRO OFF. THEN I HAD A TAPE FROM HIM ALSO MISSING THE INTRO OFF. I AGREE WITH BRI. AND THAT DONT HAPPEN VERY OFTEN:lol:. BOUGHT THE RECORD SOMETIME AFTER FOR THE FLIP AND PLAYED THIS SIDE AS YOU DO AND WATCHED THE DRAMA UNFOLD DAVE
  15. THATS WHY I PUT THE `LOL` NEXT TO MY ANSWER PETE, MY ANSWER WAS TOUNGE IN CHEEK. WHILE I TRY TO PLAY ORIGINALS IVE BEEN KNOWN TO PLAY 100 CLUB ANNIVERSARY 45`S OR SAY DAVID RHODES `HUNG UP` AND I WOULD EXPECT TO BE PERSECUTED BY SOME..... BUT IM NOT BOTHERED ABOUT THAT DAVE

  18. I`D AGREE WITH YOUR PRICING PETE AND YOU`RE CERTAINLY ONE OF THE CHEAPEST AROUND AS FAR AS DEALER PRICES ARE CONCERNED. BUT THERE ARE A COUPLE OR THREE SHOP COPIES ON POPSIKE AT £60/70 BUT THEN GOING UP TO £200. I SUPPOSE ITS ALL ABOUT BEING LUCKY ON THE DAY EH DAVE
  19. I THINK MAYBE AFTER 40 ODD YEARS BAND MEMBERS MEMORIES HAVE PROBABLY FADED A BIT.. CANT BEAT BOOKS MAGAZINES AND ACTUAL 45`S FOR PLACING AND DATING STUFF DAVE
  20. books high @ £100 but really tough to sell. my copy made £22 on ebay six months ago dave
  21. the catalogue number tells you all you need to know. .i dated it to sept/oct 1970 without even seeing a date stamped copy. also look at the number below the main catalogue number. that tells you the year anyway. some people have said it exists on usa black stock but of course this is a lie dave
  22. here two van mccoy tunes from my you tube channel dave
  23. you had a good day mark.........bloody great when that happens eh dave
  24. bob , john miles had a us top 40 hit with slow down in 1977.are we really saying that he did the vocals on putting it down to the way i feel. i played it over and over and it didnt sound like him to me also by 1975 he was signed to decca. anything is possible tho, the realistics `the magic that you do ` also came out in canada on columbia. i think maybe they are the same guys on the facebook link dave
  25. uk and from the mid 70`s i think dave
