the 5k copy is clean...the £175 is beat but plays thru a big price difference john,,,,,if i`d have seen it i would have bought it it might scrub up a bit.
most definately..but usually these days i`ll stick it on a credit card and then sell a few bits before the bill comes in..its gettin tougher tho as i`m runnin out of things to sell,,,,,,never really had a chance to own dennis edwards tho
i kinda like it ..never gonna be an all time fave but i dont dislike it,,,,i wouldnt pay any money for it. never had a uk copy. i had 3 german pye copies in p/s all bought for a couple of euro each and moved them on for good profit and at the moment i have an italian pye copy with orig sleeve which is cool that cost nothing....that may go when a decent want comes along but ive had that quite a few years now..maybe a 6 or 7 out of 10 45 imvho
my mate found an eboney keyes on astor for peanuts and sent it to JM to auction and got what i would say is the best price on this 45 in any shape form or fashion
and thats certainly another connection chris....dennis was probably nothin to do with motown when he cut this...but he had close friends that did .....hope u are well bud
very possible chalky,,,but i think maybe he cut this independently very end of 65 poss early 66 tying in with gareth`s post ( and got mugged by the sound of things) ....but then litterally months later motown came knocking and he joined the contours sometime between apr /june66, he doent seem to be on any contours recordings before this only the ones recorded in a 15 month period (june66 to sept 67) after which they were dropped by motown and split...then he had another stroke of luck
is there not a chance he recorded this before he joined motown.....he was in he contours 66 to 68 ,, he wrote the celebrities on boss (ydttt) in 1965.. i know we all seem to go for this `moonlighting` but is it not possible he made it independently before he joined berry gordy
the vinyl is totally different i know that much,,,i had tim browns copy in my hands when it was the only `known` copyi... goin away to work i can post the fairmount details later in the week if no one beats me to it, seeing as they as different versions the plate would be different i`d say..maybe john parker can give the deadwax details on his copy..or perhaps someone has an actual rouser copy as that might even be different to johns
bob the test press john parker has a white label but with the (f1017) catalogue number but plays the version with the sax break edited so it seems it was made for the rouser release.. its not a fairmount test press as it states no label only a cat number
